Allen \u200bhas officially discouraged their mass\u200c mailing campaign, \u200cemphasizing \u2063the non-affiliation of these groups \u200cwith the state.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>Two groups are running a \u201cmisleading, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-chides-dem-activists-theres-nothing-racist-about-election-integrity-laws-like-floridas\/\" title=\"Federal court dismisses claims of racism in Florida's election integrity laws, rebukes Democratic activists.\">unsolicited mass mailing<\/a> of pre-filled voter registration forms targeting Alabama mailboxes,\u201d according to an alert from Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.alabama.gov\/index.php\/newsroom\/secretary-state-wes-allen-warns-alabamians-misleading-election-mailer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">warning<\/a>, Allen says his office has \u201cofficially discouraged\u201d the mailer, which is in no way affiliated with the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-843966243\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1f7e6037aaddf70173aad753b64410b5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1f7e6037aaddf70173aad753b64410b5\"><\/div>\n<p>Perhaps it\u2019s no surprise that left-wing groups founded by an old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/voter-participation-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clinton family friend<\/a> are behind the effort. According to the secretary of state\u2019s office, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/voter-participation-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Voter Participation Center<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/center-for-voter-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Voter Information<\/a> have said they intend at least two rounds of mass mailings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn two occasions, this Office was contacted on behalf of Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information regarding a mailer they planned to send to Alabama citizens,\u201d Allen said in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.alabama.gov\/index.php\/newsroom\/secretary-state-wes-allen-warns-alabamians-misleading-election-mailer\">alert<\/a>. \u201cIn response, I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-sure-who-misled-you-on-this-sir-but-you-dont-control-us-megyn-kelly-rips-fauci-over-wedding-comments\/\" title=\"\u2018Not Sure Who Misled You On This, Sir, But You Don\u2019t Control Us\u2019: Megyn Kelly Rips Fauci Over Wedding Comments\">strongly discouraged<\/a> the group\u2019s plan to mass mail our citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to activist tracker InfluenceWatch, the Voter Participation Center (VPC) was launched in 2003 as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/womens-voices-women-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women\u2019s Voices Women Vote<\/a>, before expanding its mission and changing its name nearly a decade later.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe group initially focused on registering the strongly Democratic-leaning voting bloc of single women to vote; today, the group organizes registration of numerous Democratic-leaning voting populations,\u201d InfluenceWatch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/voter-participation-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1d938939229823f3c590728538924393 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1d938939229823f3c590728538924393\"><\/div>\n<p>Founded with help from former President Bill Clinton\u2019s chief of staff John Podesta, the leftist nonprofit has been heavily scrutinized for trying to \u201cregister animals, dead people, infants and felons to vote,\u201d according to a 2012 Judicial Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/jw-exposes-voter-participation-center-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">probe<\/a>. The center has ties to Big Labor, including the AFL-CIO.<\/p>\n<p>The VPC\u2019s \u201cquestionable tactics to undermine the electoral process have caused concerns in several states, including New Mexico, Florida, Wisconsin and Virginia,\u201d the Judicial Watch investigative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/jw-exposes-voter-participation-center-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report states<\/a>. \u201cVPC forms are deceiving and appear to be official when they are not, according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/pjmedia.com\/tatler\/2012\/07\/26\/voter-participation-center-form-confuses-virginia-state-board-of-elections-vice-chairman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news report<\/a> that links a picture of the mailer. The VPC has also defended the famously corrupt Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) during its various scandals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Voter Participation Center and its partner nonprofit, the Center for Voter Information, were at it again in the 2020 presidential election, to the concern of election officials in several states. As left-leaning Propublica reported at the time, the Democrat-tied groups conducted a \u201cmassive campaign to register voters and promote mail-in voting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe nonprofits aim to send 340 million pieces of mail this election cycle, with a focus on two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-trumps-trial-schedule-lines-up-with-the-2024-election-calendar\/\" title=\"Trump's trial schedule aligns with the 2024 election calendar.\">dozen key states<\/a>. The groups describe themselves as nonpartisan, but they were founded by a former Democratic operative, and the organization has spent at least $47,142 this cycle to promote former Vice President Joe Biden\u2019s presidential bid and $40,065 supporting other Democrats, according to public filings,\u201d Propublica <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/a-nonprofit-with-ties-to-democrats-is-sending-out-millions-of-ballot-applications-election-officials-wish-it-would-stop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on Oct. 23, 2020, just 11 days before the election.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6226b29cd86e859a396aa6a08046f7be fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6226b29cd86e859a396aa6a08046f7be\"><\/div>\n<p>Propublica\u2019s figures were a drop in the bucket. Tax filings subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/582649-dark-money-group-spent-100m-on-voter-turnout-in-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reviewed by the Hill <\/a>found the Voter Participation Center spent more than $100 million, a sevenfold increase from what the organization spent on the 2016 presidential election. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Like other leftist groups, the center used the cover of Covid to defend its get-out-the-vote efforts targeting Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a time when in-person voter contact was sidelined for health and safety reasons, the Voter Participation Center really stood up and did the work that was needed to help register voters, to help voters learn about and sign up to vote by mail, and to educate voters on early voting in person, voting by mail and how to vote safely on election day,\u201d Tom Lopach, the group\u2019s CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/582649-dark-money-group-spent-100m-on-voter-turnout-in-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> the Hill at the time. Lopach, as the publication noted, is a longtime Democrat operative who previously served as \u201cexecutive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and a former chief of staff\u201d to Democrat Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/jon-tester\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jon Tester<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Allen said his office has in previous elections cycles received complaints from Alabama residents about \u201cincorrect pre-filled voter registration forms\u201d much like the ones from the Voter Participation Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis type of targeted, partisan interference by out-of-state, third-party organizations is unnecessary, confusing, and counterproductive,\u201d the secretary of state said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlabama citizens can rest assured that the Alabama Secretary of State\u2019s office and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/group-our-vote-matters-is-suing-facebook-dominion-mark-zuckerberg-certain-state-officials-others-for-infringing-upon-right-to-vote-assemble-and-speak-freely-you-can-jo\/\" title=\"Group \u201cOur Vote Matters\u201d Is Suing Facebook, Dominion, Mark Zuckerberg, Certain State Officials, Others for Infringing Upon Right to Vote, Assemble and Speak Freely \u2013 You Can Join Too\">local election officials<\/a> are well-equipped to handle voter registration in Alabama,\u201d Allen added. \u201cTrusted voter registration and election information can be found on the Secretary of State\u2019s official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.alabama.gov\/alabama-votes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1fb041dcc1f0ce9f04061392447f1a10 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1fb041dcc1f0ce9f04061392447f1a10\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen alerts public to \u201cmisleading\u201d voter registration mailer targeting mailboxes.
