Troy Nehls (R-TX) is the target of a newly revealed investigation run by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/u-s-house-of-representatives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Ethics Committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The panel <a href=\"https:\/\/ethics.house.gov\/sites\/ethics.house.gov\/files\/documents\/Press%20Release_311.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> on Tuesday that Chairman Michael Guest (R-MS) and ranking member Susan Wild (D-PA) \u201cjointly decided to extend the matter\u201d regarding Nehls after it was transmitted to the committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on December 11.<\/p>\n<p>A reason for the inquiry was not given, but Nehls released a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matthewichoi\/status\/1772709693028286671\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> that said the investigation was focused on campaign finance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to assisting the House Committee on Ethics inquiry into my campaign\u2019s finances,\u201d he said. \u201cMy campaign has complied with every Federal Election Commission (FEC) law, and my books are open.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nehls confirms it&#8217;s about his campaign finances <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vNz2XKZzd9\">pic.twitter.com\/vNz2XKZzd9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matthew Choi (@matthewichoi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matthewichoi\/status\/1772709693028286671?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 26, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The House Ethics Committee said\u00a0\u201cthat the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mike-lee-garland-wouldnt-condemn-radical-positions-of-other-doj-nominees\/\" title=\"Mike Lee: Garland Wouldn\u2019t Condemn Radical Positions Of Other DOJ Nominees\">mere fact<\/a> of a referral or an extension, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-strikes-down-abortion-restrictions-in-indiana\/\" title=\"Judge Strikes Down Abortion Restrictions In Indiana\">mandatory disclosure<\/a> of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It added that the panel will announce \u201cits course of action in this matter\u201d on or before Friday, May 10, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Nehls is a former sheriff who <a href=\"https:\/\/nehls.house.gov\/about\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">represents<\/a> the 22nd Congressional District of Texas, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dsa-member-elected-to-l-a-city-council-faces-recall-threat-less-than-6-months-after-taking-office\/\" title=\"DSA Member Elected To L.A.
