This incident became a major news story, fueling the media&#8217;s obsession with the dangers of &#8220;misinformation&#8221; and \u2063their plea \u200cfor intervention from Big Government, Big Tech, and Big Media to combat and suppress misinformation, especially in the age of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats condemned the robocall as a &#8220;deepfake disinformation&#8221; tactic aimed at harming Joe Biden, suppressing votes, and undermining democracy. Left-wing activist Robert Weissman called for federal regulations to police AI \u200ddisinformation, emphasizing \u200cthe urgency of the situation. Another activist highlighted the need for collective action from\u200b government, political campaigns, and private companies to address the widespread problem of AI disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>A &#8220;disinformation&#8221; \u2063scholar \u2063proposed that the responsibility of policing \u200bshould fall on the &#8220;trust \u200dand safety teams&#8221; at Big Tech companies. USA Today reported on the incident, raising\u2064 concerns about the role of AI in the 2024 election and prompting\u200b a state \u2063investigation. To address these concerns, the paper highlighted a bill proposed by Senator Ed \u2062Markey and\u2064 the\u2062 efforts of Google\u200d and Facebook&#8217;s parent companies to combat biased or misleading AI.<\/p>\n<p>NPR also \u200ccalled on Big Tech and Big Government to tackle the issue of AI disinformation. \u200cAll \u200dthese arguments suggested that rogue actors would be the culprits, while Big Tech, Big Media, and Big Government \u200cwould play the role of the good guys.<\/p>\n<p>However, subsequent\u2064 events have revealed the flawed nature of the initial media response. Contrary to the allegations made\u2063 by \u200bNew Hampshire Democrats, the robocall was not intended to harm \u2063Joe\u2062 Biden or suppress votes. It was actually \u200ca lobbying effort by a Democratic consultant who seeks more\u200d regulation against disinformation, as reported\u200b by \u2062various media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Google, one of\u2063 the entities expected to police AI misinformation, launched its AI chatbot Gemini, which quickly proved to be a \u200dsource of politically biased &#8220;misinformation.&#8221; \u2062Gemini generated fake negative reviews for a book about Google&#8217;s left-wing bias, attributing them to individuals who had never made such statements. This incident exposed Google&#8217;s AI as a\u2063 blatant purveyor of lies.<\/p>\n<p>As I previously warned before Gemini&#8217;s launch\u200d and before the identity of the robocall perpetrator was revealed, relying on electronic record keeping stored on the internet\u2064 allows those in power to rewrite history.
