The letter commended the Waukesha School\u2062 Board for emphasizing academic\u2063 excellence \u2063and parental rights over political divisiveness, sparking \u200bopposition from left-leaning groups.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/general-news-92ac49bd84629a2f394289359998284a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leftist<\/a> superintendent of education <a href=\"https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/statesupt\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jill Underly<\/a> long ago ripped down the veneer of nonpartisanship in the state\u2019s Department of Public Instruction (DPI).<\/p>\n<p>But in recent months, the teachers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wispolitics.com\/2021\/weac-educators-recommend-jill-underly-for-state-superintendent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">union stooge<\/a> has injected herself into politically charged local issues, campaigning for\u00a0\u201cprogressive\u201d candidates and using her taxpayer-funded office to propagandize a string of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/education\/2024\/03\/18\/waukesha-middle-school-receives-bomb-threats-after-libs-of-tiktok-post\/73022161007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bomb threats<\/a> to fit a false LGBT narrative.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-41993234\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8394c8f361203c3b5381ecc84ca702a4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8394c8f361203c3b5381ecc84ca702a4\"><\/div>\n<p>Now scores of school board members and candidates led by parental rights proponents in the Waukesha School District are standing up and speaking out against Underly\u2019s political meddling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat the DPI, through its highest ranking officer, would actively meddle in local elections and rebuke local school board members, should be viewed as a blatant conflict of interest that usurps the will of the electorate and runs afoul of local control,\u201d write Waukesha School Board President <a href=\"https:\/\/sdw.waukesha.k12.wi.us\/page\/board-members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kelly Piacsek<\/a> and board Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/sdw.waukesha.k12.wi.us\/page\/board-members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anthony Zenobia<\/a> in a soon-to-be-released <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/DPI_Waukesha_Mar2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">public letter<\/a> exclusively provided to The Federalist. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As of Monday morning, 67 school board members and candidates from across the state had signed the letter excoriating Underly for election interference.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The letter notes that the Waukesha School Board has been a \u201ctrailblazer elevating academic outcomes, parental rights and age-appropriateness over political indoctrination, divisive labeling and the sexualization of children.\u201d In short, the conservative-led board making decisions for one of Wisconsin\u2019s largest school districts has sinned against the left\u2019s DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) god, and the state\u2019s top education official isn\u2019t tolerating such transgressions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7c1a6f303e3840c40199ae631ed43a2b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7c1a6f303e3840c40199ae631ed43a2b\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Crosses the Line\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>On Saturday, March 16, Underly campaigned in Waukesha for residents <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Stephanie_Fidlin_(Waukesha_School_District_school_board_At-large,_Wisconsin,_candidate_2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephanie Fidlin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Angelique_Byrne_(Waukesha_School_District_school_board_At-large,_Wisconsin,_candidate_2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Angelique Byrne<\/a>, two of five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/school-board-elections-offer-referendum-on-woke-agenda\/\" title=\"School Board Elections Offer Referendum on Woke Agenda\">school board candidates running<\/a> for three seats in the April 2 spring election. Two of the seats are held by Piacsek and Zenobia. Eric Brooks, a fellow conservative, also is running.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Byrne is a teacher and instructional coach in the Wauwatosa School District\u2019s Vel R. Phillips Juvenile Justice Center School. Fidlin is a nurse and co-president of the PTO. Both are heartily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueskywaukesha.org\/elections\">endorsed<\/a> by leftist group Blue Sky Waukesha, \u201ca place for progressives, liberals, and independents\u201d in a traditionally conservative and electorally critical Milwaukee border county. They have also received the blessings of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Education Association (WEAC), the state teachers union.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTomorrow at 10AM, @underlyforwi is kicking off a canvass in Waukesha. SDW candidates Stephanie Fidlin and Angelique Byrne also will be there. Stephanie and Angelique are focused on rebuilding trust between community members and the district,\u201d leftist state Assembly candidate Sarah Harrison posted on social media. \u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><\/figure>\n<p>Piacsek and Zenobia said Underly\u2019s decision to insinuate herself into Waukesha\u2019s school board race is unprecedented.