It would also mandate that insurance companies who cover the transgender procedures also pay for \u201cdetranisition\u201d procedures. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During her testimony, Cole detailed the life-altering side-effects she still faced after being put through transgender procedures as a child in California.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey took skin grafts from my areolas that now leak clear fluid and sometimes blood,\u201d she said. \u201cI have to wear bandages every single day to keep it from staining my shirt and bedding. Doctors look at me and they just shrug. The experiment is never ending.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cCalifornia, my home state, is not safe for me,\u201d she added. \u201cThey make it clear every time I walk into the doctor\u2019s office. All they know is gender-affirmation. Bo Mitchell who <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChoooCole\/status\/1765180162193166630\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> that children struggling with their gender needed to be put on cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers or that they would commit suicide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI felt like Rep. Mitchell (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VoteBo\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">@VoteBo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) did his best to minimize and talk down to me regarding my medical trauma. I do believe his rhetoric around suicide is dangerous and misinformed, I believe that it perpetuates suicide and leads kids that view him amicably down a dark path,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m glad we can unify around the common good and I thank him for voting for the Detrans Bill of Rights.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bill, HB 2816, was proposed by Republican State Rep. Jeremy Faison, who is the majority caucus chairman. It advanced to the House Health Committee on Tuesday and is also working its way through the Senate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m proud to carry this legislation that guarantees care to individuals suffering from mental health challenges who were groomed to undergo disfiguring surgeries or experimental interventions,\u201d he told The Daily Wire. \u201cTrue gender-affirming care is instilling self-worth in how our creator made us.
