Less than a year after a Norfolk \u2064Southern train derailed in East Palestine,\u2062 Ohio, spilling dangerous chemicals, President \u200dJoe Biden finally took time out of his\u200b schedule \u2064and paid the small community a \u2064visit on Friday.<\/p>\n
Biden \u200bassured the\u2063 locals\u2063 that the U.S. government would\u200d perform its duties and stay in the region\u200b until the\u2063 cleanup works were finished after meeting with local leaders and receiving\u200c a \u200bbriefing from the Environmental Protection Agency.<\/p>\n
He commended the \u2063bravery and tenacity of the community and maintained that they are not \u201cdefined by \u2064the\u2062 derailment.\u201d He also chastised Norfolk Southern for failing \u200bto take the \u2062necessary safety measures with\u200b its\u200b hazardous cargo.<\/p>\n
However, \u200blocals in the area expressed \u2063frustration \u200bthat Biden waited a whole \u200dyear before he decided to make the trek to East Palestine. They also claimed that he has\u200d not made \u2064any effort to get the small community back on its feet.\u2063 <\/p>\n
