The state approved exemptions from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/4-intellectuals-who-started-out-liberal-but-ended-up-conservative\/\" title=\"4 Intellectuals Who Started Out Liberal But Ended Up Conservative\">minimum wage laws<\/a> for certain locations, citing existing high-wage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-pass-bill-critics-say-defunds-police-and-reject-proposal-to-condemn-calls-to-abolish-police\/\" title=\"Democrats Pass Bill Critics Say Defunds Police And Reject Proposal To Condemn Calls To \u2018Abolish\u2019 Police\">collective bargaining agreements<\/a>. However, controversies arose over preferential\u200d treatment, like the exemption for \u2062bread-selling restaurants linked to Gov. Gavin Newsom&#8217;s acquaintance, billionaire Greg Flynn.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>Part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Democratic Party\">California<\/a>\u2019s decay can be attributed to the corrupt governance and legislating that comes from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democratic-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Democratic Party\">Democratic Party<\/a>\u2019s single-party rule, and that continues to be on display with the state\u2019s new fast food regulations.<\/p>\n<p>California approved exemptions from its fast food <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minimum-wage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"minimum wage\">minimum wage<\/a> and oversight board law on Monday for locations in places including airports, arenas, and college campuses, among others. According to legislators, this is because the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ai-powered-fast-food-drive-thrus-make-so-many-errors-that-workers-must-intervene-70-of-the-time-employees-say\/\" title=\"70% of the time, workers have to intervene due to numerous errors made by AI-powered fast food drive-thrus\">fast food employees<\/a> at these locations already have collective bargaining agreements with higher wages and more benefits, and therefore, the law need not cover them.<\/p>\n<p>But there are more juicy details about the exemptions and the process behind them. KCRA 3, the local media outlet based in Sacramento that broke the news about Panera\u2019s possible exemption from the law (more on that later), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/california-carveouts-fast-food-labor-law\/60235541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reported\">reported<\/a> that the Service Employees International Union managed to freeze out other labor groups in negotiations over the law. That reportedly included nondisclosure agreements for representatives of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/congress-passes-ban-on-discrimination-against-americans-with-no-abilities\/\" title=\"Congress Passes Ban On Discrimination Against Americans With No Abilities\">fast food industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That brings us to the other exemption that was not just procedurally suspicious but substantively suspicious. That exemption spares restaurants from the law if they make and sell bread as a stand-alone menu item. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is friends with billionaire Greg Flynn, whose company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/beltway-confidential\/2898695\/corruption-and-hypocrisy-are-the-story-of-newsoms-tenure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"controls\">controls<\/a> several Panera Bread restaurants throughout the state. Newsom\u2019s administration then came out and said it \u201cappears\u201d Panera would not be exempt from the law under its interpretation that it reached in response to backlash.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yet it hasn\u2019t been made clear who that exemption <em>does<\/em> apply to and whether or not it applies to Panera. And while Flynn has said he would be raising the minimum wage to match the law, the law <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/62833\/californias-busybody-legislature-wants-to-control-the-fast-food-industry-and-everything-else\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"contains\">contains<\/a> other provisions aside from wages. It is all shrouded in secrecy, with exemptions handed out to be interpreted later at the convenience of California\u2019s administrative state \u2014\u00a0which is, of course, run by the Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Special carveouts and exemptions are how California has been run over the last decade, from COVID-19 lockdown <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2020\/12\/11\/hollywood-covid-filming-california-lockdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"exemptions\">exemptions<\/a> for Hollywood to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/12\/11\/californias-new-employment-law-is-starting-to-crush-freelancers.html#:~:text=since%20it%20passed.-,The%20law%20codifies%20the%20ABC%20test%20%E2%80%94%20which%20helps%20employers%20determine,tutors%2C%20truck%20drivers%20and%20manicurists.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"exemptions\">doling<\/a> out exemptions to the state\u2019s freelancing restrictions for some industries while forcing others to continue to operate under the boot. California Democrats like picking winners and losers, so long as they are doing it in backrooms out of sight of any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-to-hold-soros-prosecutors-accountable\/\" title=\"How to Hold Soros Prosecutors Accountable\">real public accountability<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California&#8217;s decline is linked to corrupt Democratic governance under single-party rule.
