A bill that would allow any non-felon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/louisiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Louisiana<\/a> resident \u2062to concealed carry a gun without a permit has passed both\u200d the state House and\u200d Senate. Governor Jeff Landry (R-LA) is\u200d expected to\u2063 sign it into law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Republican-backed proposal, known as\u200b SB 1,\u2063 received overwhelming \u200csupport in the House \u2064with a 75-28 vote and in the\u2062 Senate with \u200ca 28-10 vote. If signed, Louisiana will become the 28th state to enact a constitutional carry-style law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Louisiana bill, which can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/legis.la.gov\/legis\/ViewDocument.aspx?d=1348797\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a>, states that &#8220;law-abiding persons eighteen years of age and not otherwise prohibited may carry a concealed weapon lawfully without\u2062 a permit.&#8221; This removes the previous requirements for concealed carry in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Supporters\u200d of the bill, \u200blike Louisiana state Rep. Mike Johnson, argue \u2063that it will empower citizens to protect themselves in \u2064the face of rising crime rates.\u200b &#8220;People are \u2064getting raped, murdered, carjacked, and assaulted,&#8221; said Johnson. &#8220;A vote for this bill today \u200cgives the citizens of Louisiana the right to\u2064 defend themselves.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The legislation\u200b was sponsored by Republican state \u200cSen.
