Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) \u200breposted FCC \u2062Commissioner Brendan Carr\u2019s post on X,\u200d pointing out \u2063the duplicitous nature\u2064 of TikTok\u2019s data \u200dstorage. TikTok previously acknowledged in a letter to the U.S. Senate \u2063that it did store some information from its \u200dpaid creators in China despite Trump\u2019s order.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But of course, TikTok\u200c had not changed its \u200bways. Curtis is running for Utah\u2019s open senate seat this November.<\/p>\n<h3>Bill \u200dAims to Protect\u200d Americans<\/h3>\n<p>Committee\u200b members issued statements to explain the purpose of the\u200c bill \u200din a press conference as not only about China, but about all apps \u2064owned by China,\u2064 Russia,\u2062 or Iran.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A lot of people are going to say that this is anti-technology, or\u2026 that\u200d this is\u200c somehow a specifically anti-TikTok piece of legislation \u2014\u2062 nothing could be further from the truth,&#8221; Rep. Chip Roy\u200d (R-TX) said at \u2062the press conference. &#8220;This is\u200d about making \u200dsure our foreign adversaries cannot be targeting Americans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wanted to make \u200cit clear\u200d we do not want to ban TikTok, we just want\u200c its ties to the CCP severed permanently and irrevocably,&#8221; Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA) said in\u2064 a statement. &#8220;As explained\u2062 above,\u200d if TikTok is sold\u200b by ByteDance, it is free to operate\u2062 in the United States.
