Currently, \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-senator-stabenow-doubles-down-on-tone-deaf-electric-car-comments\/\" title=\"Dem Senator Stabenow Doubles Down On Tone-Deaf Electric Car Comments\">electric cars make<\/a> up just a sliver of the \u200dtotal vehicles, with \u200c <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/afdc.energy.gov\/data\/10962\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">903,000<\/a><\/strong>  out of California&#8217;s\u200d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/196010\/total-number-of-registered-automobiles-in-the-us-by-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">14.3 million<\/a><\/strong>  \u2063registered \u200bautos. This surge in \u2064expenses is not\u2063 going unnoticed, \u2063as \u200bPresident Joe Biden \u2064aims to model national\u2064 green energy policies after California&#8217;s ambitious benchmarks, championing \u2063the\u2063 upswing in \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/highways.dot.gov\/newsroom\/biden-harris-administration-releases-first-ever-national-strategy-accelerate-deployment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric freight trucks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2024\/01\/19\/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-announces-new-actions-to-cut-electric-vehicle-costs-for-americans-and-continue-building-out-a-convenient-reliable-made-in-america-ev-charging-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EV sales<\/a>. But skeptics warn that California&#8217;s relentless push for renewables might be counterproductive to its EV goals.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Policy choices have driven\u2062 up electricity \u2064prices in California,\u2062 paradoxically \u200dclashing with\u2063 their goal \u2064to increase electric vehicle uptake,&#8221; voiced Wayne Winegarden, a senior fellow at \u200cthe Pacific Research Institute.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Others question the\u200b plausibility \u2062of California achieving a fully electric vehicle fleet powered by renewable sources like sun and wind. \u200d <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Making California&#8217;s transport fleet \u200dall-electric requires \u2063a massive boost in electricity \u2062supply. Without a concrete plan, this \u2062seems like a pipe dream,&#8221; commented Edward Ring, cofounder of the California Policy Center and an \u200denergy \u2064policy expert.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite the dominant role of fossil\u200c fuels in California&#8217;s energy mix, the state&#8217;s transport sector remains the largest consumer \u200dof oil and gas. Transitioning to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/millions-without-power-in-texas-energy-prices-climb\/\" title=\"Millions Without Power In Texas; Energy Prices Climb\">electric grid<\/a> \u2062could \u2064precipitate an energy crisis, exacerbated\u200d by \u2064California&#8217;s goal of a 100 \u200bpercent carbon-neutral grid by 2045. Considering \u2062that solar\u2064 and wind energy contribute only 17 and 8 percent \u200brespectively to California&#8217;s energy grid, realizing a full \u200btransition to\u200b renewables would \u200cdemand \u200ban extraordinary <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/article\/californias-impossible-war-on-oil-and-gas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expansion of energy generation<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;If our end-game is total electrification, where will all\u200d the energy originate? Banking solely on wind \u2064and\u2063 solar is simply unrealistic,&#8221; Ring added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Recognizing the potential\u200d grid strain, Governor\u200c Gavin Newsom \u200cchampioned a move to temporarily preserve \u200cCalifornia&#8217;s last \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/japan-residents-speak-on-magnitude-7-3-earthquake\/\" title=\"Japan residents speak on magnitude 7.3 earthquake\">nuclear power plant<\/a>, once\u200d destined for closure. Though\u200c controversial \u200damong environmental groups, nuclear \u200cenergy is carbon-free and represents close to 10 percent of state power production.<\/p>\n<p>To tackle the soaring \u200bcosts \u200dfor offshore wind, Californians may see new subsidies,\u2064 ensuring a market presence for wind production, which might paradoxically elevate power\u2063 prices further. Simultaneously, \u2063the\u2063 California leader and utility commission promote an &#8220;equitable&#8221; income-driven \u2062electric billing system, aiming \u200bto\u200d ease the burden on EV owners charged\u2063 based on consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The rise in energy expenses stirs\u2064 fears that costly electricity may deter the public from embracing \u200dEVs, despite the environmentalist community urging a shift away from gasoline vehicles.
