This initiative is \u200cpart of the state&#8217;s expansion of the working families tax credit, aimed\u200b at providing \u200bfinancial support \u200cto households.<\/p>\n<p>Over \u2063the \u200dcourse of\u2063 five to six weeks, approximately 700,000 households will receive these payments on \u2064a\u2064 rolling basis, starting from Tuesday. The checks\u2064 will be\u200d based \u200don the \u2062difference between the\u200b 6% working families\u200b tax credit included in\u2062 an eligible resident&#8217;s 2022 tax refunds and the 30% value that\u2062 the credit is worth under the legislation approved in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan officials anticipate that this expanded tax credit will result \u200cin an average tax refund of $3,150 for \u2064eligible residents in 2022. Starting from tax year 2023, the 30% rate for the\u200b working families tax\u200c credit will be included in\u200d regular tax refunds.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Putting Money Back\u200c in the Pockets of Michigan Families<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;By quintupling the working\u2063 families tax credit, we&#8217;re putting\u2062 an average\u200b of $550 back in the pockets\u2064 of 700,000 Michigan families ahead of schedule,&#8221; \u200csaid Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) in a statement.\u2063 &#8220;This directly\u200c benefits half the \u2062children in\u200c Michigan, and moms and dads can use this extra money\u200d at tax time\u200d to \u200cpay \u2062the bills, put food \u2063on the table, and buy\u2064 school supplies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Eligible residents will automatically receive the checks, without \u2063the \u2062need for any additional paperwork.
