Vitels \u2062encountered Halley Tejada and Kensly Alston squatting in her\u2063 mother\u2019s\u200c apartment, leading to a fatal confrontation. The teens were found driving Vitels\u2019s stolen car after\u2063 a collision, prompting their arrest on charges of receiving stolen property.\u200c They may face extradition to New York.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Two teenage squatters wanted in connection to the <a href=\"https:\/\/local21news.com\/news\/local\/suspects-in-nyc-womans-murder-case-arrested-in-central-pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">killing<\/a> of 52-year-old Nadia Vitels in New York have been taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>Vitels and the two teens, Halley Tejada, 19, and Kensly Alston, 18, got into a confrontation earlier this month when Vitels went to her late mother\u2019s apartment and found the pair occupying the home, <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/nyc-squatters-murder-pennsylvania\/14558280\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to ABC 7 New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 52-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/nyc-squatters-murder-pennsylvania\/14558280\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> died of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-even-admits-theres-still-no-evidence-capitol-officer-sicknick-was-killed-by-blunt-force-to-the-head-on-january-6th\/\" title=\"CNN Even Admits There\u2019s Still No Evidence Capitol Officer Sicknick Was Killed by Blunt Force to the Head on January 6th\">blunt force trauma<\/a> to the head and suffered multiple facial fractures, a brain bleed, and broken ribs. She was later found stuffed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-gov-abbott-blasts-biden-administrations-reckless-immigration-move-saying-it-endangers-americans\/\" title=\"Texas Gov. Abbott Blasts Biden Administration\u2019s \u201cReckless\u201d Immigration Move, Saying It Endangers Americans\">duffle bag inside<\/a> the apartment after Vitels\u2019s son went to the apartment to check on her.<\/p>\n<p>Tejada and Alston were arrested in Pennsylvania, after a car accident. The pair were driving Vitels\u2019s Lexus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth Halley Tejada and Kensly Alston were taken into custody in the 200 block of Liberty Court, York, PA on charges of receiving stolen property (RSP),\u201d a press release from the\u00a0U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmarshals.gov\/news\/press-release\/us-marshals-service-fugitive-task-force-arrests-manhattan-murder-suspects-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe charges stem from a motor vehicle accident that happened on March 13, 2024, when the vehicle that Kensly Alston was driving collided with another vehicle causing an accident in the 5000 block of Jonestown Road, Dauphin County, PA. It was later discovered that the vehicle belonged to a murder victim out of Kips Bay, NY.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-did-an-app-expose-alleged-drug-syndicates-contract-killers-and-weapons-dealers-leading-to-800-arrests-worldwide\/\" title=\"How Did An App Expose \u2018Alleged Drug Syndicates, Contract Killers And Weapons Dealers,\u2019 Leading To 800+ Arrests Worldwide?\">press release noted<\/a> that investigators were able to identify both Tejada and Alston as persons of interest related to the homicide of Vitels. The pair face possible extradition back to New York.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Squatting has become an increasing problem in cities across the country in the wake of the pandemic. A leftist push for tenants\u2019 rights in conjunction with pandemic-related eviction moratoriums are believed to have spurred the crisis. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Just last month, a woman in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Queens, New York, named Adele Andaloro was <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/squatters-standoff-queens-new-york-city\/14540298\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> for changing the locks to her own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blm-issues-new-demands-convict-trump-investigate-military-dont-compare-captiol-attack-to-riot-marred-freedom-summer\/\" title=\"BLM Issues New Demands: \u2018Convict\u2019 Trump, Investigate Military, Don\u2019t Compare Captiol Attack To Riot-Marred \u2018Freedom Summer\u2019\">million-dollar home<\/a> in an attempt to remove at least three people who were living there illegally. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In early February, the property was taken over by the squatters, who locked Andaloro out of the home. When ABC 7 took cameras to the property to investigate the matter, Andaloro was able to briefly get into her home after one female squatter left the door unlocked. She then had a locksmith change the locks, but just<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> ten minutes later,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> two male squatters came back to the home and forced themselves inside. The squatters then called the police on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andaloro<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">homeowner<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">she<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was arrested for \u201cunlawful eviction.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In New York City, squatters have rights after just 30 days. It\u2019s against the law for property owners to turn off utilities, remove belongings, or change the locks. Property owners have to take squatters to court, a legal avenue that can take months or possibly years to resolve.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cities like Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Atlanta have also seen alarming trends with illegally occupied homes. For example, the National Rental Home Council in January <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-01-25\/atlanta-landlords-confront-squatting-surge-in-vacant-rental-homes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">found<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that around 1,200 homes in the metro Atlanta area had squatters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Some politicians are now taking on the issue. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Republican-controlled Florida Senate earlier this month <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/weartv.com\/news\/local\/florida-lawmakers-pass-bill-to-revoke-squatters-rights-protect-property-owners\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">passed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> HB 621, which allows property owners to request action by law enforcement to immediately remove squatters and could lead to criminal penalties. Lawmakers in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aldailynews.com\/briefs-alabama-lawmakers-advance-bills-targeting-squatters-illegal-organ-retention\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alabama<\/span><\/a>\u00a0have also\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">advanced a Republican-sponsored HB 182, which gives property owners the right to have a squatter removed by law enforcement within 24 hours of signing a sworn affidavit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In New York, two teens, Halley Tejada, 19, and Kensly Alston, 18, were arrested in connection with the death of 52-year-old Nadia Vitels.
