Their goal, Galanis said, \u201cwas to make billions, not millions.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Access to Vice President Biden, according to House testimony, was one of their primary products sold to foreign businessmen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur business included the acquisition of an 85-year-old Wall Street firm, Burnham and Company, the $1.5 billion surviving division of Drexel, Burnham, Lambert, and, combining that with other businesses in insurance and wealth management we owned and acquired,\u201d Galanis explained. \u201cBurnham was the focal point for integrating a, quote, Biden family office into a large-scale financial company with international influence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, Galanis said, relied on Biden, then vice president, to grow their business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI recall being with Hunter Biden and Devon Archer at the Peninsula Bar in New York where Hunter took a call from his father,\u201d Galanis said. Hunter Biden explained the need for \u201chelp getting across the finish line\u201d on a deal related to a $300 billion Chinese financial services company \u201cclosely connected to the Chinese Communist Party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was not the only time I\u2019ve heard Hunter call his father regarding business matters,\u201d Galanis said. \u201cI was present when Hunter called his father on a cell phone and put the call on speaker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Galanis said the vice president was put on speaker in 2014 with Yelena Baturina, the widow of an ex-mayor of Moscow who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/09\/23\/hunter-biden-took-3-5-million-from-ex-moscow-mayors-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gifted<\/a> Hunter Biden $3.5 million that same year. Baturina was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/johnhyatt\/2022\/04\/07\/these-50-russian-oligarch-billionaires-havent-been-sanctioned\/?sh=416e16347d64\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">notably absent<\/a> from the Biden administration\u2019s sanctions shortly unveiled following Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI recall being stunned by this call,\u201d Galanis said. \u201cIt was clear to me that this was a prearranged call with his father meant to impress the Russian investors that Hunter had access to his father and all the power and prestige of that position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Archer, who also served with Hunter Biden on the board of Burisma, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/03\/devon-archer-burisma-hired-hunter-biden-to-develop-brand-intimidate-opponents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> lawmakers in August the Biden name was the \u201cbrand\u201d used to cultivate investors and intimidate opponents. Archer also said Hunter Biden routinely dialed in the vice president on speakerphone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think at the end of the day, part of what was delivered is the brand,\u201d Archer said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s like anything, you know, if you\u2019re Jamie Dimon\u2019s son or any CEO. You know, I think that\u2019s what we\u2019re talking about, is that there was brand being delivered along with other capabilities and reach. \u2026 I think \u2018brand\u2019 is the best way to describe it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Galanis learned a few days following the conversation with Baturina that the Russian billionaire \u201ccommitted to a, quote, hard order of [$]10 to $20 million in a Burnham investment banking client.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Galanis is currently serving a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/house-investigators-heading-prison-interview-ex-hunter-biden-biz-associate-amid-impeachment-inquiry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">14-year<\/a> prison sentence for securities fraud, which Galanis claimed also involved Archer and Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I reviewed the facts,\u201d Galanis said, \u201cI realized the prosecutors in the SDNY, Southern District of New York, had gone lightly on Devon Archer and had not indicted Hunter Biden at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe the SDNY\u2019s prosecution strategy was intended to protect Hunter Biden and, ultimately, Vice President Biden,\u201d Galanis added.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden himself testified before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees last week. Wyoming Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman, who serves on the Judiciary Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/01\/rep-harriet-hageman-hunter-biden-used-addictions-as-a-sword-and-a-shield\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Federalist the testimony made clear Hunter Biden didn\u2019t have anything to offer \u201cother than the access to his father.\u201d Galanis said the same thing in February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe entire value add of Hunter Biden to our business was his family name and his access to his father, Vice President Joe Biden,\u201d Galanis said.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>   Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness.
