The grade, age, sex, and ethnicity of the \u200dother affected students have not \u200cbeen disclosed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe \u200chealth, safety\u200c and welfare of our students and staff remain\u200d our utmost priority,\u201d\u2064 the Broward County Public School District said in a\u200b statement to a <em>NewsNation<\/em> affiliate. \u201cThe \u2064district \u200bcontinues to\u200c work \u200bclosely with the\u200d Florida Department \u200cof Health-Broward following \u2062three additional confirmed \u200dmeasles cases\u200d at Manatee\u2062 Bay Elementary School. The school\u2019s\u2062 principal is keeping\u2064 families informed and \u2062following health department guidelines to safeguard our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe District is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/russia-coup-us-vows-to-stay-in-close-coordination-with-allies-as-russian-military-rebellion-continues\/\" title=\"US pledges to maintain close alliance coordination amid ongoing Russian military rebellion.\">maintaining close coordination<\/a> with the\u2063 Health Department to address this \u2062ongoing situation,\u201d John\u200c Sullivan, chief communications and legislative affairs\u200d officer for Broward County \u200cPublic Schools, \u200dsaid in a\u2063 statement.\u2062 \u201cOver the\u2064 weekend, the District took further preventive measures by\u200c conducting a deep cleaning of the \u2062school premises and replacing its air filters.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition, Sullivan stated that the school\u2019s principal is actively communicating with families to provide them with the latest information.<\/p>\n<p>Measles is a highly contagious\u2064 virus that can\u200b cause symptoms such as \u200chigh fever, cough, runny nose, and watery eyes, appearing seven to fourteen\u200c days after contracting the virus. \u2062A rash typically follows the onset of symptoms, appearing three to five days later. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/about\/parents-top4.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to the Centers for Disease\u200c Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/a>, the rash often starts as\u2064 flat red \u200dspots\u2064 and spreads to the neck, trunk, \u2062arms, legs, and feet.\u2064 <\/p>\n<p>In 2000, measles \u2063was \u200ddeclared eradicated in\u2064 the United States, meaning it was no longer \u2062present in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Some pro-vaccine \u2063social media users are expressing outrage and blaming parents who \u200dhave chosen not to vaccinate their\u200d children.\u200d Others are attributing the recent influx of foreigners seeking\u2062 asylum as a potential\u2064 cause, suggesting that they may\u2064 have \u200breintroduced \u200dthe airborne viral infection into \u200dthe general population. <\/p>\n<p>It is\u200b currently unknown\u2062 whether the affected students\u2062 had received their measles\u200c vaccinations\u2063 or \u200dnot. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Nevertheless, \u201cFlorida law requires that \u2062all children receive vaccines\u00a0protecting against diphtheria, tetanus,\u2064 polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and other diseases for child care\u200c center or school attendance,\u201d according to flshotsusers.com. Since the \u2064learning facility was a \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/some-northern-calif-elementary-schools-reopen\/\" title=\"Some Northern Calif. elementary schools reopen\">public elementary school<\/a>, it is assumed that the children had received their shots. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The CDC recommends a \u200dtwo-dose course of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)\u200d vaccine, which \u2062is 93% effective after one dose and 97% effective after \u200ctwo doses. According to the Broward Health Department, \u200dthose who have completed the full course of MMR vaccinations\u200b are 98% protected and highly unlikely \u200bto contract the illness.\u200b The CDC also states that an infected person can spread the disease for up to eight days: four days before the appearance of the classic \u2064rash \u2062and four days after.
