Joe Biden didn\u2019t do anything for Taylor, and \u200cnever will. There\u2019s no way \u200cshe could endorse \u2063Crooked Joe \u2063Biden, the \u2062worst and most corrupt President\u200b in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to \u200bthe man who made her so much money. Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he\u200c may\u2064 be a\u2062 Liberal, \u200cand probably \u200dcan\u2019t stand me!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The 2018 Music Modernization \u2064Act updated decades-old legislation from 1976 and 1998, meaning\u2063 it was a massive advance for creatives in the \u2062digital\u200b age. Guidelines and statutes protecting artists and providing them with fair income \u200cand representation in the world \u200bof streaming music were largely absent from anything \u2064prior. This act created a licensing collective, protected pre-1972\u200c recordings, and allowed transparency in royalties and fair compensation \u2063for songwriters, \u200dessentially inflating the take-home for artists and writers. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1573939737\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0d5d2d812655714cad1aeed5598e5ca8 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0d5d2d812655714cad1aeed5598e5ca8\"><\/div>\n<p>The corporate media\u2062 acted as if Trump\u2019s claim\u2064 were ridiculous. Left-wing articles were quick to \u2063discredit his claim and take the former president out of the equation entirely, with one Variety \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/music\/news\/trump-did-nothing-on-music-modernization-taylor-swift-1235907368\/\">piece<\/a> \u200cquoting an attorney \u200dwho said, \u201cSomeone\u2062 should ask him what the \u2064bill actually accomplished,\u201d as if Trump was not aware of what\u200d he had signed into law.<\/p>\n<p>Others in the industry took a much different view of the process. Rock and\u2064 Roll Hall of Fame member\u200c Sam \u2064Moore\u200d said \u200cduring\u200c the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?452878-1\/music-modernization-act-signing-ceremony\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signing<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m so proud. When Mr. Bush was in, we couldn\u2019t get it done. When we had Mr. Obama in,\u200d we couldn\u2019t\u2063 get it done. But we got it done\u200b with this man.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>David Israelite, president of the National Music Publishers\u2019 Association, <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/music-publishers-write-open-letter-to-president-elect-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> \u2062in\u2062 an open letter to Trump when he was still president-elect in 2016: \u201cAs you have said many times, Washington needs to change, and one of the changes we hope comes \u2062from \u2063your Presidency is fairness for one of America\u2019s most important small businesses: \u200bsongwriters.\u201d\u200b <\/p>\n<p>Later\u200b in the letter, Israelite directly noted that tech companies had a firm grip\u200d on the Obama administration. \u201cGoogle,\u200d which owns the largest music streaming company in the world \u2014 YouTube \u2014 enjoyed a <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/277251-report-highlights-hundreds-of-meetings-between-white-house-and-google\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">well-documented<\/a>, close relationship with the White House, \u2064in particular,\u201d which led to hostility towards artists. We know this\u200d relationship with Democrats existed because \u2063Google continued its unlawful\u200c surveillance \u200dof Republicans, as confirmed in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/11\/10\/news\/gop-senators-sound-alarm-on-dojs-surveillance-of-staff-probing-russiagate-true-attack-on-our-democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a> over the\u200d last year. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a4b60823b21feb557e729e98f6ff2722 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a4b60823b21feb557e729e98f6ff2722\"><\/div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s\u2064 advocacy for small businesses and fair compensation aligns with his broader political agenda, \u2063despite criticism\u2062 from some sectors of \u200dmedia\u200c and entertainment. One of the most prominent opponents of the Music Modernization Act was Blackstone. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennessean.com\/story\/money\/2018\/07\/23\/nashville-group-says-sesac-proposal-endangers-music-modernization-act\/819721002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Blackstone-owned SESAC<\/a> posed an 11th-hour threat to the future of the bill, which\u2063 was lobbied for by countless creatives and legislators who eventually got the bill through. \u2063If big business is on \u2062one side, Trump and this legislation \u200bare\u200b firmly on the other. <\/p>\n<p>Considering this was a multi-administration hurdle, it\u2019s apparent that\u200d big \u2063government, big \u200cbusiness, and Big Tech played a role. This act \u200bhas meant that large-scale companies and streaming providers have had to adjust their entire pay scales to allow for songwriters to be compensated \u2064fairly for\u2064 their work\u200c \u2014 songwriters much like Taylor\u2064 Swift. <\/p>\n<p>Swift \u200bendorsed Biden in \u200d2020, but people fail to understand that the prospect of another Biden endorsement\u200b is more than that; it\u200c is big business and big tech lobbying a person\u2062 \u2014 a parallel of what we see\u2063 in the media, judicial system,\u2063 and attacks\u2062 on the former president. It\u2019s not Trump launching a \u201cpetty\u201d attack on Taylor Swift. Rather, it is the corporate media twisting\u200d his\u2064 very reasonable statement to make it seem that way.\u2064 <\/p>\n<p>The incredibly hard work of an\u2062 endless list of\u2062 people is\u2063 what accomplished the\u200b climb of this extraordinary summit\u2063 \u2014\u2062 but we tried in past administrations. \u200bThe entertainment \u2063industry may not like \u200cTrump any extra for \u200bthis bill passing, but it certainly revolutionized an antiquated statute,\u200d preserved the rights of \u200cpre-1972 classics, and put more money \u200bin the pockets of \u200ccreators both large and small. The list of music leaders on both sides of\u2063 the aisle who have expressed credit and gratitude toward Trump is extensive: \u2064SESAC CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sesac.com\/music-modernization-act-becomes-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John Josephson<\/a>, Sound Exchange President <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/music\/post\/what-the-music-modernization-act-means-to-you\">Michael Huppe<\/a>, A2IM\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/president-trump-signs-music-modernization-act-law-1151534\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Richard Burgess<\/a>, then-Recording\u200d Academy \u2062President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recordingacademy.com\/advocacy\/news\/music-modernization-act-signed-law-president-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Neil Portnow<\/a>, and more. \u2063 <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3cb151fd29e5eb03b450b8c386495719 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3cb151fd29e5eb03b450b8c386495719\"><\/div>\n<p>As a country artist and songwriter myself, I value\u2064 President \u200dTrump\u2019s\u200d appreciation for creatives, and as a political commentator and advocate\u200b for truth,\u200d I \u200bcannot continue to watch the media construct this trivial narrative\u2064 against him. <\/p>\n<p>The left likes to pretend the right always \u2063loses the culture\u2064 war, but \u200dDonald\u2064 Trump sits firmly at the intersection of politics and culture, with a hit TV show, a \u200bclear understanding \u2062of how to \u2064operate within the media, and, as\u2062 of this past week, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/02\/18\/trump-sneakers-never-surrender-launch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sold-out<\/a> sneaker collection.
