It&#8217;s important to note that\u200b only four \u2064states have voted so far, \u200cand only a fraction\u200b of the delegates required for the nomination have been awarded.<\/p>\n<h3>Providing a Real \u200cChoice<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;In the next ten days, another 21\u200d states and territories will have their say,&#8221; \u2063Haley continued. &#8220;They deserve a genuine choice, not a Soviet-style election with only one candidate. And it is my duty to offer them that choice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ten days may seem short in the grand scheme \u2064of this \u200dlong election year, but Haley has the financial resources to continue her campaign. The Republican party is\u200c not completely unified, \u2063and Trump&#8217;s divisive nature does\u200c not help in bringing everyone together. His legal troubles and personal vendettas distract from \u200dhis campaign message, \u200cparticularly for swing voters who are less convinced that he is being persecuted\u2063 compared to most Republicans. Trump&#8217;s presence makes it challenging to\u2062 frame the \u200celection as a referendum on President\u2063 Joe Biden, rather\u200d than a \u200bchoice\u2062 between \u2063two widely unpopular \u2064candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans would have an advantage\u2064 in the former scenario, but the latter is more uncertain, as \u2062current polls indicate. This assumes that Trump does not face any convictions by Election Day.<\/p>\n<h3>Important Considerations<\/h3>\n<p>However, \u2063there\u2063 are important factors to consider. South Carolina exit polls revealed that Trump won 72% of\u2063 self-identified\u200c Republicans, who constituted \u200dtwo-thirds of the primary electorate, while Haley received 28%. He also secured 74% of white evangelicals and 85% of very conservative voters.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to the situation in New\u200b Hampshire, \u2063Haley needed significant crossover \u200bvotes to reach the \u200d40% threshold.