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bc86068a4de93ee4336fd730064565ca fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bc86068a4de93ee4336fd730064565ca\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI was quite shocked to hear she made her way to a Waukesha candidate\u2019s campaign,\u201d Piacsek told The Federalist. \u201cI know there has been a lot of outrage over the last few years about partisan ideas in nonpartisan races, but this is a little different to me. It crosses the line of objectivity that we all expect in our state agencies to have, especially DPI.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With DEI-pushing Democrat Gov. Tony Evers at the helm of state government (the leftist ruled DPI before his 2018 gubernatorial election win), any delusion of partisan politics kept out of state agencies has been shattered.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Battleground for the Soul of Education\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>But why is the nominally nonpartisan superintendent of Wisconsin\u2019s Department of Public Instruction so interested in this race? Waukesha in many ways is the hill on which the soul of education is being fought in Wisconsin. As the Badger State\u2019s seventh-largest city, Waukesha and Milwaukee\u2019s conservative surrounding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aei.org\/politics-and-public-opinion\/milwaukees-wow-counties-and-the-coming-battle-for-wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WOW counties<\/a> have long played a critical role in checking the onslaught of voters in liberal bastions Milwaukee, Madison, and other leftist-heavy cities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Piacsek and Zenobia helped lead a revolution against liberal educrats who have pushed everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-overwhelmingly-support-racist-critical-race-theory-while-rest-of-u-s-soundly-rejects-it-poll\/\" title=\"Democrats Overwhelmingly Support Racist Critical Race Theory While Rest Of U.S. Soundly Rejects It: Poll\">racist critical race theory<\/a> to sexualizing children and pushing pornography in public schools across the country \u2014 all in the name of far-left identity politics and power. Covid lockdowns cast a red-hot spotlight on the DEI-dominated policies of schools, and parents like Piacsek and Zenobia began fighting back and getting elected to school boards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With a solid majority on the Waukesha School Board, common-sense members have worked to take sexually inappropriate material out of the classrooms and libraries. They\u2019ve removed the pride flags, plus Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, and other ideological signs and banners from the district\u2019s schools. They have passed a <a href=\"https:\/\/go.boarddocs.com\/wi\/wauk\/Board.nsf\/files\/CMTPT466184A\/%24file\/Resolution%201-11-23.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parental rights and transparency resolution<\/a> that in part demands, \u201cParents have a right to know what is being taught in their child\u2019s classrooms \u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Underly in \u2018Rainbowland\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>This move to return parental control over local public education decisions has infuriated the left and their allies in the accomplice media. Perhaps nothing better illustrates how apoplectic Democrats have gone than the ginned-up \u201cRainbowland\u201d scandal. After administrators deemed inappropriate an elementary school music teacher\u2019s request to have first-graders sing the Miley Cyrus\/Dolly Parton LGBT pride anthem, a first-grade teacher blasted the decision on her Twitter account. The tweet, of course, went viral.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy Rainbowland? My guess: The beautiful LYRICS. Because saying an ARTIST is controversial would be a very slippery slope and they wouldn\u2019t want to go there. The foundation, the circulation-dwindling Milwaukee Journal triumphantly reported, \u201cpledged to donate to Pride and Less Prejudice, an organization that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prideandlessprejudice.org\/our-impact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has sent over 8,500 LGBTQ-inclusive books<\/a> to over 3,000 pre-kindergarten through third-grade classrooms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tempel was placed on administrative leave and eventually lost her job. LGBT activists called for Waukesha Superintendent James Sebert to be investigated and fired, not necessarily in that order.\u00a0And Tempel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmtoday.com\/the_freeman\/news\/federal-judge-denies-district-s-motion-to-dismiss-tempel-s-suit\/article_e7e72687-8514-58a9-bd54-83c9b2e2b52e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed a lawsuit<\/a> alleging her First Amendment rights were violated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s politically motivated education secretary, of course, injected herself into the local matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI write today because I am deeply troubled by the harm caused as you\u2019ve applied the School District of Waukesha\u2019s controversial issues policy. Whether you realize it or not, you are, under the guise of protection, causing undue harm to students and staff. However, this damage is reversible. It is paramount that you change course now,\u201d Underly wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmtoday.com\/state-superintendent-underlys-letter-to-waukesha-superintendent-sebert-and-sdw-board\/pdf_49ef6a78-e04b-11ed-9a6d-f32aaa474bd8.