They give\u200d mixed accounts of Trump\u2019s frantic last efforts to declassify Russia-related material. But\u2063 nearly everyone\u200b Public and Racket spoke to agreed that the tale obscured a broader \u200band more important story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the Substack reporters <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/14\/sources-say-u-s-intelligence-agencies-tasked-foreign-partners-with-spying-on-trumps-2016-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> the CIA launched\u2064 the Russiagate conspiracy with demands for allied nations who are members of the \u201cFive Eyes\u201d intelligence alliance to spy\u2063 on Trump and\u200b his campaign. Members of the global intelligence apparatus include the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and\u2063 the United Kingdom. In 2019, Democrats ostensibly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/02\/05\/senate-majority-acquits-trump-on-all-impeachment-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">impeached<\/a> Trump \u200bover requesting that a foreign nation investigate domestic political opponents in the U.S. Trump now faces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2023\/us\/trump-investigations-charges-indictments.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">40<\/a> criminal charges over allegations of mishandling classified \u2063documents after the FBI \u200braid on his\u2064 Florida residence. President Joe Biden escaped similar \u200dcharges because \u200dprosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/prosecutors-decline-to-charge-elderly-biden-over-poor-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a> the commander-in-chief too senile to face a jury trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMultiple sources believe that Trump\u2019s possession of the binder, or one of multiple binders, led the FBI to raid his home in Mar-a-Lago, which led to the \u2063prosecution of\u200d Trump by Justice Department \u200cspecial \u2064prosecutor Jack Smith,\u201d reported Public. Should more of that information be \u2062made public, it might implicate\u200b a long list of officials in serious abuses,\u201d Public reported.\u2064 \u201cQuestions like these may be answered if the 10-inch thick binder of sensitive documents about the origins\u200b of the\u200d Russia probe is made public.
