Even Democratic Party public\u2064 relations firm Politico \u2062knows this is no grassroots conservative victory for the Trump-bashing\u2064 former United\u200c Nations ambassador.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNikki Haley won her first presidential primary on Sunday. \u200dShe just \u200bhad to wait for the D.C. insider crowd to vote,\u201d \u200bPolitico\u2019s Natalie Allison wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Lest Haley get too \u2062big\u2064 a head, the piece\u200c came with\u2064 the leveling sub headline, \u201cHer win comes ahead of \u200dan expected blowout by Donald Trump on Super Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the swamp was \u2063all Haley could scrabble out of \u200canother disastrous\u2064 weekend in\u200b her prolonged quest \u2062to\u200c \u2026 what? Capture the GOP presidential nomination? Jostle for a Trump cabinet post? \u200dShowcase her \u200bavailability \u2064for a top-ticket run for the Trump-hating No \u2064Labels political brand?<\/p>\n<p>She was badly beaten \u2014 again \u2014 in \u2062Missouri and Idaho, and Trump\u2063 trounced his remaining rival\u200b at Michigan\u2019s convention caucuses over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>But Haley took more than 60 percent of the\u2062 vote in Democrat-dominated D.C., where\u200c Republicans could rightly \u200bbe listed on the endangered species list. That fact didn\u2019t stop the\u200b establishment candidate from bragging about her big victory,\u2062 and attempting to fundraise off of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results \u200care in and Nikki Haley\u200b <strong>DEFEATED<\/strong> Donald\u200c Trump in the DC primary!\u201d Haley\u2019s\u200b campaign proclaimed\u200b in an email blast early Monday morning.\u200c \u201cWith\u200c just <strong><em>2 DAYS<\/em><\/strong>  until \u200dSuper Tuesday, we cannot let the momentum slip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What momentum? Haley\u2019s \u201crise\u201d is more akin \u2063to \u201cJoeMentum\u201d \u2014 as in former Democrat U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman\u2019s self-labeled (and delusional) descriptor of the\u200b bump he thought he was getting going into the 2004 New Hampshire presidential primary. Like Haley, lonesome\u200c Joe was wrong. \u2062Not even his old presidential running mate Al Gore would \u2064back his troubled run. Lieberman quickly dropped out.<\/p>\n<p>But not Nikki. Nikki\u2019s \u2064in it to win it, or so she insists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAhead of Super Tuesday <strong>TOMORROW,<\/strong> we have to keep the momentum surging, leave no stone left unturned, and keep \u200cpouring in everything we have \u2062to win this fight and save our country!\u201d Haley urged \u200cin\u200b a\u200c reality-challenged fundraising appeal.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere, Don Quixote is saying, \u201cThis chick\u2019s bat crap crazy!\u201d Unlike \u200cCervantes\u2019\u2062 Man \u200cof La Mancha, there\u2019s nothing particularly\u200c noble\u2062 about Haley or her quest.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her assertions that she is \u2064the Pepsi of the Grand Old Party, the standard-bearer choice of the new generation,\u2062 she is as Washington insider as they come. A brief perusal of her record and her backers makes that fact abundantly clear.<\/p>\n<p>For all of Haley\u2019s self-righteous attacks on Trump\u2019s moral turpitude, the long-time political climber has stumbled with\u200c the truth where it really hurts in politics. The GOP presidential candidate \u2063is\u200c now hinting that she might not endorse the\u200c eventual Republican nominee if\u200b that nominee is Trump, an about-face from her previous pledge \u2014 a pledge demanded by the\u200b Republican \u200cNational Committee.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s not obligated, she told NBC\u2019s\u200d Meet the Press, because \u2063she has \u201cserious concerns about Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haley likes to\u2063 say she\u2019s \u2063been underestimated time and again in politics. Perhaps. Not this time, though.<\/p>\n<p>She \u200dhas been obliterated in all but one nominating contest thus far, and the expectation, founded in Trump\u2019s unprecedented lead in the \u2063polls, is that she will have her establishment backside handed to her again \u2062on\u200c this \u2064Super Tuesday. Her quixotic quest for\u200b the White House will then become even \u2062sadder.<\/p>\n<p>But \u2064sad is the appropriate label for any self-described \u201ctrue conservative\u201d\u2063 who claims victory\u200d in winning the swamp.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What are some criticisms of Nikki Haley&#8217;s attempts to distance herself from Trump and appeal to the more establishment wing \u200dof\u2063 the Republican Party?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Itten off as a long shot, but managed to secure a\u2062 few victories before ultimately flopping. Haley\u2019s win in \u200cD.C. is\u2062 nothing more than a temporary blip on the radar, \u2063a momentary lapse of \u2062reason \u200bfor Republicans in the swamp.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no secret\u2062 that Haley has been positioning herself as a moderate, trying to \u200ddistance herself from Trump and appeal to the more establishment wing of the party. But her attempts to\u2064 cozy up to the Washington insiders and \u2062earn their\u2063 support have clearly backfired. The fact that she is celebrating a victory in a city that despises Republican\u2064 values speaks volumes about her true allegiances and priorities.<\/p>\n<p>While she may claim to be a conservative, Haley\u2019s actions and\u200c associations tell\u200d a different\u2063 story. Her tenure as ambassador to the United Nations \u2064was marked by a willingness to compromise, to appease those who\u200b seek to undermine American interests. She may talk tough on China and Iran, \u200dbut her track record \u200bshows a lack of conviction and a willingness \u200dto play politics at the expense of the American\u2063 people.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Haley\u2019s attempts to distance\u200d herself from Trump are misguided. Love him or hate him, \u2062there is no denying that Trump ignited a movement within the Republican Party. His America First agenda resonated with millions of Americans who felt ignored and forgotten by \u200bthe political elite. By trying to distance herself from Trump, Haley is alienating a significant portion of the Republican base.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s \u200dclear that Haley\u2019s victory in D.C. is nothing more than a fluke, a result of the unique demographics \u200bof the city rather than a reflection of her appeal to Republican \u200cvoters. As the race moves forward, it is likely that Haley will continue to be overshadowed by Trump and other more conservative candidates who have a stronger grasp of the issues and a more genuine\u2063 connection with the party faithful.<\/p>\n<p>So while Haley may try to spin her victory as a \u2064sign that she is a viable contender for the GOP nomination, the reality is that she is simply not the right fit for the party. Her moderate stances, questionable alliances, \u2063and lackluster track record make it clear that she is out of touch with the values and priorities of Republican voters.<\/p>\n<p>As the 2024 GOP\u2064 nomination contest continues, it is important for conservatives to remember what they stand for and what they want in a candidate. Haley may have won in D.C., but real \u2063conservatives recognize her victory for \u200dwhat it is \u2013 a desperate attempt to stay relevant in a race dominated by \u200dtrue Republican leaders.<\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s not be fooled by Nikki Haley\u2019s victory lap. It\u2019s time to focus on candidates who truly embody conservative principles and have a proven record of fighting for the American people.
