Dean Phillips (D-MN) expressed\u200b his strong support for President Joe\u2064 Biden in the wake of special\u200c counsel Robert Hur&#8217;s\u2062 scathing report questioning the president&#8217;s mental capabilities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Phillips appeared on several \u2064television\u200c interviews to \u2064address the\u200c concerns raised by Hur, who\u200b referred to Biden as &#8220;an elderly man&#8221; with\u200b &#8220;poor memory.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hur&#8217;s office had previously interviewed\u2064 Biden and concluded\u2063 that \u200che did not possess the mental state necessary for \u2062indictment regarding\u2063 his handling of classified documents. The \u2063report stated that it \u2062would be challenging to convince a jury to convict him.<\/p>\n<p>Following the \u200drelease of the report, Phillips joined \u200bJesse Watters Primetime Friday to express \u200chis\u200b disappointment with Biden&#8217;s press conference. Biden strongly criticized Hur, defending his \u200down memory and questioning how Hur dared \u2064to doubt his recollection of his\u200c son&#8217;s death date.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a sad moment. Most patriotic Americans watched that press conference and saw \u2062a decent man. I want\u2064 to wholeheartedly \u200bdefend him,&#8221;\u2064 Phillips emphasized. &#8220;He is a\u200d decent \u2063man, \u200band it was disheartening to witness him having to \u2062defend himself\u200c and his\u200c son Beau from these accusations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Sen. John Fetterman Sees Phillips&#8217; Sympathy as a\u2064 Campaign Strategy<\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) viewed Phillips&#8217; support for Biden as a\u2062 mere \u2064campaign tactic.\u2064 Phillips is currently\u200b running against Biden for the Democratic nomination but has\u200b not secured\u200d any wins in the early primaries.<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman appeared\u2064 on \u200dCNN NewsNight to\u200d respond to Phillips&#8217;\u200d statement, stating, &#8220;Actually, what&#8217;s truly sad\u200d is\u2064 to see someone \u200dwith\u200c excessive wealth wasting it and attempting to aid Trump \u2063at \u200bthis stage. He\u200d has\u200b the right to do so, but he\u2064 has repeatedly faced humiliation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman continued, &#8220;If you appreciate that\u200d kind of behavior, there are probably cheaper and\u200d more private options \u200davailable.
