Police suspect it was a\u2063 \u201ccrime of opportunity\u201d \u200das the \u200btwo did not appear\u200c to\u200d know each other. Ibarra \u2063now faces charges for murder, assault, and more in connection to the killing. He has\u2063 been denied bond.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan and McClintock referred to a\u2064 statement from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that said Ibarra\u200c was\u200b arrested by Customs and \u2064Border Protection (CBP) in September 2022\u2064 after an illegal crossing near El\u2062 Paso, Texas, and was paroled and released \u201cfor further processing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ICE said Ibarra\u200c was then arrested by \u2063New York City Police Department \u200d(NYPD) officers in September \u20632023 \u200band charged with acting in a manner to injure \u2063a child less than \u200c17 and a motor vehicle license violation. ICE said Ibarra \u2062was released by\u2064 the NYPD before a detainer could be issued.<\/p>\n<p>The statement from ICE concluded by \u200csaying \u2062its field office\u2063 in Atlanta \u2062\u201cencountered Ibarra pursuant\u2064 to his arrest\u201d by the University of Georgia Police Department and \u2062being \u200bcharged with murder and other crimes. It added \u200bthat the Atlanta field office lodged\u2064 a detainer.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan \u2063and McClintock said \u2063they want case \u2063history information on\u2062 Ibarra, details on all of Ibarra\u2019s entries into the United States, information about Ibarra\u2019s processing by CBP officials, and whether ICE\u2062 lodged\u2063 an\u200d immigration detainer against\u200b him. An\u2063 illegal immigrant \u2063from El Salvador, Cristian Alvarado, was arrested and charged with her murder. Alvarado had previously\u2063 been apprehended by\u200d Border Patrol agents \u200din Texas in May 2020 but was released\u200b into the United States pending\u2062 his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/25-asylum-seekers-granted-u-s-entry-under-biden\/\" title=\"25 asylum seekers granted U.S. entry under Biden\">immigration court hearing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican lawmakers outlined several questions\u2063 they want answered by Mayorkas, including \u200chow many criminal illegal immigrants have been released\u200c into the country since President\u200c Biden took\u200c office, and how many had previously been in \u200dthe custody \u200bof \u200cimmigration\u2063 enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is imperative that we understand why Mr. Alvarado was not detained\u2062 and promptly removed from the United States\u200d after his initial apprehension, and why he was released to commit further crimes \u2064against \u2063three innocent victims,\u201d the letter states.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers also requested \u200dinformation on the policies and\u200d procedures \u2064followed by immigration \u2064agencies, and how these have \u200cchanged under the Biden Administration.
