A left-wing dark money group posing as a Midwestern newspaper has twisted the words of \u2063a Wisconsin Senate candidate to paint him as\u2064 an uncaring and out-of-touch elitist.<\/p>\n

Eric Hovde launched<\/a> his campaign to unseat Democrat incumbent Sen. Tammy Baldwin on Tuesday. Heartland Signal, a political newspaper based in Chicago, published\u200b a 44-second excerpt from Hovde’s speech where he discussed \u2063the crisis \u200cat\u200b the U.S. southern border.<\/p>\n

“It’s not just a humanitarian crisis\u200b for\u2064 our country,” Hovde said. \u200d”But\u200c do you know\u2062 how \u200dmany \u2063lives\u2063 are \u200blost on that journey to get here? \u2064How many people’s life \u200dsavings have been \u2064wiped out by \u200cthe human trafficking cartels? And they’ve lost 100,000 children that\u200b they can’t account for.”<\/p>\n

“Let me assure you,” Hovde added, “more than\u200d a few of\u200c them have ended up\u2064 being sexually trafficked. I know this all too well. My brother and I have homes all over the world, \u200band we have three in Central America\u2063 that deal with issues like \u2063this.”<\/p>\n

Heartland Signal,\u2062 a leftist digital website backed <\/a>by Democrat donors, posted the clip on X with\u200d the caption, “Hovde\u2063 says\u200b he \u2063understands the tragedy of children\u2063 being trafficked through Central America because he owns three homes there.”<\/p>\n
