Unless⁢ something‍ major happens, we’ll ⁣once again see President Joe Biden‌ facing off against former President Donald Trump this November. But don’t let the familiarity fool you, the past four years ⁣have been anything but dull.

Both Biden and Trump have their strengths,‍ especially considering the sorry state of their opponent. The latest general election polls ‍show a tight race, with some even showing‍ a tie. This doesn’t bode well for‍ either ⁣candidate, ⁤or for the⁣ country as a whole. We’re stuck ‍choosing the lesser ⁤of two‌ evils, ‌and ⁤it’s downright depressing.

Biden’s Struggles and Trump’s Controversies

With about eight months to go before the election, Biden is already facing challenges. His approval rating is at a historically low ‍38%, just shy of his all-time low. Voters are troubled by his advanced age and⁢ lack of faith in his governance. The border ⁤crisis, rising ⁢costs, and international tensions only add to the concerns. And let’s not forget about Kamala Harris, his vice president, who seems incapable of handling the border crisis and is just a heartbeat⁤ away from the presidency.

In an ideal world,⁢ these⁤ struggles would give the Republican challenger a good⁢ chance at unseating the incumbent. But in reality, the challenger is Trump. Despite his claims of⁢ victory, Trump lost to Biden in 2020. And ⁣his refusal ⁢to accept‍ the results and the embarrassment of January 6, 2021, only further highlight his ⁣unfitness for⁢ office. While he remains popular in the party, there are other politicians⁤ who would be better suited for the ‌job.

A Missed Opportunity‍ for Republicans

Both ⁤Biden and Trump face an uphill battle in securing victory on election night. But luckily for them, they’re up against a truly dreadful candidate who⁣ isn’t even the best option in their own party. If Biden were younger and⁢ more successful, he wouldn’t be tied with his ambitious predecessor. And ⁣if Trump‍ focused on his past ‌policy wins and future goals instead of ‍his claims of a stolen election, he wouldn’t ⁢be ⁢tied with ⁣an ailing progressive.

From a Republican‌ perspective, the 2024 election cycle is‍ a missed opportunity.⁤ There are ⁢far better politicians with experience who could have been chosen. Going with Trump again may cost the election and damage conservatism in the long run. And if he does manage to win, it sends a dangerous message that his lies and abhorrent behavior are acceptable and forgiven.

Ultimately, the ⁣2024 election is⁣ just a recycled version of 2020. Biden and Trump may be evenly matched for now, but neither will admit it. ‌Regardless of which terrible candidate wins, it will ⁢be business as usual, unfortunately.

Click here to read more from the Washington Examiner.

Kimberly Ross (@SouthernKeeks)⁢ is a contributor to the Washington Examiner’s Beltway Confidential blog⁣ and a columnist at Arc Digital.

What role did the pandemic play in shaping‌ the approaches of ⁣both Biden and Trump during their respective administrations?

Not forget the ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings, which could cast a ⁣shadow on the Biden administration.

On the other hand, Trump continues to be‌ a polarizing figure. While he maintains a strong‌ base of supporters, his controversial statements and divisive policies‍ have alienated many. The impeachment trial and the Capitol insurrection further ⁢tarnished his reputation. However, Trump’s charisma and ability‍ to resonate with a large portion of the population cannot be ignored.

The Impact of the Pandemic

One major factor that‌ distinguishes the 2024 election from‍ its predecessor is ‍the ongoing global pandemic. COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on the economy, healthcare systems, and people’s ⁣lives. Both Biden⁢ and Trump had ⁢to navigate through this crisis,‌ albeit with different approaches.

Biden’s administration has focused on vaccinations and implementing stricter public health measures. They aim to ‌restore ⁢trust in science⁢ and rebuild international relationships. However, the economic recovery is still uncertain, and the effects of the pandemic may linger for years to come.

Trump, on⁢ the other⁢ hand, took a more optimistic approach, emphasizing reopening the economy and reducing government regulations. While his strategies appealed to ⁣some who were⁤ eager to get back to normalcy, others criticized his handling of ‍the pandemic as reckless and lacking ⁤in empathy.

Issues of Importance

The 2024 election will also bring⁣ to‌ the forefront pressing issues such as climate change, racial inequality, ⁣healthcare, and immigration. These are not new issues, but‍ the solutions and policies proposed by the candidates⁣ may differ.

Biden has⁣ promised a more progressive agenda, with a focus on clean energy, racial justice, expanding‌ access⁢ to healthcare, and immigration reforms. Trump, on the other hand, was known for his‍ America-first policies, emphasizing ⁣border security and deregulation.

The Role of Third Parties

While the focus remains on Biden and Trump, the influence of third-party candidates cannot be‍ overlooked. In the previous election, Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen and Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins had a small but noticeable impact on the outcome. In 2024, it is yet to be seen whether these parties or new⁤ ones will emerge as significant players.

Conclusion

The 2024⁤ election may seem like a repeat of the last one with Biden and ⁤Trump back on the stage. ⁣However, the current political climate, the ‌impact of the pandemic, and the pressing issues at⁤ hand make it a unique and ‍important event.⁢ The outcome will shape the future of the country and have implications for years to come.

As voters, it is crucial ‌to look beyond the familiar faces and evaluate the candidates’ abilities, policies, and visions for the country. While it may be tempting to succumb to cynicism and think nothing will change, it is our responsibility to engage in the democratic process and make an informed decision. Only then ⁣can we truly hope for a better future.

But routine. The 2024 election is touted as crucial, yet it mirrors the previous one.
