The move comes after a special counsel report raised doubts about Biden&#8217;s\u200b cognitive abilities, particularly his memory.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The report highlighted numerous instances that have\u200b been\u200b publicly\u2062 witnessed, revealing President\u2064 Biden&#8217;s apparent cognitive decline and lack\u200b of\u200b mental \u200bstamina,&#8221; Buck explained in an interview with \u2064Fox News. \u2063&#8221;Given the multitude of societal\u200d challenges and security threats our country faces, \u200dwe need a chief executive with \u2064strong mental and physical \u200cfaculties. It&#8217;s time for the vice president and the Cabinet to prioritize our nation and proceed with invoking the 25th Amendment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The resolution \u200bfollows the release of special counsel \u200dRobert Hur&#8217;s long-awaited findings on whether Biden \u2063mishandled\u2063 classified documents after leaving the White House in\u200c 2017. While no criminal\u2062 charges\u2062 were\u2062 filed, the special counsel acknowledged that \u200cBiden&#8217;s portrayal of himself as &#8220;a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man \u2062with a \u200bpoor memory&#8221; played a role in the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Buck also \u200cpointed out several recent\u200c instances in which Biden made verbal gaffes and confused the names of current world\u200b leaders with those who passed away\u2063 decades ago. One such mistake occurred during a press \u200cconference where\u2063 Biden attempted to refute the special counsel report&#8217;s challenge to his memory.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the war in Gaza, Biden mistakenly stated, &#8220;Initially, the president of Mexico, el Sisi, did not want\u2064 to open up the gate \u2064to humanitarian material to get in. I talked to\u200b him. I convinced him to open the gate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted \u2063that Abdel Fattah el Sisi \u2063is\u200b the \u200dpresident \u200bof Egypt, not Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Section 4 of the 25th \u200cAmendment has never been used to \u200dremove a sitting president from office. This provision allows executive officials to declare the president unfit to fulfill their duties.\u2062 To be successful, the vice president must also support the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>If \u2064Biden is\u2063 challenged, he can defend\u200b his fitness to serve\u200b by writing to Congress. Cabinet members advocating\u2063 for \u2064his removal would then have\u2064 four days \u200cto \u2064dispute his claim, after which Congress would\u2063 vote \u2064on whether to remove him.<\/p>\n<p>Buck&#8217;s decision to \u2062pursue this proposal is significant, as the \u2062retiring Colorado Republican has\u2063 previously expressed reservations about other attempts to impeach Biden and remove him from the White House.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">Click here<\/a> \u2063to read more from The Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n<p>A few other Republicans, including Senators Rick\u200b Scott (R-FL) \u2062and Mike Lee (R-UT), as well as Representatives Mary Miller (R-IL) and Mike Collins (R-GA), have also called for Biden&#8217;s removal through the 25th Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c Washington Examiner reached\u2063 out to the White House for comment but did not receive a response.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Why do\u200b House Republicans\u200d argue that invoking the \u200d25th Amendment is necessary for Biden?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ounsel&#8217;s report did raise\u2063 concerns about Biden&#8217;s cognitive\u200b abilities. The report detailed instances where Biden appeared forgetful or confused during interviews and public appearances.<\/p>\n<p>House \u2062Republicans argue that these findings are evidence of Biden&#8217;s mental decline\u200d and believe invoking the 25th Amendment \u2064is necessary\u200c to ensure the proper functioning of the government. \u2062The \u200b25th\u200d Amendment allows for the\u2062 removal of a president who \u2063is unable to \u200bfulfill \u200ctheir duties due \u2063to a physical or mental incapacity.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Representative Buck&#8217;s resolution, other \u2062House Republicans have also\u2064 voiced their\u200b support\u2063 for President Biden&#8217;s\u2063 removal. They argue\u2063 that the challenges facing \u2064the nation, such as\u200d the ongoing\u200d pandemic\u2063 and national security threats, require a leader who is mentally sharp and capable.<\/p>\n<p>Critics \u2063of the move argue that invoking the 25th Amendment should only \u200cbe done \u2064in extreme\u2062 cases where a \u200dpresident is clearly incapacitated. They argue that \u2062concerns about Biden&#8217;s mental acuity should be \u200baddressed through other \u2062means, such as increased transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n<p>To invoke\u200c the 25th Amendment, a\u200d majority of\u2064 the Cabinet would need to\u200c agree\u200d that the president is unfit for office. This would then trigger a process where\u2062 the vice president would \u200dassume the presidency temporarily. Ultimately, the decision would be made by Congress, requiring a two-thirds \u200cmajority vote in\u200b both the House and the\u2064 Senate.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be \u2064seen if Representative Buck&#8217;s resolution will gain the necessary support\u200d to move forward. House Democrats, who hold the majority, are unlikely to support the measure, making its passage unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>The debate\u2063 over President Biden&#8217;s mental acuity is not \u200da new one.
