The polls had Trump narrowly ahead\u2062 of President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.morningconsult.com\/trackers\/2024-presidential-election-polling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nationwide<\/a>, with Trump&#8217;s margins in swing states ranging \u2062from plus 2\u2064 points in\u2062 Michigan\u2063 to plus 9 points in North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>This is now routine. According\u200c to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Trump \u200chas held a national lead over Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">since last September<\/a>. \u2062At this writing, he leads in every swing state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/pennsylvania\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">except\u200b Pennsylvania<\/a>\u2014where he \u200dis \u2063a single point behind the incumbent. Yes,\u2062 the\u200d polls in GOP primary\u2063 contests \u2063have slightly overestimated Trump&#8217;s support. \u2064But Trump \u2062still won\u200d those contests. \u200bAnd his edge in battleground states such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/arizona\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arizona<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/georgia\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Georgia<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/nevada\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nevada<\/a> \u2062 is not slight.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c two impeachments, the 91 counts across 4 indictments, the huge civil penalties, the almost-a-decade-long trail\u200d of controversy and scandal,\u2063 the warnings from former senior officials, the shadow of January 6, 2021\u2014none of it has \u200dsidelined Trump. None of it has changed the dynamic of the 2024 presidential race. \u200dBiden\u2062 is losing.<\/p>\n<h3>Here&#8217;s how you can tell.<\/h3>\n<p>As the \u2063president&#8217;s campaign says it isn&#8217;t worried about the \u200dpolls, Biden is traveling across the \u2064country \u200cplaying catch-up to Trump. While\u200d Biden&#8217;s \u200bwords, when \u2064decipherable, suggest confidence, \u200bhis actions betray weakness. He&#8217;s\u2063 trying to recover \u200blost ground by\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/meet-the-defund-the-police-advocate-chicago-just-elected-to-deal-with-its-crime-spike\/\" title=\"Meet the 'Defund the Police' Advocate Chicago Just Elected To Deal With Its Crime Spike\">addressing past mistakes<\/a>. He\u2062 won&#8217;t admit\u2063 to \u200cerror, but he is\u2063 trying to fix his mess. Biden&#8217;s former \u200cboss, Barack Obama, famously went on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2016\/05\/barack-obama-apology-tour-foreign-policy-realism-idealism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apology\u200d tour<\/a>. Biden&#8217;s on a regrets tour.<\/p>\n<p>It opened on February\u200c 16 with his <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-east-palestine-train-derailment-fire-fef900778896348aa3b89d7bbc401401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jaunt<\/a> to East Palestine, Ohio. Biden&#8217;s yearlong refusal to visit the site of the Norfolk Southern train wreck was a reminder of general aloofness and \u2063weakness with working-class voters. Biden handed\u200d his opponents an easy \u200dand effective talking point. He obviously came to regret his \u2063decision\u2014else he wouldn&#8217;t have ever made the trip to\u200d a county\u2062 where Trump won <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-east-palestine-train-derailment-fire-fef900778896348aa3b89d7bbc401401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than \u200b70 percent of the vote<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The next steps on the tour were \u200bmeant to address public concern over Biden&#8217;s age. On February 26, Biden taped an\u200d appearance on <em>Late Night with Seth \u200bMeyers<\/em>. He grinned and gabbed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nancy-pelosi-says-she-eats-ice-cream-for-breakfast\/\" title=\"Nancy Pelosi Says She Eats Ice Cream For Breakfast\">ate ice cream<\/a>, donned aviator glasses, \u200cand told viewers that Trump is also old and forgetful. His choice of a safe venue made for forgettable\u200b television. Biden won&#8217;t live down his error in passing\u2062 up a pre-Super \u2062Bowl interview on CBS. \u200cAbout \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/02\/13\/1231058556\/most-watched-super-bowl-2024#:~:text=Hourly%20News-,The%202024%20Super%20Bowl%20becomes%20the%20most%20watched%20NFL%20championship,game%20that%20went%20to%20overtime.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one-third of the United States of \u2062America<\/a> tuned \u2062into Super Bowl LVIII, the highest-rated NFL championship game in \u2062history. \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/ustvdb.com\/networks\/nbc\/shows\/late-night-seth-meyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fewer than 700,000 people<\/a> watch\u200d Meyers&#8217;s program on a given night.<\/p>\n<p>On February 28, Biden\u2062 made a\u2063 surprise visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center\u2064 for his annual physical. The president&#8217;s doctor says Biden is &#8220;an \u200bactive 81-year-old white male&#8221; who is &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Health-Summary-2.28.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fit for duty<\/a>.&#8221; His\u2064 stiff gait is a consequence of &#8220;significant spinal arthritis, post-fracture\u2062 foot arthritis and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-fit-to-successfully-execute-the-duties-of-the-presidency-physician-declares\/\" title=\"Biden \u2018Fit To Successfully Execute The Duties Of The Presidency,\u2019 Physician Declares\">sensory peripheral neuropathy<\/a> of the feet.&#8221; Interesting. Also noteworthy: Biden was not given a cognitive test. Asked about this omission, White House press \u200bsecretary Karine Jean-Pierre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2024\/02\/28\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-52\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>, \u200b&#8221;He passes\u2064 a cognitive test every \u2062day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She must be \u2063grading on a curve.<\/p>\n<p>On February 29, Biden returned to the site of another regret: the \u2064southern\u2064 border. Biden unleashed \u2063a crisis by reversing \u200dTrump policies \u2064on his first day in office. Millions of people have\u2062 entered America through the southern border and \u200dhave been allowed to stay. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornyn.senate.gov\/biden-border-crisis\/#:~:text=Since%20President%20Biden%20took%20office,but%20who%20were%20never%20apprehended.