But starting in 2020, like so many other cities, Atlanta chose to demonize police officers. So inevitably, Buckhead became extremely dangerous. Shootouts and carjackings became common, even in broad daylight, at the central mall. Instead of protecting their cash cow in Buckhead, officials in Atlanta allowed the mob to run rampant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In response, the residents of the town attempted to do something radical, at least by the standards of modern politics. They tried to secede from the city and establish their own independent government \u2014 one that actually respected police officers, and paid them well. The plan nearly worked, but about a year ago ten Republican state senators in Georgia <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/buckhead-city-secession-vote-fa2922b5d611512bfd6e0cc6f38e002c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">joined<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with Democrats to prevent it. Apparently, there is bipartisan disapproval in Georgia of any proposal that involves enforcing the law. That\u2019s one of the few things you can get both Democrats and Republicans to agree on. So Buckhead\u2019s secession was shot down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the time, it was easy to dismiss Buckhead\u2019s effort as a lark \u2014 as the vanity project of a few affluent conservatives living in gated communities in northwest Atlanta. And indeed that\u2019s what most of the media did, as you\u2019d expect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vox <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2022\/2\/16\/22937599\/buckhead-atlanta-today-explained-noel-king\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">called<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the idea a product of the \u201cwhite power structure\u201d in Atlanta. Politico <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2022\/09\/16\/atlanta-black-mecca-inequality-00055390\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mocked<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the secession effort as \u201cmighty.\u201d To the extent that the mainstream, Left-wing corporate press talked about Buckhead, it was to emphasize that the residents of Buckhead are radicals \u2014 insurrectionists, even \u2014 who have nothing in common with most of America. But that wasn\u2019t true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As NewsNation pointed out, Buckhead was just one of several municipalities throughout the country that were thinking of seceding. Watch:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So it\u2019s not just Buckhead, as it turns out. Counties in Long Island, Idaho, Oregon, Illinois, and San Bernardino, were thinking of doing the same thing. That looks like a pattern \u2014 but it\u2019s one that didn\u2019t get much attention at the time. Now we\u2019re learning that this pattern is far more widespread than it may have appeared.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Researchers at YouGov have <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-13165371\/Goodbye-America-voters-want-state-secede-union-Texas-California-New-York-Alaska.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">found<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that roughly quarter of U.S. adults \u2014 23% \u2014 currently want their state to secede from the United States. Only 51% of respondents opposed secession, while another 27% were unsure. At the state level, the highest percentage in favor of secession was in Alaska, where 36% of adults want out. The next highest is California, at 29%, followed by 28% of New Yorkers. Oklahomans are at 28%. Nebraskans, Georgians, Floridians, and Washingtonians aren\u2019t far behind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/episode\/ep-1323-why-millions-of-americans-want-to-secede-from-the-union-member-exclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a country that had any interest in self-preservation whatsoever, this poll would be leading every primetime television news broadcast. There would be all kinds of experts trying to figure out what could possibly explain these figures, and what our elected representatives could do about it. These polls are yet more evidence that Americans have nothing fundamentally in common anymore. We aren\u2019t bound by race, creed, or ancestry like people in most other countries are. In lieu of that, we used to have shared principles, a shared basic belief system to unify us. We don\u2019t have that anymore. We can\u2019t even agree that \u201call lives matter,\u201d which you\u2019d think would be a pretty basic starting point. We can\u2019t agree that only women have babies. We can\u2019t agree on basically any fundamental fact of reality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meanwhile a major political party demonizes white people as a matter of course. Our politicians seem far more concerned about the sovereignty of foreign states than they care about our own. We are people from different philosophical universes all crammed together, and that\u2019s reflected at every level of our leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The other reason that secession is so popular is that people rightly feel the federal government does not have our interests at heart. When the government prioritizes citizens of other countries over our own, people become disenfranchised. There\u2019s certainly no sense of loyalty to the federal government, as it clearly has no loyalty to us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maybe no story in the past few days has made that clearer than the murder of Laken Riley. She was a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University, who was jogging on February 22nd at the campus of the University of Georgia. Watch:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As you saw, very quickly, the authorities identified that the suspected killer was an illegal immigrant. That\u2019s an important detail, but most of the major media simply ignored it, or downplayed it. For example, the Associated Press <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/woman-dead-university-georgia-augusta-nursing-student-1e41b14c2d1e7c4889bc509abf5b42df\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that the accused killer was an, \u201cAthens resident.\u201d They also refer to the suspect as a \u201c26-year-old man.