Her Family Finally Has Answers.\">family members searched<\/a> tirelessly \u200bwith no success, escalating the situation into a nightmarish ordeal.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>A family vacation turned into a nightmare when a family could not find their 8-year-old daughter at the Hilton DoubleTree <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hotel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Houston\">hotel<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/houston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Houston\">Houston<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>She had been reported missing on Saturday at around 6 p.m. after being last seen at the hotel\u2019s lazy river-style swimming pool.<\/p>\n<p>Family members <a href=\"https:\/\/abc13.com\/aliyah-lynette-jaico-death-8-year-old-girl-dies-at-doubletree-by-hilton-pool-houston-hotel-malfunction-drowning\/14569227\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"searched\">searched<\/a> all over the hotel property for hours, and then when investigators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newschannel10.com\/2024\/03\/25\/8-year-old-girl-found-dead-hotel-pools-pipe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reviewed\">reviewed<\/a> security video, they saw the girl, Aliyah Jaico, in the pool, but she did not resurface.<\/p>\n<p>The pool was then drained so they could check the pipes. Officials spent 13 hours searching the pool to discover that the 8-year-old had been sucked 20 feet into the pool pipe.<\/p>\n<p>According to the medical examiner, the girl\u2019s death was caused by drowning and mechanical asphyxia.<\/p>\n<p>Officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/news\/houston-texas\/article\/houston-hotel-death-inspection-report-pool-closed-19367983.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reportedly\">reportedly<\/a> said that the malfunctioning pool pipe was not pumping water in but instead was sucking water out.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Houston Health Department, the last inspection of the pool in June 2023 noted that doors to the pool didn\u2019t self-latch, had poor signage, and lacked a working emergency phone.<\/p>\n<p>Jaico\u2019s mother, Daniela, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/story.php?story_fbid=3652541475015946&#038;id=100007803870452\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"shared\">shared<\/a> online her heartbreak of losing her daughter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey say we all have our destiny marked \u2026 but I can\u2019t understand why yours was like this,\u201d Daniela Jaico wrote about her daughter on social media in Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cYou are the most beautiful thing God has given me and after every battle we went through together, we didn\u2019t win this one.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A family vacation at Hilton DoubleTree hotel in Houston turned into a nightmare when an 8-year-old girl went missing from the lazy river-style swimming pool area.