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> dated April 12, 2023, to the Waukesha School Board.<\/p>\n<p>Republican state lawmakers from the area fired back with their own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmtoday.com\/letter-from-state-representatives-to-superintendent-underly\/pdf_08880dec-e04b-11ed-bced-07bc9c8c4644.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> charging that Underly stepped all over local control in intervening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe controversy has to do with a school district policy that seeks to keep the focus on education instead of indoctrination. In calling for a change to that policy, Superintendent Underly is violating the principle of local control of school boards,\u201d wrote the lawmakers. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Regarded as Opponents\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Perhaps it shouldn\u2019t have come as a surprise when Underly again injected herself into a Waukesha schools issue following a recent series of school bombing threats, as well as a school shooting scare. The threats, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/scl\/fi\/b9yzrued38v91d4fvvodz\/Butler-Middle-School-Briefing-3.15.24-Chad-Pergande.mp4?rlkey=fpumr9w8uo330unhejkte1lil&#038;dl=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-brian-laundrie-confessed-in-notebook-to-gabby-petitos-murder\/\" title=\"FBI: Brian Laundrie Confessed in Notebook to Gabby Petito\u2019s Murder\">law enforcement officials found<\/a><\/a> to be from Russia and Nigeria and bogus, followed a Libs of TikTok post on X (formerly Twitter), calling out a liberal assistant principal at a Waukesha middle school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeet Jeffrey Taege. He\u2019s an assistant principal at Butler Middle School in @waukeshaschools. He thinks parents shouldn\u2019t have a say in their kids\u2019 education and the community and not the parent is responsible for children\u2019s education,\u201d the popular conservative social media account declared. Taege has criticized the district\u2019s parental rights policies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"WaQhkvqrSLY7I6txTRim3JNEHlXOB24n9ZdzP1MVy5uwGC\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Meet Jeffrey Taege. Democrat activists turned the bogus threats into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/education\/2024\/03\/18\/waukesha-middle-school-receives-bomb-threats-after-libs-of-tiktok-post\/73022161007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rhetorical cudgels<\/a> against the district\u2019s checks on the DEI agenda. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As things began to quiet down in Waukesha, Underly stirred the pot again with a politically charged <a href=\"https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/news\/releases\/2024\/jill-underly-statement-waukesha-bomb-threats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> attacking Waukesha\u2019s parental rights policies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd let\u2019s not pretend these threats are coming out of thin air. They are generated by hate, especially toward the LGBTQ+ community. We must stand up for, and stand with, every educator and every child. We can\u2019t leave anyone behind,\u201d Underly sneered.\u00a0\u201cThese threats are based on nothing more than targeted hate. And now out-of-state hate groups are using social media to target all of us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No, they\u2019re not. But Underly, bought and paid for by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisdc.org\/news\/press-releases\/132-press-release-2021\/6784-jill-underly-raises-1-3m-mostly-from-state-dem-party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democratic Party<\/a>, wasn\u2019t going to let the facts get in the way of a political narrative this close to the election.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Zenobia said Underly is clearly interfering in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anti-crt-parents-win-school-board-victories-throughout-america\/\" title=\"Anti-CRT Parents Win School Board Victories Throughout America\">local school board races<\/a> where conservatives have had significant success in rolling back leftist indoctrination in public schools \u2014 a school board that has been an example to others across the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I have knocked doors and talked to people in the district, the main issue I\u2019m hearing is parental rights and getting stuff out of school that doesn\u2019t belong there,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/school-board-member-claims-to-be-victim-of-homophobic-vandalism-no-one-will-provide-the-police-report\/\" title=\"School Board Member Claims To Be Victim Of Homophobic Vandalism. No One Will Provide The Police Report.\">school board vice president<\/a> said. \u201cIt has been a big issue on the state level and [Underly and her allies] know that and are really worried Kelly and I will remain on the board in a position of leadership for another three years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DPI did not return The Federalist\u2019s requests for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The letter by the school board members and candidates asks: \u201cWhat is the fate of school boards like ours whose duly elected members are regarded as opponents by the top office in the Department of Public Instruction?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnderly should go back to Madison where there is much work to do to improve the sad state of Wisconsin\u2019s public education system.
