Prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/prosecutors-decline-to-charge-elderly-biden-over-poor-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declined<\/a> to charge the president in part because Biden is an \u201celderly man with a poor memory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him by \u2014 by then a former president well into his eighties \u2014 of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,\u201d Hur\u2019s team wrote. Biden reportedly forgot when he was vice president and struggled with the timeline of his son\u2019s death, \u201ceven within several years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here are 4 lies the president shared throughout the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=glPkBqLHV4E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">30-minute speech<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Biden Says He Did Not Share Classified Info with His Ghostwriter<\/h2>\n<p>Biden vehemently denied ever having shared classified material with his ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, who worked with the president on two memoirs. The bombshell\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/storage\/report-from-special-counsel-robert-k-hur-february-2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> from a special counsel investigation, however, said Biden\u2019s \u201cdisclosure of classified information from his notebooks to his ghostwriter risked serious damage to America\u2019s national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Biden: &#8220;I did not share classified information with my ghostwriter. I did not. Biden Says Classified Documents Were Secured Within His Home<\/h2>\n<p>The president sought to distinguish his own case from charges levied against former President Donald Trump, who faces a 40-count indictment over allegations of mishandling classified documents. Prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-justice-department-indictment-classified-documents-miami-8315a5b23c18f27083ed64eef21efff3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> the documents at Mar-a-Lago were recklessly stored and were discovered in the \u201cballroom, a bathroom and shower, and office space, his bedroom, and a storage room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the stuff that was in my home was in filing cabinets that were either locked or able to be locked,\u201d Biden told reporters Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Hur\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/storage\/report-from-special-counsel-robert-k-hur-february-2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>, however, said investigators found classified documents in the \u201cgarage, offices, and basement den\u201d of Biden\u2019s Delaware home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the place where the Afghanistan documents were eventually found in Mr. Biden\u2019s Delaware garage \u2014 in a badly damaged box surrounded by household detritus \u2014 suggests the documents might have been forgotten,\u201d Hur\u2019s report noted.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Biden Insists His Memory \u2018Is Fine\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Biden insisted to reporters his memory is fine\u201d in the same press conference that he <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/in-presser-insisting-hes-mentally-fit-biden-says-mexicos-president-is-calling-shots-in-gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confused <\/a>the \u201cpresident of Mexico\u201d with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi when responding to a question about the situation in Gaza.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In a speech focused on rebutting claims his memory is failing, Biden says he talked &#8220;the president of Mexico&#8221; into opening gates in Gaza for humanitarian supplies, referring to him as &#8220;El-Sisi.&#8221; Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is the president of Egypt. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QPm9YPXoZk\">pic.twitter.com\/QPm9YPXoZk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Federalist (@FDRLST) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FDRLST\/status\/1755771814804885624?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Biden also angrily fought back allegations that he confused the timeline of his son\u2019s death, Beau, who died of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/05\/31\/us\/politics\/joseph-r-biden-iii-vice-presidents-son-beau-dies-at-46.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brain cancer<\/a> in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t need anyone to remind me when he passed away,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>The facts and circumstances surrounding Beau\u2019s death have become one of the president\u2019s most routinely botched lines in speeches across the country that even cable news commentators have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/13\/juan-williams-repeats-false-claim-that-biden-lost-his-son-in-iraq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeated<\/a> the false claim.<\/p>\n<h2>4.
