To say that there is a lack \u200bof confidence in the current commander-in-chief among the older veterans would be an understatement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Dilemma of \u2063Boomer Vets<\/h3>\n<p>When we consider the idea of \u200bfederal\u200c and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lets-back-the-blue-texas-house-passes-bill-cracking-down-on-cities-that-defund-police\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Texas House Passes Bill Cracking Down On Cities That Defund Police\">state law enforcement<\/a> in conflict, a\u200b common question arises: <em>What would we boomer vets do if our commander-in-chief ordered us to use extreme prejudice to force the Texas law enforcement officers to stand down?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I\u200c refer to us as \u2018boomer vets,\u2019\u200d of which there are two informal classes: Those who \u2062fought in the Vietnam War, and the younger guys \u200bwho enlisted right after the war ended. I was in the latter category, having served from 1979 to 1985. We were among \u200bthe first enlistees in a decade to serve without being conscripted. We felt we were needed to pick up the fallen standard,\u2064 having witnessed the shameful mistreatment of our neglected Vietnam veterans, who were called \u201cbaby killers\u201d by many \u2062upon their\u200d return from a war they \u2062never wanted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>A Call to Honor<\/h3>\n<p>Veterans from World War II had a saying, \u201cThey also serve, those who stand and wait.\u201d Only the volunteer forces of today could understand the length and breadth of that \u2062sentiment; it \u2064is a <em>call to honor.<\/em> We felt a patriotic duty to our beloved\u200c country, a concept which is\u2064 rapidly becoming pass\u00e9 in our \u2063self-absorbed culture of consumers rather than citizens.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Oath We Swore<\/h3>\n<p>Everyone in the armed forces makes a promise to <em>\u201c\u2026defend \u200cthe Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.\u201d<\/em> We further \u200bpledge to <em>\u201c\u2026obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed\u2026\u201d<\/em> These are sublime words, spoken from the heart by those who wish to preserve the nation we know and love.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/show\/the-divided-states-of-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH: \u201cThe Divided States of Biden with Ben Shapiro\u201d on DailyWire+<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Quandary of\u200b Following Orders<\/h3>\n<p>To obey and follow the orders of its commander-in-chief and\u2064 his \u2063designates without question is the ultimate duty of any and all who wear the uniform; such discipline and adherence\u2064 to the chain of command is integral to maintaining a focused armed force capable of repelling an invading force. But\u2063 we vets are torn when we consider what can only be purposeful dereliction of duty when \u2063it comes to defending our borders. We ask each other why would our\u200b commander-in-chief knowingly <em>allow<\/em> our\u200b frontlines to be infiltrated by unvetted invaders? <em>Who<\/em> told the Secretary of Homeland Security to open the borders and keep them open? Could our commander-in-chief actually be guilty of <em>treason<\/em>?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>A Historical \u200dParallel<\/h3>\n<p>All other considerations aside, \u2063the quintessential questions remain: Are we obliged to follow any order from a man many of us\u200b believe to be CIC in \u200dname only? Are we duty bound to carry out orders issued by a \u2064president who is clearly in the throes of mental decay that makes\u200d us \u2063question his fitness to command? What would <em>we<\/em> do if Joe Biden ordered us into an \u200barmed conflict with Texas law enforcement \u200cagents? The quandary\u200b that this unprecedented situation with national implications lays at the feet of everyone in uniform is one that no American\u200b military servicemen or women \u200dhave really had \u200dto contemplate since 1861.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Lessons from History<\/h3>\n<p>Other nations, however,\u200b have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/boris-johnson-survives-no-confidence-vote\/\" title=\"Boris Johnson Survives \u2018No Confidence\u2019 Vote\">faced similar situations<\/a>. Their\u200b examples could be a guide to what may go down on the Texas border should the irresistible force of D.C. meet the immovable object of Austin. We have, in \u2063fact, seen other \u2064militaries defy their presidents when they consider the administration illegitimate or their orders \u2062immoral.