Trump is leading Biden by five points in NBC\u2019s poll, and, more generally, the 2024 general election polls thus far show Trump consistently winning. This is a marked reversal\u200b from 2020, where the polls showed Biden with a 7-point lead heading into an\u200b election he barely edged out an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-gop-push-back-on-impeachment-talks\/\" title=\"White House, GOP push back on impeachment talks\">electoral college victory<\/a> by 40,000 or so votes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-181035269\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5c21ce9281c4df942712ba9ae7059c16 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5c21ce9281c4df942712ba9ae7059c16\"><\/div>\n<p>Now, there are a\u2063 number\u2062 of obvious reasons why Biden is flailing this time around. The NBC poll notes Trump has a 20-point advantage on\u2062 the economy, a 30-point \u200dadvantage on immigration and border security, and a 16-point advantage on \u201cbeing competent and effective.\u201d (Democrats are probably pretty despondent to consider \u200che\u2019s being\u2064 walloped on that last metric by \u2064President Covfefe.)<\/p>\n<p>But when you look at Biden\u2019s approval rating in\u2064 the poll, something else jumps out. Biden\u2019s approval rating \u2013 36 percent approve, 54 percent disapprove of\u2062 the job he\u2019s doing as president \u2013 is absolutely terrible for an incumbent president during an election year. But\u200c the NBC poll offers up the approval \u200cratings \u2063of all the major candidates, and it turns out Biden doesn\u2019t have \u2063the lowest\u2064 approval\u200c rating in the White House. That belongs to Kamala Harris, who is at 28 percent disapproval,\u200c 53 percent approval. \u2063WOOF.<\/p>\n<p>Now, obviously, given the major issues dragging Biden down,\u200d it would\u200c hardly seem like Kamala Harris would be the singular thing that sinks Biden, even if her approval \u2064rating is comparable to that of\u2062 venereal disease. However, Biden needs all the help he can get, and given his unique problems,\u200b an energetic \u200dand engaged vice president would go a long way toward counteracting the negative \u2063perception of him.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, there\u2019s the\u2062 issue of Biden\u2019s age and cognitive decline. Especially after\u2063 yesterday\u2019s news, Democrats are not going to get through another election cycle berating reporters that Biden\u2019s\u200d confusion is\u200b a result of a heroic lifelong struggle to overcome\u200c a childhood stutter. Biden is speaking in\u200b the\u200c present tense about world leaders\u2064 who died when grunge was \u2064still popular, and that\u2019s \u2064when he\u2019s capable of speaking at\u2062 all. Voters can clearly see that mentally, the wheel may be turning, but the\u200b hamster is deceased.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1ac13713e34711c83939a87320013c7c fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1ac13713e34711c83939a87320013c7c\"><\/div>\n<p>As a result, the Biden campaign\u2019s goal is to minimize his\u200b public presence during the election, which \u200dcan only hurt him. They did this to a large extent in\u2063 2020, but Covid was a\u2063 convenient excuse. Now, what\u2019s the\u200b reason\u200d why Biden is turning down an\u200c audience of 20\u200d million people to conduct an interview on Super Bowl Sunday? CNN\u2062 assures us that\u200b turning down such\u200c a huge \u2063audience is part of a\u200b \u201clarger media strategy\u201d where Biden\u2019s advisers \u201cgive \u200cthe already fatigued public\u200d a break from politics during\u2062 the big game.\u201d <strong>The reality as we \u2064know it is that they simply don\u2019t want to have another viral clip \u2063where he\u2019s asked\u200c a\u200c tough question about Gaza and he responds\u200b by nodding off on camera and dribbling cerebral \u2064spinal fluid out of the corner of his mouth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In fact, an AP story from earlier this week, \u201cBiden is\u200b going small to try to win big in November. That means stops \u2062for boba tea, burgers and beer,\u201d does indeed confirm that the Biden strategy for the coming election is, to the extent he\u2019s going to\u200b campaign \u200dat all, he\u2019s going to do \u2063it in intimate, easily controlled settings. They\u2019re \u2062scared to let voters interact with him and \u200csee him up close.<\/p>\n<p>Now, given that\u2019s the case, just imagine Biden had \u2064an\u2062 energetic, well-liked \u200dvice president out on the trail. Voters could at least tell\u200c themselves that if they vote for Biden and we \u2063have to confront the all-too-likely possibility \u2064Biden goes face down in a bowl of Chunky \u200cMonkey in the Oval and never wakes up, at least there\u2019s a\u200b commanding presence in the wings waiting to step-up.<\/p>\n<p>Instead,\u200d we have Kamala Harris, who seems to defy the \u2064laws of political physics by existing in two categories at the same time \u2014 she\u2019s both actively \u2064disliked by voters <em>and<\/em> \u200ban almost complete nonentity when it comes to exerting any \u200binfluence on policy or politics. I mean, what has she done of note \u200das vice president?\u200b Anything at all? During his first year in office, Biden tasked her with overseeing diplomatic efforts allegedly aimed at stopping the mass influx of illegal immigrants across the southern border. How\u2019s that going? Let\u2019s check the spin at CNN:<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b06620b206ba8fa578d60f4a57b378fb fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b06620b206ba8fa578d60f4a57b378fb\"><\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>Since being tasked with tackling root causes, Harris has only occasionally talked about the effort as the\u2064 situation along the US-Mexico border became a political vulnerability\u200c for Biden. \u2026 A senior administration official recognized the attention on the US-Mexico border but maintained that \u200dHarris\u2019 work is not intended to solve the immediate issues on the ground there.