Inept Homeland Security Secretary Blames Others for Border Crisis<\/h2>\n
In a recent appearance on NBC \u2062News\u2019 \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d Alejandro Mayorkas,\u200d the embattled U.S. Homeland Security Secretary, demonstrated his lack of integrity and \u2062self-awareness by shifting blame for the Biden administration’s disastrous \u2063handling of the southern border crisis. <\/p>\n
When asked about his responsibility for the nightmare situation, Mayorkas essentially said, don’t hold us accountable<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt certainly \u200bis \u200ca crisis and we don\u2019t bear responsibility for a\u200c broken system, and \u2062we\u2019re dealing a tremendous amount within\u2064 that broken system,\u201d he told<\/a> moderator Kristen \u2064Welker. <\/p>\n
Perhaps Mayorkas should take the time to speak with the people \u2062living \u2063in border towns, local\u2063 law enforcement, and his own U.S. Border Patrol <\/a>agents to understand the true impact of his department’s failures. <\/p>\n
Ira\u200c Mehlman and the team from the\u2062 Federation for American\u200b Immigration Reform (FAIR) recently did just that. They visited the border towns and spoke with the residents and officials who are directly affected by the crisis.<\/p>\n
\u201cAsk the\u200c people at \u2064the border in Texas. They think the blame \u200dbelongs squarely\u200d with [the Biden administration],\u201d the FAIR media director shared during an interview on\u200c \u201c Need to Know With Jeff Angelo\u201d<\/a> on NewsRadio 1040\u200b in Des Moines. <\/p>\n

During their visit to Eagle Pass, a Texas border city, Mehlman and his team \u2064witnessed the illegal immigration\u200c crisis firsthand. The city, with its relatively gentle Rio Grande currents,\u2064 has become a focal point for migrants seeking easy entry into the United \u200cStates. The overwhelming \u200cinflux of migrants has strained Border Patrol agents and local resources.<\/p>\n
The population of Eagle Pass\u2062 has skyrocketed due to the \u2064influx of illegal aliens\u2062 encouraged by President Joe\u2062 Biden and his ineffective Homeland Security chief. In fact, December 2023 saw a record-breaking number<\/a> of over 300,000 migrant apprehensions<\/a> \u200dat the Southwest border. The Del Rio\u200d sector alone recorded over \u2063 152,252 encounters<\/a> in \u2064the first \u200bthree months of the fiscal\u200b year.<\/p>\n
Eagle\u2062 Pass has become the epicenter of a standoff between Texas and the \u200dBiden administration,\u200d highlighting the chaos of the administration’s immigration\u2062 policy. Governor\u2062 Greg Abbott, supported by several states,\u2063 has deployed National Guard troops and erected razor wire to \u2064protect the state\u2064 from the invasion. Despite a divided Supreme Court order<\/a>, Abbott remains steadfast in his commitment to defend his state \u200dand the\u200c nation from this\u2062 invasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u200dmessage from the Biden\u2063 administration is: Not only\u2064 don\u2019t we want to enforce immigration laws<\/a>, we don\u2019t want anyone else to do it,\u201d Mehlman stated.<\/p>\n
Mehlman, who witnessed the impact of Abbott’s Operation Lone Star during his visit, believes that \u200bthe strategy\u200c of deterrence is effective. However, he acknowledges that migrants are now rerouting to Arizona and California, states with governors who support Biden’s open border policies.<\/p>\n
Mayorkas conveniently shifts blame to Congress, claiming they are the only ones who\u2062 can fix the border crisis.\u200c He conveniently ignores the fact that President Biden has\u2063 reversed numerous\u200d Trump-era policies and has the power to take action to address the illegal immigration flood<\/a>. The Senate’s failed border deal would have only worsened the crisis, according to critics like Mehlman. They argue that Senate \u2062Minority Leader Mitch McConnell \u2062and Senator James Lankford\u200d “sold \u2064out” \u200dthe House’s version of the bill, leaving lawmakers serious about border\u2062 security in a lose-lose situation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, House Republicans are regrouping after their failed attempt\u2062 to impeach Mayorkas. Speaker Mike Johnson believes they will have the numbers this time, with \u200dMajority Leader Steve Scalise back in action after undergoing cancer treatment<\/a> during the previous vote.<\/p>\n
Mehlman firmly believes that Mayorkas deserves to be impeached for his failure to uphold immigration laws and his dereliction of duty as Homeland\u200d Security Secretary.<\/p>\n
