Yet the left\u2019s reaction to growing female concerns about contraception would seem to suggest otherwise. Apparently, women sharing their stories about the pill \u2014 and deciding to reject it in favor of embracing the natural cycles of their fertility \u2014 is not a choice they are supposed to make.<\/p>\n<p>On March 21, The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/03\/21\/birth-control-misinformation-surges-fraught-moment-reproductive-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unleashed a flurry<\/a> of \u201creporting\u201d on an alleged \u201cmisinformation explosion\u201d regarding birth control that included a \u201ccascade of misleading videos vilifying hormonal contraception\u201d on social media outlets such as TikTok and Instagram. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2024\/03\/21\/birth-control-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Debunking common birth-control misconceptions<\/a>,\u201d was the title of one such WaPo article, which noted \u201cmisconceptions about the safety and efficacy of hormonal birth-control methods\u201d by citing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2024\/03\/21\/stopping-birth-control-misinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another WaPo article<\/a> released on the same day. That other WaPo article, in turn, circularly cited the \u201cdebunking\u201d article as evidence for the \u201ccascade of misleading videos.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1020912703\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ca12f77df69d8bd43a25e26e53147c05 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ca12f77df69d8bd43a25e26e53147c05\"><\/div>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/01\/30\/young-women-abandoning-birth-control-pills-for-mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">growing number of American women<\/a> are sharing their stories about their experiences with birth control, noting all manner of negative side effects. Yet, the WaPo claims, those experiences don\u2019t align with \u201cthe data,\u201d which, its reporters claim with straight faces, demonstrate that the likelihood of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-risk-of-blood-clots-from-the-pill-is-over-2000-times-higher-than-the-jj-vaccine-why-is-the-fda-rushing-to-pause-the-vaccine\/\" title=\"The Risk Of Blood Clots From The Pill Is Over 2,000 Times Higher Than The J&#038;J Vaccine. Why Is The FDA Rushing To Pause The Vaccine?\">developing blood clots<\/a>, gaining weight, becoming depressed, suffering other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-year-old-girl-pepper-sprayed-during-interaction-with-rochester-police\/\" title=\"9-Year-Old Girl Pepper Sprayed During Interaction With Rochester Police\">mental health issues<\/a>, or increasing the likelihood of infertility are all low. (Would you be surprised to learn that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1228086\/top-funders-contraception-rd-funding-worldwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leading funders for contraception research<\/a> and development worldwide include the pro-contraceptive Gates Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the contraceptive industry itself?)<\/p>\n<p>Yet not satisfied just to cite a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gminsights.com\/industry-analysis\/contraceptives-market-report#:~:text=Based%20on%20distribution%20channel%2C%20the,USD%2017.6%20billion%20by%202032.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$21.5 billion industry<\/a> that has every incentive to encourage pro-contraceptive research and discourage findings that undermine the narrative that contraception is a critical component to female empowerment, corporate media are taking it upon themselves to silence the dissenters. \u201cTikTok recently removed at least five videos linking birth control to mental health issues and other health problems after The Post asked how the company prevents the spread of misinformation,\u201d reports WaPo in self-congratulation. <\/p>\n<p>Nor is WaPo alone: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/opinion\/msnbc-opinion\/birth-control-ban-alliance-defending-freedom-rcna119675\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MSNBC<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/americanexperience\/features\/pill-and-womens-liberation-movement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PBS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/24\/opinion\/pro-life-birth-control-abortion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2023-04-12\/abortion-contraception-mifespristone-pill-birth-control-healthcare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">L.A. Times<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/news-and-politics\/2024\/03\/fight-against-birth-control-strategy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Slate<\/a>, among others, are all ringing the warning bell of \u201cmisinformed\u201d public concern about contraception \u2014 hey, such efforts worked to stop \u201cmisinformation\u201d about <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/17\/politics\/supreme-court-social-media-disinformation-first-amendment-covid-election-2024\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Covid<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7news.com\/former-twitter-execs-say-removal-of-hunter-biden-laptop-story-was-a\/12790381\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hunter Biden laptop story<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also the concerning fact that the Biden administration earlier this month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2024\/03\/18\/fact-sheet-president-biden-issues-executive-order-and-announces-new-actions-to-advance-womens-health-research-and-innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued an executive order<\/a> to \u201cadvance women\u2019s health research and innovation\u201d to the tune of $12 billion. Indeed, the U.S. government is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/global-health-policy\/fact-sheet\/the-u-s-government-and-international-family-planning-reproductive-health-efforts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">largest donor<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mcenany-rips-tapper-after-he-implies-shes-appealing-to-conspiracists\/\" title=\"McEnany Rips Tapper After He Implies She\u2019s Appealing To Conspiracists\">global family planning<\/a> and reproductive health services efforts and is one of the largest purchasers and distributors of contraceptives internationally, spending more than half a billion dollars on it annually. But surely an alliance of media, government, and \u201cBig Science\u201d to promote contraception doesn\u2019t present any conflict of interest, right?<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f70b79c7f480eef4b5dd3e1869d3bce1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f70b79c7f480eef4b5dd3e1869d3bce1\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Problems with Contraceptives Are Too Obvious to Ignore<\/h2>\n<p>It is worth understanding what exactly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-exactly-happens-in-chinese-concentration-camps\/\" title=\"What Exactly Happens In Chinese Concentration Camps?