Mitch McConnell<\/a> and \u2062his Oklahoma-lackey <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/lankford-peddles-far-left-conspiracy-that-conservatives-dont-want-to-solve-border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. \u200cJames Lankford<\/a>. The previous legislation that supposedly bundled\u200d border and foreign aid would\u2062 have codified the ongoing southern border invasion\u2063 into law by largely preventing meaningful action from being taken \u2064unless there was, as \u200cFederalist Senior Editor David \u2062Harsanyi <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/06\/nothing-about-the-rigged-senate-border-bill-is-in-the-national-interest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a>, a \u2062\u201crolling average of 5,000 border encounters per \u200dday for a week, or 8,500 \u2064encounters in a single day.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1867863326\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b1b15a97dbd20e8d9ad3df5101564760 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b1b15a97dbd20e8d9ad3df5101564760\"><\/div>\n<p>Subsequently,\u2062 Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer opted \u200bto \u2062advance the \u201cemergency \u200bsecurity spending\u201d legislation, which prioritized foreign assistance without <em>any<\/em> funding \u2064for \u2062border security. The Hill \u200dreported \u200dSchumer as <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/4454065-senate-advances-ukraine-funding-without-border-security-reforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">saying<\/a>, \u201cFirst Republicans\u200b said they would only do Ukraine and\u00a0Israel, humanitarian aid with border.\u2063 Then they said they would not\u2063 do it with [the] border. Well, we\u2019re \u2063going to \u2063give them both options. We\u2019ll take either one. We just hope they\u200c can come to \u2018yes\u2019 on something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats view the\u2062 border invasion with optimism. The \u200bmultinational horde of fighting-age men serves their agenda. Obviously, they\u2019re fine playing politics with this existential threat. Republicans have no excuse;\u2062 border security is supposed to be a make-or-break \u200bissue for them.<\/p>\n<p>So, in\u2063 light\u2063 of recent events, it\u2019s worth \u200crevisiting\u200c comments from 13 of these defective Republicans who vowed to prioritize\u2063 securing the southern border \u2063but have decided that Zelensky\u2019s\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/south-dakota-lowers-unemployment-to-pre-pandemic-levels-after-state-rejected-lockdowns\/\" title=\"South Dakota Lowers Unemployment to Pre-Pandemic Levels After State Rejected Lockdowns\">rainy-day fund<\/a>\u2064 is more important than American sovereignty.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shelley Moore Capito, West Virginia<\/h2>\n<p>Previously viewing solidifying the border as an issue of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/wvpress.org\/breaking-news\/capito-wants-border-security-added-to-ukraine-israel-funding-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">national security<\/a>,\u201d Capito highlighted the \u2062national government\u2019s inability\u2064 to verify who the millions of illegal migrants were or where \u200dthey were coming from.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8f063f154acaf462c2e056d2bd13f494 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8f063f154acaf462c2e056d2bd13f494\"><\/div>\n<p>She said in December, \u201cWith\u200d 2.4 million (migrants) coming across the\u200b border last year and with the highest October ever, and \u2063the highest \u2062month ever in September \u2014 \u2064I mean these numbers are just exceedingly way, way over what could\u200d have ever been predicting coming across the southern border,\u201d adding, \u201cWe don\u2019t know who they are. We know some of them are\u200d on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-delegation-calls-on-biden-to-take-action-at-border\/\" title=\"GOP delegation calls on Biden to take action at border\">terror watch list<\/a>. We know some of them are from countries \u2062that have terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having previously called for a \u201cfour-prong approach\u201d providing aid \u200cto \u201cIsrael, \u200cthe border, Ukraine\u200c and\u2062 Tawain,\u201d Capito appears content leaving Americans to fend for themselves.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bill Cassidy, Louisiana<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Despite previously <a href=\"https:\/\/louisianaradionetwork.com\/2023\/12\/06\/senator-cassidy-no-aid-for-ukraine-and-israel-unless-there-are-policy-changes-to-secure-the-u-s-southern-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">saying<\/a>, \u201cWe got to support our allies, but we \u200cgot to secure our own border first,\u201d\u200d Cassidy opted to \u200bforsake his promise to end\u200d the \u201cchaos\u201d he adamantly claimed \u201c[t]he \u2062American people \u2063rightfully so \u2063want\u201d to see end.  <\/p>\n<p>Cassidy\u2019s Thursday vote, however, calls into question why \u200che is more aligned with the Biden administration\u2019s foreign\u200c priorities than ensuring \u2062the rights of Americans \u201cto feel safe in their own\u2063 country.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-68f956435a40b174e8b84eb55a320901 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-68f956435a40b174e8b84eb55a320901\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Susan Collins,\u200b Maine<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Although \u200cnever a reliable conservative, Collins, \u200dthe top \u200bRepublican on the Senate Appropriations Committee, previously told \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/11\/02\/ukraine-supplemental-hinges-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a> that \u200bborder security is an \u201cabsolutely essential part\u201d \u200cof a bill to send\u200c more money\u2062 to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>John \u200bCornyn,\u200d Texas <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThey want tens of billions of dollars\u2064 to help\u2063 our \u2064friends and allies overseas, but they\u2019re not willing to do\u200c what\u2019s necessary to prevent a potential crisis at the border,\u201d Cornyn previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/12\/05\/us\/politics\/ukraine-aid-zelensky-congress.