Companies were \u2062graded on a\u200d scale from \u2018A\u2019 \u2062to \u200d\u2018H,\u2019 with \u2018A\u2019 representing \u200bthe closest alignment to the 1.5-degree Celsius target and \u2018H\u2019 representing the furthest deviation, potentially leading to a 2.4-degree Celsius temperature rise by 2100.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The top \u2062performer, BP, received a D-\u2064 grade, while ConocoPhillips ranked at the bottom with an H.<\/li>\n<li>Notably, three of the lowest-scoring firms\u2014ExxonMobil, Pioneer, \u200band ConocoPhillips\u2014are based in the U.S.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite industry\u2064 promises to reduce\u2064 emissions and improve practices, such as curbing methane releases, \u200bcompanies like \u2062ConocoPhillips, Saudi\u200b Aramco, Pioneer, and ExxonMobil are\u200d falling short in their climate commitments.<\/p>\n<p>During \u2063an industry event in \u2062Houston, Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser\u2062 emphasized the\u200b need for investing in cleaner technologies rather than hastening the transition to renewables.<\/p>\n<p>The disconnect between corporate rhetoric on\u2062 climate action and their actual investments and operations\u200d underscores the urgent need for accountability from\u2064 stakeholders.