\">birth control pills<\/a> are: synthetic steroid hormones, consisting of progestin and sometimes also estrogen, which suppress the release of certain hormones from the pituitary gland in the female body. This significantly reduces the chances of ovulation and, consequently, fertilization by a male sperm cell. Obviously, injecting hormones into one\u2019s body, potentially for years, is not natural, which is why <a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/treatments\/3977-birth-control-the-pill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">medical websites<\/a> with no anti-contraception agenda acknowledge the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/birth-control-effects-on-body#mood-swings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">manifold number of potential side effects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, of course, we are also talking about a chemical solution that since the 1960s has been billed as the <a href=\"https:\/\/dash.harvard.edu\/handle\/1\/2624453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preeminent liberator<\/a> and empowerer of women the world over. \u201cThe pill, along with safe, legalized abortions are the two biggest keys to women\u2019s rights,\u201d Dr. Sarah E. Hill, author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/This-Your-Brain-Birth-Control\/dp\/0525536035\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>This Is Your Brain On Birth Control<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/2019\/oct\/19\/dr-sarah-e-hill-how-pill-influences-womens-brains\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told The Guardian four years ago<\/a>. Thus even as research piles up regarding the effects of contraception \u2014 including on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uclahealth.org\/news\/study-shows-how-birth-control-pills-affect-womens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stress levels<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/clinical\/clinical-guidance\/practice-advisory\/articles\/2018\/01\/hormonal-contraception-and-risk-of-breast-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">incidence rates of breast cancer<\/a>, attraction, sexual motivation, hunger, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0091302222000620\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eating patterns<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/07\/28\/if-youre-sick-from-the-pill-try-these-alternatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">emotion regulation<\/a>, friendships, aggression, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/14\/study-shows-oral-birth-control-greatly-raises-risk-of-depression-for-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mood<\/a>, and learning \u2014 the media, government, and pharmaceutical industries have an obvious reason to downplay or disparage such research as \u201cmisinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nor should we lose sight of the purpose of all these chemical and plastic procedures: obstructing the natural processes of the female body. Contraception, whether it be the pill, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/02\/its-not-just-britney-spears-iuds-hurt-women-everywhere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">intrauterine devices<\/a>, or anything else, are not like other medicines or procedures aimed at helping the body do what it is naturally intended to do, but to <em>prevent <\/em>it from doing so. The contraceptive mentality sees female fertility as a problem to be solved, not a biological reality for women to understand, appreciate, and celebrate. This explains a bizarre zeitgeist in which those who usually champion all things natural find themselves deriding natural alternatives to contraceptives, though \u201cnatural\u201d is precisely how to describe family planning methods that seek to understand women\u2019s natural reproductive cycle, rather than curb it with chemicals or plastics.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Women Must Be Free to Tell Their Stories<\/h2>\n<p>Mary Harrington in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regnery.com\/9781684515264\/feminism-against-progress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Feminism Against Progress<\/em><\/a>, urges women to become \u201cun-neutered by progesterone\u201d and take command of their own reproductive cycle. \u201cBy thus reclaiming human sexuality as something that men and women govern together as part of our common life, we can begin to claw the power of sexuality back from its current jaded, affectless role as low-consequence leisure activity or mere marketing tool.\u201d Harrington learned that lesson from personal experience, as have <a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/category\/birth-control-issues\/coming-off-the-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">many other women<\/a> now coming forward to tell their stories.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bf136004831990f21588f294b570a41b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bf136004831990f21588f294b570a41b\"><\/div>\n<p>The irony and hypocrisy of leftist elite attacks on women rejecting birth control is arresting. Female autonomy is an indisputable goal of the feminist movement\u2026 except for women who question the pill. Women\u2019s voices need to be heard and amplified\u2026 except for those who repudiate our contraceptive culture. Women should seek to understand and embrace their bodies as naturally good\u2026 except when it comes to their reproductive cycles.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, haven\u2019t we come to expect this from the leftist establishment as it pertains to \u201cacceptable\u201d female behavior? Women who <a href=\"https:\/\/europeanconservative.com\/articles\/news\/study-shows-60-of-women-regret-their-decision-to-abort\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">come to regret their abortions<\/a> and speak out against Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/08\/27\/the-washington-post-just-proved-abby-johnsons-point-on-abortion-as-a-horror-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">are vilified<\/a>. Those who choose raising a family over pursuing a career <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/why-is-stay-at-home-mom-shaming-still-happening_b_58addc05e4b0d818c4f0a4d2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">are ridiculed<\/a>. Those who celebrate traditional gender roles are <a href=\"https:\/\/katiecouric.com\/entertainment\/what-is-a-tradwife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">labeled extremists and white supremacists<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Some might ask, based on this prejudicial policing of what women can and can\u2019t discuss in the public square, if modern feminism and its gatekeepers in the media, academy, government, or medical industry can faithfully and fairly represent American women and their diversity of opinions and experiences.