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Millions\u200d more<\/a> \u2062 have entered \u2062unnoticed. The political cost is enormous. Voters consider \u200cimmigration\u200c the \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/611135\/immigration-surges-top-important-problem-list.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most important\u200b problem\u2063 facing the \u2062country<\/a>. Just <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/610988\/biden-job-approval-edges-down.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">28 percent of voters<\/a> \u200dapprove of the way that Biden has handled it.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cmigrant crisis has spilled over into blue cities short of housing. Poisonous narcotics trafficked across the \u200dborder have affected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/news\/press\/2024\/02\/21.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">close to half of the population<\/a>. Terrible crimes\u2064 such as the murder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/uga-nursing-student-death.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laken \u2064Riley<\/a> intensify voter outrage at the White House&#8217;s failure. And the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-pulls-65-pending-trump-executive-orders\/\" title=\"Biden Pulls 65 Pending Trump Executive Orders\">national security implications<\/a> of an overwhelmed immigration \u2062system are <a href=\"https:\/\/homeland.house.gov\/2023\/11\/15\/fbi-director-wray-confirms-the-border-crisis-poses-major-homeland-security-threat-dhs-secretary-mayorkas-stonewalls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden could have addressed all this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aei.org\/op-eds\/where-are-bidens-pen-and-phone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">years ago<\/a> by reinstating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/what-is-trump-era-remain-mexico-program-supreme-court-said-biden-can-end-2022-06-30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Remain in Mexico<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fclawlib.libguides.com\/immigrationlaw\/safethirdcountry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">safe-third-country agreements<\/a>, and \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/nation\/what-is-title-42-and-what-does-it-mean-for-immigration-at-the-southern-border\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Title 42<\/a>. He hasn&#8217;t. Instead, he \u200ddelivered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2024\/02\/28\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-his-actions-to-fight-crime-and-make-our-communities-safer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remarks<\/a> \u200con law and enforcement and crime from the White House a day before traveling to Brownsville, Texas. Photo ops won&#8217;t improve the situation. Only \u2063policies\u200b will.<\/p>\n<p>Even\u2064 if Biden were \u200dto do the\u2064 right thing, voters are <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/columns\/bidens-terrible-student-loan-gamble\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unlikely to repay\u2063 him with support<\/a>. The <em>Bloomberg<\/em> poll this week \u2062revealed an electorate sour on both major party candidates. \u2062The majority said Biden is old and\u200c Trump is dangerous.\u200d Voters rate\u2064 Biden and Trump equally poorly on attributes such \u200das honesty \u200cand empathy. A lot of voters are \u2062undecided or looking for \u2062an alternative.\u200b Many people have given up on Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The president spent most of his\u200c life in a media environment where highly massaged official statements and coordinated public \u200bevents shaped coverage and hence\u200d campaigns. That\u2064 is not the world we live\u200b in. Voters form\u2063 impressions of leaders through\u2064 a kaleidoscope of memes, reels, clips, DMs, and posts. They distrust the press and \u200bhave\u2064 little \u200caffection for politicians. Biden&#8217;s travels and comments will be short-lived and little remembered.<\/p>\n<p>Biden can&#8217;t\u200d persuade voters that he is fit for office. But he and his allies can spend hundreds of millions of dollars telling voters that Trump is too \u2062extreme to be president again. This unpredictable\u200d election rides on whether Democrats \u2064succeed in convincing Americans that\u2064 Trump is a risk they cannot \u2063afford.<\/p>\n<p>As\u2064 of now, the Democrats\u2064 have failed\u200c at their task. The\u200b polls show it. And Biden knows it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How \u2062effective have these removal policies\u200c been in deterring illegal immigration?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Se\/politics\/what-are-the-removal-policies-the-u-s-is-using-to-deport-migrants-on-its-southern-border#:~:text=There%20are%20several%20key%20removal,and%20permanent%20residency%20from%20noncitizens.&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; rel=&#8221;noopener&#8221;>removal policies<\/a> that\u2063 deter illegal immigration.\u2063 But \u2062he didn&#8217;t. \u2064And \u200dnow he is\u2064 struggling to clean up the mess he\u200b created.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Trump has \u2064been playing \u200bthe smart game. He has maintained a\u200b strong presence in Republican politics, \u2062endorsing candidates and\u2063 holding rallies. He \u2064has been effective at \u2063shaping the narrative and keeping himself in the public eye. And it&#8217;s paying off.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Trump is leading in the polls is a\u2064 testament \u2062to the power of his brand and\u2064 the loyalty of his base. After everything he has been through, all the controversies\u2062 and scandals, he still \u200bcommands a significant following. And while \u2063the\u2063 media and elites may try \u2063to dismiss him, \u200dthe American people clearly haven&#8217;t forgotten about\u200b him.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, on the other\u2064 hand, is struggling to inspire confidence. His actions and decisions have been questionable at best, and the\u2064 public\u2063 is starting to take notice. From his \u2062mishandling of\u200c the border crisis to his refusal to address\u2064 concerns about his age and \u200dcognitive abilities, Biden\u2062 has shown a lack of leadership and competence.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 presidential race\u200b is still far off, and\u200b a lot can\u200d change between now and\u200b then. But if the current trend\u200c continues, Trump could very well be on\u200b his way to another\u2064 victory.
