The simple fact of \u2064the\u200b matter\u2063 is that in a meritocracy, we should be able to point out when you are corrupt or when \u200dyou have failed. If every defense to failure is that the system itself \u200bis biased against you, that means \u2063failure will continue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is true system-wide, everywhere \u2014 from \u200bpolitics to administration, from the business world \u200dto the\u2064 educational world. When Claudine Gay gets fired from Harvard University, the\u200b basic idea is \u2064that it must be a racist system \u2062that\u2064 got her\u2063 fired. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There \u200cis now no way to \u200bhold people accountable if they are from a minority race. If, \u200cfor example, you\u2019re a\u200b politician and\u2064 it turns out you\u2019re deeply corrupt, and your first move is to claim America \u200cis racist because that\u2019s why you\u2019re being targeted \u2014\u2062 if that\u2019s believed \u2014 there is no way to get rid of corrupt officials so long as they\u2063 are of minority status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once that standard is created and the basic idea becomes\u2062 that \u200dcertain people in our society have a get-out-of-jail-free card and others do not, then\u200c all standards collapse because a double standard is no standard at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>WATCH: The Ben Shapiro \u200cShow<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The latest iteration of\u200b this particular foolish, divisive defense comes courtesy of \u200ba person named Tiffany Henyard. You might not have heard of Tiffany Henyard, but \u2064this is a burgeoning story about a small town mayor in Dolton, Illinois\u2063 \u2014 a town of 20,000 people \u2014\u00a0 who\u2019s been \u200calleged to have engaged in significant corruption on a vast scale.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This story was reported\u200c in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12931847\/mayor-tiffany-henyard-dolton-illinois-slammed-salary-expenses.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the UK Daily \u200dMail<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The\u2063 first female mayor of a tiny Illinois village \u2062slammed her critics at a public meeting after she caused outrage by taking a $300,000 salary. Glamorous Tiffany Henyard was elected \u200cleader of \u2062Dolton, a village of 20,000, in 2021, but \u200chas since come under fire for what many see as her excessive spending. \u2026 She regularly engages the services of a professional hair and makeup team and \u200bstylist \u200bbefore public appearances\u200d and photo shoots for the county\u2019s taxpayer-funded billboards, which\u200b often feature the 40-year-old in what some see as shameless self-promotion.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Henyard has proposed a new law that would cap the next mayor\u2019s salary at $25,000, unless she herself is the new mayor, a proposal many have deemed illegal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe scandal is just the latest to hit the beleaguered mayor, after she \u2064was slammed for hiring her former campaign worker as the town\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-mayor-hires-convicted-sex-offender-who-raped-teenage-girls-to-inspect-homes-residents-ill-be-terrified\/\" title=\"Dem Mayor Hires Convicted Sex Offender Who Raped Teenage Girls To Inspect Homes. Residents: \u2018I\u2019ll Be Terrified\u2019\">code enforcement officer<\/a> despite the fact \u2063he is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reddit-faces-massive-user-protest-for-banning-criticism-of-controversial-employee\/\" title=\"Reddit Faces Massive User Protest for Banning Criticism of Controversial Employee\">convicted child rapist<\/a>,\u201d the Daily Mail continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now\u200d she \u2064is now being investigated for all of this. \u2064Her\u2063 defense is a defense that has become the all-purpose defense for an enormous number of people in our post-George Floyd society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-13058511\/Tiffany-Henyard-mayor-Dolton-Illinois-corruption.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">spoke<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  about her alleged corruption and the reasons why\u2062 she\u2019s being targeted, saying, \u201cYou all should be ashamed of yourselves because \u2062you are all \u200dblack. You are all black!\u2063 And you \u200dall sitting up here beating and attacking a black woman that\u2019s in power. You\u200c all should be ashamed of \u2063yourselves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now again, the\u200b basic idea here is that even if \u200da black person is asking this particular mayor about her corruption, it must\u200c be because they\u2019re \u2062a race traitor of some sort.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If basic standards of meritocracy and decency are to be put aside in favor of \u200bclaims that any critique\u200d is rooted in race, that means there can\u2019t be any meritocracy \u200danymore \u2014 which, of course,\u200b is the basic idea that\u2063 social justice can only be established by getting rid of baseline standards of competency.