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>A \u200dStandoff Looms<\/h3>\n<p>I was stationed in\u2064 the Philippines in the 1980s as the decades-old regime of strongman Ferdinand Marcos was collapsing. Marcos was so desperate to keep power that when the wildly popular, and foreseeable winner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-federal-informant-warned-of-antifa-blm-infiltrators-at-capitol-on-jan-6-2\/\" title=\"Former Federal Informant Warned of Antifa, BLM Infiltrators at Capitol on Jan. 6\">forthcoming presidential election<\/a>, \u2063Benigno Aquino, returned from exile,\u2064 Marco\u2019s henchmen brazenly gunned him down on\u2063 the tarmac of Manila International Airport as he stepped\u200d off his plane.<\/p>\n<p>Marcos\u2019 dastardly deed was, in fact, ill-advised as it only inspired the beloved Benigno\u2019s \u200cwidow, Corey Aquino, \u200bto lead the grassroots \u201cPeople Power Revolution\u201d \u2064against the dictator. \u200bThe People Power Revolution was called the \u201cBloodless Revolution,\u201d since the downfall of Marcos was achieved without a \u2063shot being\u2062 fired. As the uprising reached its pinnacle, a tense and final standoff ensued when a contingent of Marines with tanks and armored vans was stopped on Ortigas Avenue in Manila by a large group of angry anti-Marcos demonstrators. \u200cNuns held rosaries and knelt in front of the tanks while men \u200band women from all walks of life linked arms\u2062 together to block the troops. An order to fire \u2064did, in fact, come over the secret palace radio frequency from Marcos, but the field officer in charge \u2062decided to disobey it.\u200d Marcos\u2019\u2063 regime was usurped not only by his assassinated rival\u2019s widow but, more importantly, by <em>the Philippine<\/em> <em>military who refused direct orders to fire on their own citizens<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO GET \u200bTHE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>A Destructive Commander-in-Chief<\/h3>\n<p>We older vets feel a\u2064 great empathy for our brave \u200cmen and women who serve under such a destructive commander-in-chief \u2014 one who appears so derelict \u2064in his duty that he would even consider putting our country in needless jeopardy by potentially triggering a \u200bviolent face-off between \u2064state and federal forces not seen since Fort Sumter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The \u200cUnwavering Loyalty \u200dto Country<\/h3>\n<p>Most telling, my fellow veterans\u2064 and \u200bI \u2014 those with whom I am in \u2064contact \u2014 agree we would be bound to act like the Philippine field officers, who showed patriotism in the face of\u2062 despotism, which is what every honorable \u2064servicemember would do. The President is our commander-in-chief \u2026 until he gives orders that do the very opposite of one of his chief responsibilities which is to protect\u2064 the U.S. from enemies,\u200b foreign and domestic.\u2064 As such, we \u2062would \u200bnever fire on our own people, despite facing certain court martial. So, in the vaunted halls of the \u200dVA hospitals, the almost unanimous \u2063vote is: \u201cNo, \u2064Mr. Biden, \u2063I wouldn\u2019t \u2018<em>obey the orders of the President,<\/em>\u2019 even though I swore an oath to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The True Meaning of Duty, \u200cHonor, Country<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes, when our contemporary leaders employ dangerously\u200b misguided policies that force\u2062 us in the military to make a choice between them and the nation conceived by our Founding Fathers, they, in fact, leave those of\u200c us who proudly \u2063wear the uniform <em>no choice<\/em>. Unity and integrity among our \u200branks\u200d are essential in navigating the challenges we face as a nation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Protecting our Nation and its Values<\/h3>\n<p>While we may find ourselves in unfamiliar \u2064territory, facing a commander-in-chief we question, we must not lose sight of our purpose. As veterans, we \u2063bear witness to the devastating realities of\u2062 armed conflict, and we understand \u200cthe importance of exhausting all diplomatic and legal avenues before resorting to violence.
