He is recovering well and\u200d resumed \u2063his full functions\u200d and duties today at 5 pm. The Deputy Secretary of Defense, Chairman \u200bof the Joint Chiefs of Staff,\u200b the White House, and Congress have been notified.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The statement also mentioned that Austin \u2063will continue to recuperate and perform his duties remotely from home before returning to work at the Pentagon later in the week. It emphasized \u2062that he has \u200bfull access to the necessary communication systems to carry out his responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Austin&#8217;s doctors provided an update on his health, including a timeline of events and details \u2062about his treatment.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Secretary Austin \u200cwas admitted \u2063to Walter Reed National Military\u2063 Medical Center on Feb. 11 \u2063with\u200c discomfort and concern from a bladder issue related \u200cto \u200bhis December 2023 prostate cancer\u2062 surgery.\u200b His condition \u2063indicated\u200c a need \u2062for close monitoring by the critical care team and supportive\u2063 care. His diagnostic evaluation identified the cause of his bladder issue and it\u2064 was corrected with non-surgical procedures on Feb. 12,&#8221; the physicians explained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He remained \u200cin good \u2064condition throughout and no longer needed critical care monitoring on\u2064 the morning of Feb. 13. He progressed well and was discharged to his home today. He is\u200c anticipated to continue his full recovery,&#8221; they added. &#8220;The bladder issue was not related to his cancer diagnosis\u2064 and will have no effect on his excellent cancer prognosis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cspan\/status\/1757130467122217366\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">informed reporters<\/a> on Monday that Austin will no\u200d longer be \u200ctraveling to Brussels this week for meetings concerning Ukraine and \u200dNATO.
