Gottesman, 93, made \u200bher historic donation\u2063 to\u200c the\u200c Montefiore Health System medical school on Monday morning,\u200c students applauded,\u2062 hugged, and\u2064 cheered.<\/p>\n<p>Gottesman is the widow of David Gottesman, a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of Warren Buffett. When\u2063 David passed away back in 2022, he left his wife his portfolio of Berkshire Hathaway stocks.<\/p>\n<p>Her\u2062 late husband\u2019s \u201cwords of \u2062wisdom\u201d stuck in her memory. \u2062He had told her to \u201cdo whatever you think is \u200cright with\u2064 it.\u201d Gottesman claimed in a <em>New York Times<\/em> interview that\u200b she knew right away what she intended to \u200cdo with the \u200bfunds.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cI wanted to fund students at Einstein so that \u2064they \u2063would receive free tuition,\u201d she asserted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She \u2062used to be a professor at Einstein, in \u200bwhich she\u2063 \u201cstudied learning disabilities, developed a screening test and ran literacy programs,\u201d according to the\u2062 <em>Times<\/em>. She did not \u200cwant the school to\u200c change its name, so that \u2063was reportedly the sole reason she initially wanted to make\u2062 her donation anonymous.<\/p>\n<p>With the gift from the former Bronx medical school \u200dprofessor, tuition will now be free [allegedly] for \u2062any student\u2064 attending the\u2062 school now or\u2063 in the \u200bnear future.