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We see this\u200c across the \u2063board in the United States in a \u200bwide variety of places. Mayor Brandon\u2062 Johnson of Chicago \u200dwas questioned over his handling of the huge migrant crisis\u2064 that \u2062has hit the city of Chicago, along with the crime crisis, along with the issues of economic problems\u200c in the city. His answer was, I\u2019m a black \u2062man with a\u200b black \u200cwife and black kids. How dare you attack me?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This mentality is horrifyingly bad for the country. What does the race\u200d of his wife and his children have\u200b to do with anything? The reasoning is:\u2063 You can\u2019t critique me because I am citing my race.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He\u2019s following\u200c in \u200cthe footsteps of Lori Lightfoot, who was recently ousted as mayor of Chicago after one short term because she was a terrible mayor. But\u200c she also happened to be a black lesbian. She claimed that she had been ousted, not because she\u2062 was\u2062 terrible at her job, but because she was black. \u200bWhen asked after the election \u2063if she lost because of her race in a city like\u200b Chicago, which is heavily minority, \u200cshe\u200b said, \u201cI\u2019m \u200ca black woman in America.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2023, Lightfoot said in an interview with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/the-political-scene\/lori-lightfoot-makes-her-case-to-chicago?_sp=f46b50f6-2ff9-490d-87df-820a50fb74b1.1707424977366\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the New Yorker<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  prior to the election, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAnd, look, also, I am\u200d a Black woman \u2014\u2063 let\u2019s not \u2063forget \u2026 Certain folks, frankly, don\u2019t support us in leadership roles. \u2026 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The same forces that didn\u2019t want Harold Washington to succeed, they\u2019re still here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She was \u200breferring to Chicago\u2019s first black mayor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This sort of excuse-making is a way of lowering standards of performance for\u2062 everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Again, we see it across \u200bthe board. Fani Willis, who\u2019s\u200c the D.A. currently going after Donald \u2064Trump in Georgia, has spoken of how racism was behind all the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fani-willis-goes-to-church-tells-congregation-shes-being-targeted-for-skin-color\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">accusations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  targeting her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The answer to every question about\u200b impropriety is now race in America. So long as \u200dyou are able to play that card \u2014 and it\u2019s a dangerous card to play \u2014 it undermines standards of\u2062 stability,\u200d decency, and performance in literally every industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How does using\u200d race as\u2062 a shield \u2064prevent\u2062 meaningful examination of\u200b an individual&#8217;s conduct and create a double standard that erodes trust\u2062 in\u2064 institutions<\/h2>\n<p><span>  E leader, but criticized anyone who questioned her performance as being racist or sexist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In our \u200c\u2064current climate, it has\u2064 become commonplace to use one&#8217;s race or \u2062intersectionality as a shield\u2062 against \u2062criticism and accountability.\u200b This dangerous trend undermines the principles of equality and fairness that our society strives for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is crucial \u200cto acknowledge that \u200cracism and discrimination still exist and\u2063 that marginalized communities \u2064face unique challenges. However, using these legitimate concerns\u2064 as an excuse to evade responsibility or \u2063avoid\u200d examination \u200dof one&#8217;s actions sets a dangerous precedent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A truly egalitarian society should be able \u200cto hold all individuals, regardless of their race or\u2062 intersectional identity,\u2063 accountable for their actions. When the defense of &#8220;you&#8217;re attacking me because I&#8217;m black&#8221; becomes a get-out-of-jail-free \u2064card, \u2064it erodes the foundations of justice and \u200cundermines the progress we have made towards a fair \u200band equal society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The \u200ccase of Tiffany Henyard, the mayor of Dolton, Illinois, is \u200da prime example\u200b of how this defense is employed to shield \u200dindividuals from scrutiny. \u200dDespite allegations of corruption and excessive \u2064spending, \u2064Henyard dismisses any criticism as \u2064attacks on her as a black \u200cwoman in power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By resorting to\u200c race as a shield, Henyard undermines the\u2064 valid concerns about her actions \u200band prevents any meaningful examination of her conduct.
