Of course, we celebrate just Ken, not the woman \u200dwho\u2019s the lead\u200d in it, and \u200bthe icon in it,\u201d Alyssa Farah Griffin\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheView\/status\/1750337698655883496?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ranted<\/a> on \u201cThe View.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barbie was admittedly funny,\u200b aesthetically pleasing, well-acted, and \u2063creative in an age where directors merely remake or produce\u2064 sequels of once-great films. It\u200c is because of\u200b this that despite its feminist messaging, the film raked in millions at the box office, avoiding the fate of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/entertainment\/films\/1782594\/Disney-Pixar-Elemental-movie-box-office-bomb-woke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most overtly \u200cpolitical<\/a> movies.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-fc0e79c60b9d73d2b6522c77bc74ceb0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-fc0e79c60b9d73d2b6522c77bc74ceb0\"><\/div>\n<p>But the film was\u200d hypocritical, as are most of\u2064 its virulent defenders. In one of the culminating scenes in \u2064the film, America Ferrara monologues about the double standards modern women constantly\u200d face.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u200c have to answer for men\u2019s bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you\u2019re accused of complaining. You\u2019re supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other\u2062 women because you\u2019re supposed to be a part of the sisterhood,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>But as Ferrara\u2019s character sounded off about how unfair it was that women had to\u2063 \u201canswer \u2064for men\u2019s bad behavior,\u201d just a few scenes earlier her film\u2019s producers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepinknews.com\/2023\/04\/05\/hari-nef-barbie-letter-greta-gerwig-trans-representation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">placed<\/a> a man in lipstick \u200band heels as a vapid caricature\u2063 of womanhood.<\/p>\n<p>Riley Gaines detailed in \u200ba recent interview with Joe\u200b Rogan how she lost out to male swimmer Lia Thomas\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EricAbbenante\/status\/1766968532934221849\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">despite<\/a> tying with his exact time of 1:43:40 in the Women\u2019s 200 Yard Freestyle at the NCAA championships.