\u201d But they don\u2019t report that he\u2019s an illegal alien until the seventh paragraph of their story. That\u2019s because they\u2019re not interested in talking about the fact that the Biden administration deliberately lets killers like this illegal alien into this country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the New York Post <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/02\/24\/us-news\/laken-rileys-suspected-killer-jose-ibarra-illegally-entered-us-in-2022-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, citing sources at DHS who spoke to NewsNation, the suspected killer of this college student, \u201ccrossed into El Paso, Texas, from Venezuela in September 2022 \u2026. He had been released due to a lack of detention space.\u201d This is the excuse that the feds use now when they don\u2019t want to enforce immigration law. They want us to believe that the jails are full of illegal aliens they\u2019re detaining, which is of course complete nonsense. And that wasn\u2019t the only opportunity to deport this accused killer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Again, quoting from the Post: \u201cMonths before Ibarra allegedly killed Riley, he was apparently arrested in New York for endangering a child. \u2026 Police sources in New York confirmed a man by the same name and age as the Georgia suspect was arrested in the Big Apple last year after allegedly endangering the welfare of a 5-year-old.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In other words, the murder of Laken Riley was maybe the single most preventable crime that has ever occurred in the history of the state of Georgia. All the feds had to do was enforce the law at any point in the past two years and throw this degenerate killer out of the country. But they didn\u2019t do that. Why not?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The mayor of Athens \u2014 Kelly Girtz \u2014 has offered something of an explanation. Instead of apologizing to the family of Laken Riley, or explaining why authorities didn\u2019t enforce immigration law, the mayor proceeded to deliver a lecture about Donald Trump, and the importance of treating migrant killers with the dignity they supposedly deserve. This is one of the most repulsive press conferences you\u2019ll ever see. Here\u2019s part of it:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Here is the Mayor of Athens, GA telling us we must respect the dignity of migrants, and tries to deflect to Trump and Charlottesville <\/p>\n<p>Laken Riley was just beaten to death under his sanctuary city policies <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qkD4iqTvIm\">pic.twitter.com\/qkD4iqTvIm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jack Poso \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@JackPosobiec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JackPosobiec\/status\/1762868783360729224?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 28, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is the exact kind of thinking that has festered for many years in this country. It\u2019s why women like Laken Riley are dead today. At every opportunity \u2014 even when they\u2019re confronted with murdered college students \u2014 politicians like Kelly Girtz insist that the problem isn\u2019t with policy. They claim that the real problem is rhetoric. People like Donald Trump are too mean to Mexicans, apparently. You\u2019re supposedly too xenophobic and uncultured to understand what\u2019s happening. But as the bodies pile up, that position is becoming completely untenable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jason Rantz <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jasonrantz\/status\/1765579487859912879?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> last night that an illegal immigrant who was arrested for killing a Washington State trooper (by getting intoxicated and then hitting the trooper on the side of the road) was previously arrested in a domestic violence case several years ago. Rantz reports that authorities suspected this person was in the country illegally, but they couldn\u2019t act.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s what Rantz <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mynorthwest.com\/3953842\/rantz-sanctuary-law-protected-illegal-immigrant-suspected-in-trooper-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two days after Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed Democrats\u2019 sanctuary state legislation into law, Raul Benitez Santana, who is accused of killing a Washington State Patrol trooper on a state highway last Saturday, accepted a plea agreement for a domestic violence incident years earlier. He was in this country illegally at the time. Court documents indicate officials may have, or should have, suspected his status as an illegal immigrant.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But because Washington State was a \u201csanctuary\u201d for illegal aliens, the authorities couldn\u2019t do anything with this information. They had to allow this domestic abuser to stay in this country, where ultimately he would be accused of murdering a state trooper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And by the way \u2014 even after this illegal alien killed that state trooper, the local media still ran cover for him, just as they ran cover for the suspected murderer of Laken Riley. For example, here\u2019s how the local station KOMO <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/local\/wsp-trooper-killed-in-serious-i-5-accident-all-sb-lanes-blocked-in-marysville-crash-multi-car-collision-interstate-5-southbound-saturday-washington-state-patrol-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported the story<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of the state trooper\u2019s death: \u201cTrooper killed in three-vehicle I-5 crash identified, Lynnwood man in custody.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not \u201cillegal alien.\u201d Not \u201cdomestic abuser.\u201d Instead, he\u2019s a \u201cLynwood man,\u201d just like Laken Riley\u2019s killer was an \u201cAthens resident.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The corporate press will do everything they can to run cover for killers \u2014 at least, as long as those killers are foreigners in this country illegally, and as long as they\u2019re killing white people. Their calculation is that people will shut up and take all of this, in the name of \u201ctolerance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Whatever their motivation is \u2014 whether they just want to ensure their political survival, whether they want to bring about demographic replacement, or both \u2014 it isn\u2019t really important. As a practical matter, the effects of these policies are finally proving to be far too destructive for most Americans to tolerate. As illegal aliens continue to indiscriminately murder American citizens \u2014 from college students to state troopers \u2014 more and more people are looking to Buckhead as a model.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019ll secede, necessarily.