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lamented<\/a>, adding, \u201cThe Biden administration just does not seem \u200bto care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cornyn has also \u2062now prioritized funding \u2062America\u2019s proxy war with Russia over fighting for border funding that \u2062could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-fda-commissioner-hopeful-on-vaccine-rollout\/\" title=\"Former FDA commissioner hopeful on vaccine rollout\">save countless lives<\/a>\u200b and prevent further lawlessness in his home state.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[Related:[Related:<a Ukraine should not be\u200d America\u2019s priority over ensuring our own sovereignty,\u2063 Ernst\u200c previously called \u2064on lawmakers to prioritize \u201cnational security.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is not Ukraine, and\u200b it\u2019s not President Zelensky.\u200c It\u2019s our own \u200dnational security \u2062at our southern border,\u201d Ernst <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/4356944-zelenksy-ukraine-results-biden-washington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in\u2062 December. <\/p>\n<p>Yet despite \u2062there being no significant change in the\u2063 status of the Ukraine-Russia war, Ernst decided it\u200d was more important to send billions abroad instead of fighting to shore up \u2063the southern\u2064 border.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Chuck Grassley, Iowa<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe have to have \u200dthe same consideration about our\u200c own\u2064 border,\u201d Grassley previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mississippivalleypublishing.com\/daily_gate\/grassley-discusses-ukraine-israel-and-border\/article_b8492688-990c-11ee-bbcf-7b0f75698c33.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, calling\u2062 for domestic \u2063action to be taken before\u2063 any further commitments were made to \u201cthe border of Israel and \u200cGaza, Russia and Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>John Kennedy,\u200d Louisiana<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re\u2062 as serious as four heart attacks and a stroke,\u201d Kennedy \u2062previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/sen-kennedy-vows-gop-budge-border-security-serious-four-heart-attacks-stroke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> when calling for\u200c border security to be prioritized over foreign assistance.<\/p>\n<p>He \u200csaid,\u2064 \u201cNow, \u2062the president sent us a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-congressman-who-pushed-china-divestment-kept-his-own-chinese-investments\/\" title=\"Dem Congressman Who Pushed China Divestment Kept His Own Chinese Investments\">national security bill<\/a> and we said, OK, \u200bwe\u2019re\u200b going to do national security, but we\u2019re\u2062 not going to pass your bill until you \u200cclose the border. And the president \u2064said, \u2064surely you\u2019re not serious. And the Republicans in the Senate said, don\u2019t call me Shirley \u2064and we\u200b are serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, Republicans are in no way, shape, or form \u2064serious people. If they were, Kennedy and his ilk wouldn\u2019t have lied \u200bto the public about how important they consider the\u2063 border \u2063to be.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mitch\u200c McConnell,\u200d Kentucky<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s \u2063to be \u2062expected that McConnell \u200bwill always ruin everything. But even he once appeared adamant \u2063that there would be no further \u2062\u201csupplemental legislation\u201d passing the upper\u2064 chamber \u2062until the border crisis was addressed. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs my colleagues and \u2063I \u200bon \u200bthis side of the aisle have\u200d made abundantly clear,\u2063 national security begins with border security.\u2064 And any serious \u200csupplemental legislation with a\u2064 shot of \u2063passing the \u200dSenate in the coming weeks will\u2062 have to take meaningful steps toward fixing the Biden Administration\u2019s border crisis,\u201d the Senate minority \u2062leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.republicanleader.senate.gov\/newsroom\/remarks\/mcconnell-time-to-get-serious-on-border-security-policy?peek=IsXLns2nuPcSF9Lr3MoNaY142dXpDy3mxCFGEGrm%2FizMF98Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> last November. <\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s consistent role as controlled opposition\u2064 and inability \u200dto deliver results has led to several of his colleagues demanding he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/2841791\/mitch-mcconnell-hits-back-at-gop-critics-calling-on-him-to-quit-citing-failed-2022-coup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resign<\/a> from his role in Senate leadership. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mitt Romney, Utah<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got to secure the border,\u201d Romney once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romney.senate.gov\/romney-we-must-secure-border-and-continue-aid-for-ukraine-and-israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded<\/a>. \u201cAny effort that doesn\u2019t\u2062 do that will be rejected Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But\u2064 much \u2062like\u200d McConnell, Romney \u2063exists to\u2063 spike the football at the\u2064 one-yard line. He\u2019s never been\u2062 serious about advancing\u2063 a conservative agenda and appears to be similarly uncommitted to protecting America\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mike Rounds, South Dakota <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cAny bill with aid for \u200dIsrael and Ukraine \u200bmust include policy changes at \u200dour Southern border,\u201d Rounds\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorRounds\/status\/1730006203802034395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proclaimed<\/a> in\u2064 November. <\/p>\n<p>Well,\u2062 so much for that.