The \u200cBiden administration&#8217;s &#8220;SAVE Day of \u200dAction&#8221; promotes the &#8220;Saving on a Valuable\u200b Education (SAVE) Plan,&#8221; offering $0 monthly payments for low-income borrowers and potential complete loan forgiveness\u200d in as little as 10 years. Harris emphasized \u2062the plan&#8217;s aim to alleviate student debt burdens.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Kamala Harris\">Kamala Harris<\/a> is leading the charge to boost enrollment in a program that allows most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/student-loans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Kamala Harris\">student loans<\/a> to never be repaid in full. <\/p>\n<p>Wednesday is the Biden administration\u2019s \u201cSAVE Day of Action,\u201d designed to promote the Saving on a Valuable Education <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2452005\/biden-launches-student-loan-website-for-save-debt-relief-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(SAVE) Plan\">(SAVE) Plan<\/a> under which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/teachers-unions-aclu-want-biden-to-extend-student-loan-repayment-pause-cancel-student-debt\/\" title=\"Teachers Unions, ACLU Want Biden To Extend Student Loan Repayment Pause, Cancel Student Debt\">monthly student loan payments<\/a> are as low as $0 for lower-income borrowers and loans can be written off completely after as little as 10 years. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden and I know that far too many people in our nation are struggling with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">student loan debt<\/a>,\u201d Harris said. \u201cThat is why we have forgiven nearly $144 billion for almost four million Americans while also creating the SAVE Plan so that millions of people can cut their payments in half or entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 40 other organizations are participating, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/White-House\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House<\/a>, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Service Employees International Union, who are promoting the plan as well. <\/p>\n<p>However, the SAVE Plan was not approved by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Congress<\/a> and has generated controversy because any unpaid debts fall on taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a policy perspective, the SAVE plan is a disaster,\u201d said the CATO Institute\u2019s Andrew Gillen. \u201cIt will cost taxpayers $475 billion just over the next ten years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SAVE adjusts previous income-driven repayment programs by reducing student loan payments from 10% to 5% of income, increasing the income exemption from payment from 150% to 225% of the poverty line, and reducing the length of repayment from 20 years to 10 years for some borrowers. Some scholars have argued it effectively turns student loans into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/articles\/bidens-income-driven-repayment-plan-would-turn-student-loans-into-untargeted-grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"untargeted grants\">untargeted grants<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>But Gillen acknowledged that it\u2019s a good deal for anyone taking out the loans.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE IN THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom an individual perspective, there is nothing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fmr-white-house-economic-adviser-kudlow-slams-sen-warrens-wealth-tax\/\" title=\"Fmr.