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, Kamala is \u2064trying to \u200ddistance herself from her own responsibilities \u2064on an issue \u2062that is now voters\u2019 number one concern. \u201cNot intended to\u2062 solve the immediate issues on the ground\u2062 there\u201d? What an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heckler-screams-for-star-tennis-player-novak-djokovic-to-get-vaccinated-only-to-get-silenced-after-dominant-performance\/\" title=\"Heckler silenced as Djokovic dominates after vaccination demand\">awe-inspiring display<\/a> \u200dof leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s the issue of Kamala herself; Biden\u2019s age-related senility\u200b means that his verbal stumbles at least\u200c induce some measure of pity along with \u2064the embarrassment. Kamala\u2019s <em>furor loquendi,<\/em> on the other hand, well, what the hell are we supposed to make of the fact that even The New \u200cYork \u200dTimes concedes, \u201cthe vice\u200c president\u2019s critics have not exactly fabricated, ex nihilo, the notion that\u2063 she chops language into \u2063what they call \u2018word salads.\u2019\u201d Frankly, that\u2019s a polite read \u2064on authentic California self-actualized airhead gibberish such as, \u201cI think it\u2019s very important, as you have heard from so many\u2062 incredible leaders, for us, at every moment in time, and certainly this one, to see the moment in time in which we exist and are \u200bpresent, and to be able to contextualize it, to understand\u2064 where we exist in the history and in the moment, as it relates not only to the past but the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, something must be\u200d said about\u2062 Kamala Harris\u2019\u2063 truly \u200bbizarre and omnipresent laugh, which is less an expression \u200dof amusement\u200c and more like a frantic attempt to hide\u200c her\u200c obvious\u2062 discomfort. If you think I\u2019m being unfair, apparently, the vice president\u2019s braying is an international incident. Last March, Daily Telegraph\u2063 columnist Tim Blair went on Australian TV and was asked about her weird propensity to laugh at \u200bthe drop of a hat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s the thing about Kamala Harris, if she were able somehow\u2064 if she \u200cwere\u200b a genius who\u2063 could solve every problem on Earth and bring the Middle East together and solve every energy crisis, it wouldn\u2019t matter,\u201d Blair said. \u201cBecause the laugh kills \u2063it anyway; the laugh is the biggest, destructive, negative force probably ever unleashed in American politics. No\u2062 one\u2019s voting for the laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In sum, not only has Kamala Harris not accomplished anything\u200b meaningful as vice president, but her physical presence seems to cause \u200cpeople to intensely dislike her, \u200deven if \u200cthat\u2019s irrational to some \u200ddegree. Not only is Kamala Harris\u200b incapable of helping\u200d push Biden over the finish line, \u200dbut the smart political move would be to cut the dead weight and add someone to the ticket who is moderately \u2064capable and not actively\u2063 disliked by over half of\u2062 voters.<\/p>\n<p>And while\u200c there\u2019s been a \u2064lot of chatter about Dems finding a way to replace Biden \u2014 which is intensifying rapidly after yesterday\u2019s revelations \u2014 there\u2019s been almost no talk about the Kamala problem. Historically, swapping out a VP on the ticket due \u2062to scandal or perceived political advantage has plenty of precedents.\u200d But that\u2019s not going to happen here, no matter how helpful it would\u200d be, because cementing the narrative that Harris was chosen for her sex and skin color, not her qualifications, is not something a political party that has fully committed to identity politics could get \u2062away with.<\/p>\n<p>Given the political headwinds facing \u200dBiden, a decent vice presidential candidate who\u2019s able to\u200d vigorously \u2063campaign could be the difference between Biden\u2019s reelection and Trump: The\u200d Revenging. Democrats insist\u200c the latter possibility would be the end of\u2062 American self-governance, but apparently,\u2064 they don\u2019t believe \u2062that, or they would \u2064insist at least one person on the Democratic \u2064ticket be able to \u200bspeak an intelligible sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, the emerging questions about Biden\u2019s mental fitness mean that Kamala Harris is likely\u200b going \u2062to\u200d face a lot of scrutiny that Democrats, and \u2064even Harris herself, hoped to \u2064avoid. So far, whenever there\u2019s\u2064 even been a small \u200cfocus on her role as vice president, voters haven\u2019t \u2063liked what they\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How do Kamala Harris&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/series-of-recent-national-polls-released-its-big-for-trump-but-biden-wont-like-it\/\" title=\"New Polls Favor Trump, Biden Displeased\">approval ratings compare<\/a> to Joe Biden&#8217;s, and \u2063what does this \u200dmean\u2064 for their re-election campaign?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  \u2062 Is\u200c Kamala Harris a Liability for Biden&#8217;s Reelection?<\/p>\n<p>In light of recent poll results \u2062and\u200b Joe Biden&#8217;s declining approval\u2063 ratings, \u2062it is necessary\u200c to discuss the role\u200c of Kamala Harris in \u2063Biden&#8217;s re-election campaign. \u2062According to a recent NBC News poll, Donald \u2063Trump is \u2064leading Biden by five points, reflecting a significant \u2063reversal from the\u200b 2020\u200b election.
