The cremation has been delayed.<\/p>\n<p>Roy referred to a \u2062press release from ACLJ (American Center for Law\u200c &#038; Justice), a nonprofit based in D.C. that uses legal means to\u2062 advocate for the investigation \u2063of the deaths of these\u200b babies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We contacted D.C. one final time in an attempt\u200d to\u200c resolve this issue and delay action on the disposition of the remains of these babies before we\u200d filed\u2062 our\u2062 lawsuit,&#8221; ACLJ posted on Friday. &#8220;We \u200dhave just received \u2062assurances that the D.C.\u200c government is \u2063standing down from today&#8217;s cremation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The full \u2064update can be viewed\u200c below:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><strong data-stringify-type=\"bold\">UPDATE 02.09.2024:<\/strong> The ACLJ was preparing to file an emergency writ of mandamus on behalf of \u2062our client to force D.C. officials to follow <a href=\"https:\/\/code.dccouncil.gov\/us\/dc\/council\/code\/sections\/3-413\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the law<\/a> \u200b and allow\u2063 for the proper burial of these\u200c babies. We contacted D.C. one\u200b final time in an attempt to resolve\u2063 this issue and\u2062 delay\u200c action on the disposition of the remains\u2063 of these babies before \u2062we filed our lawsuit. We \u2062have just received assurances\u200b that the\u200c D.C. government is standing down from today&#8217;s cremation. What this means\u200d is\u200c that we were successful in preventing\u200b the Biden DOJ and D.C.\u2062 from destroying the evidence of potential crimes and from simultaneously blocking the \u200bhonoring of these young \u200clives with a proper burial. The D.C. government also indicated to us that they will respond to\u2062 Congress&#8217; demands. Metropolitan Police Department,&#8221; the group stated. &#8220;These children were\u200c apparently from the Washington\u2062 Surgi-Clinic\u2062 in Washington,\u2064 D.C., a facility operated by the late-term abortionist Cesare\u200d Santangelo.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead of ensuring that the horrific deaths of these children were properly investigated, the police made the assumption that each\u200c child died as a result of a \u200blegal abortion,&#8221; the post continued.\u200d &#8220;They made\u200b this \u2062assumption without conducting\u2064 any medical evaluations or autopsies whatsoever. In fact, some doctors have examined pictures\u200d of these babies \u200cand found evidence that would support the conclusion that these children were killed through illegal and egregious\u2063 partial-birth abortions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Founder of Progressive \u200dAnti Abortion \u2062Uprising \u2062(PAAU), Terrisa\u200c Bukovinac, and pro-life activist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/anger-erupts-after-biden-doj-gets-5-pro-life-activists-convicted-thrown-in-jail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lauren Handy<\/a>, claim that \u2063they received the babies&#8217; bodies from a \u200dworker at the abortion clinic just before they were to be incinerated at a medical waste \u2063facility, as reported \u2064by Fox News last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Lauren and I will carry the memories of these children\u200d with us \u200cforever, and we will\u200b never\u200c stop fighting \u200cfor their justice,&#8221; \u200bBukovinac said.<\/p>\n<p>Following \u2062the discovery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meet-anna-paulina-luna-the-firebrand-conservative-who-wasnt-supposed-to-win\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rep. Anna Paulina\u200d Luna<\/a> (R-FL) called for the revocation of Santangelo&#8217;s medical license.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are\u200c so grateful to Rep. Luna for her courage, and we \u200bdemand that \u200cCongress follow her lead by conducting hearings for these\u200b children, holding their killer accountable, and passing a national ban at viability to ensure that these crimes against humanity never happen again,&#8221; \u200cBukovinac \u200cadded.<\/p>\n<p>Last\u2062 year, the Biden Department of Justice \u200csuccessfully convicted five pro-life activists, including Handy, for demonstrating at the Washington Surgi-Clinic, which the DOJ claimed violated the \u2062Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, also known as the FACE Act.<\/p>\n<p>Handy and the others &#8211; John\u2062 Hinshaw, Heather Idoni,\u200d William \u200cGoodman, and Herb Geraghty &#8211; face 11 years behind bars and \u2062were thrown in jail to await their sentences.
