The\u2062 fact that lawmakers were\u200d caught\u2062 off guard raises \u2062concerns about whether Capitol Hill has fully\u200d considered the \u200bconsequences of funding a prolonged proxy war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>On\u200d Wednesday, House Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner, a Republican, released a statement urging the White House to provide details about a \u2063&#8221;serious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-on-frontline-in-fight-against-ccps-covert-war-on-us\/\" title=\"FBI leads the battle against CCP's hidden war on US.\">national security\u2063 threat<\/a>,&#8221; without specifying what it entailed. ABC News later\u200d reported that the threat referred to Russia&#8217;s desire to deploy a \u200dnuclear weapon\u2062 in space.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This \u200cweapon would not be \u200cused to drop a nuclear bomb on Earth, but rather\u200c to potentially target satellites,&#8221; ABC News explained. \u2063&#8221;Nevertheless, it is a highly concerning and sensitive\u2062 matter,&#8221; \u200dsaid\u200c an anonymous source, emphasizing its \u2063significance.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe \u200cBiden&#8217;s National Security Adviser, Jake \u200cSullivan, expressed surprise at Turner&#8217;s request for an expedited classified briefing on the \u2064issue. However, Sullivan did not offer any insight into\u2062 the specific concerns that policymakers \u200csuddenly have. Turner&#8217;s statement coincided with the House&#8217;s deliberation on the Senate&#8217;s proposal for an additional $60 billion in military \u200baid to Ukraine and the reauthorization of warrantless \u200csurveillance. \u200bNBC News even highlighted the Ohio lawmaker&#8217;s warning\u2064 about a destabilizing foreign weapon as he called for billions more in wartime funds\u2064 for \u2062Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;GOP congressman warned of Russian threat as\u200d he advocates for Ukraine\u200d aid,&#8221; read the headline.<\/p>\n<p>John Davidson, Senior Editor at The Federalist, pointed\u2063 out that all the commotion was actually triggered by \u200da statement from Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem \u200cJeffries.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The most\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/our-most-serious-national-security-threat-isnt-russian-nukes-in-space-its-intelligence-agencies-in-washington\/\" title=\"The real national security threat: Intelligence agencies in Washington, not Russian nukes in space\">urgent national security threat facing<\/a> the American people \u200dright now is the possibility that Congress\u2063 abandons\u2062 Ukraine and allows Vladimir Putin&#8217;s Russia to win,&#8221; Jeffries declared.<\/p>\n<p>Now,\u2063 on\u200d the eve \u200dof the two-year anniversary of \u2063the war, House Speaker Mike Johnson is under immense pressure to approve \u2062the Senate&#8217;s $95 billion foreign spending \u200dpackage, with about two-thirds allocated to the proxy\u2062 war in Ukraine. If passed, the total taxpayer expenditure for Kyiv \u200cwill \u200dreach $170 billion, according to The New York Times.\u2062 Lawmakers \u200don \u200cCapitol\u200d Hill have already committed \u200d$113\u200b billion to Ukraine in 2022, as reported by the \u2063Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