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>John Thune, South Dakota <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Noting many congressional Republicans\u2019 commitment to meddling in foreign conflicts that in no identifiable way benefit Americans, Thune <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/N9VuYBERpuA?feature=shared\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in December, \u201cA lot of us Republicans\u200c are very eager to get Ukraine the aid \u200bit needs. But we cannot \u2014 we cannot \u2014 tend to\u2062 our national security\u2063 interests abroad while ignoring the national security\u200d crisis on our \u200bown doorstep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But because of Republicans \u2064like \u2064Thune, the crisis on our doorstep will continue\u200d to be ignored, and\u200d American lives will be needlessly lost.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Roger \u200cWicker, Mississippi<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe needed to demonstrate that Republicans are not going to pass a supplemental appropriation\u200b bill unless it \u2063takes care\u200b of very important restrictions on the southern border,\u201d\u200b Wicker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjtv.com\/washington\/washington-dc\/sen-wicker-calls-for-immigration-reform-in-aid-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> just a few months ago.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Todd Young, Indiana<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t \u200cbelieve we \u2062should take this off \u200cthe table. \u2026\u2063 Let\u2019s get something consequential done for the American people,\u201d Young\u2062 recently\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-senate-no-2-republican-border-talks-critical-moment-plan-b-possible-2024-01-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, referring\u200b to the importance \u2063of fighting for causes like border security that actually benefit Americans.<\/p>\n<p>But he, just like the other Republican\u2064 defects, \u200bis nothing more than a sellout.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Now?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the coming days, the Senate will\u200c hold further \u2063votes\u200b to solidify foreign aid packages\u2062 before the legislation gets sent to the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson and House Armed Services Committee Chair \u2064Mike Rogers claim anything without sufficient border guarantees is\u2063 dead on arrival.<\/p>\n<p>In that time, it\u2019s likely more Republicans will move to support sending\u200b billions\u200c of \u200bdollars abroad before anything \u200cclose to resembling a serious border policy comes to the floor. Senators like Lindsey Graham\u2062 of South \u200bCarolina are \u2064requesting\u200d amendments\u200b be added\u2063 to\u2063 the legislation that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/02\/08\/us\/politics\/ukraine-israel-aid-bill-senate.html\">according<\/a> to The \u2064New York Times, would \u200d\u201ccap the number of migrants that\u200d could be paroled into the United States at 10,000 annually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This legislation requires 60 votes to move forward. Republicans can\u200c gain control of the situation and\u2064 force the national focus to fully\u200c be\u200c on the southern border, as it should be. Elected Republicans \u2064and conservative voters need to remind the defectors that they were \u200celected \u2062to protect America,\u200b not Ukraine. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f73b261499632e994192be49cdc4992d fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f73b261499632e994192be49cdc4992d\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p> rnrn  <\/p>\n<h2> How does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/buttigiegs-own-story-perfectly-shows-how-terrible-his-time-at-transportation-sec-has-been\/\" title=\"Buttigieg's tenure as Transportation Sec has been a disaster, as his own story reveals.\">prioritizing foreign aid<\/a> over border security \u2063demonstrate a lack of understanding of the situation at the southern border?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ong><\/h2>\n<p>In \u200bJanuary, Young stated, \u201cWe should not \u2064move forward with\u200c any appropriations measures \u200dthat do not address the crisis on our Southern border. I believe that border security is a \u2064national security issue that must be a\u200c priority for the\u200c federal\u2064 government.\u201d However, his\u200b vote in favor of\u200d advancing the security spending bill \u200cshows that his words\u2064 were empty\u200d promises.<\/p>\n<p>These\u2063 are just a few examples of the Republican senators who have shown their disregard for American sovereignty and\u200d the security \u2063of the \u200cAmerican people. Their votes in favor\u2063 of prioritizing foreign aid over border security \u2062demonstrate a lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation \u200dat the southern border. <\/p>\n<p>The American people deserve representatives who will \u200dprioritize their safety and well-being over political gains and foreign interests. It is clear that these senators have lost sight of their role as public servants and have instead chosen \u2062to prioritize their personal agendas. <\/p>\n<p>If we are to secure the \u200bsouthern border and protect the American\u2062 people, we need elected \u2063officials who are willing to \u2064take bold action and put the needs of their constituents first. It is time \u2063for Republicans to hold their representatives \u200daccountable \u200band demand that they prioritize border security and the\u200d sovereignty of our nation.
