Big Tech\u200b censorship, and\u200d Democrat \u2063meddling are\u2063 the \u200dbiggest ways &#8220;the American system of self-governance \u2062is under attack,&#8221; Federalist\u200b Editor-In-Chief and bestselling author\u200c Mollie Hemingway warned in her testimony to the House Administration Committee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have allowed the private \u2063takeover of government election offices\u2064 by\u200b partisan oligarchs and their armies of activists who use those offices and\u2063 their authorities to tilt the \u200belection toward favored candidates,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>During\u200b her opening\u200b statement on Wednesday, Hemingway diagnosed the deterioration of U.S. elections and Americans&#8217; \u2062trust in\u2063 the voting process as the result of &#8220;lengthy \u200delection seasons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The situation is so absurd that we have presidential and gubernatorial debates\u2064 weeks\u2064 after\u200c some people have already voted,&#8221; Hemingway \u200bnoted.<\/p>\n<p>Mail-in\u200d voting specifically, Hemingway said, forces the crux of voting \u200bto begin months before Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead \u200cof having full security\u200d and a verifiable chain of custody for\u200d ballots being issued, cast, and\u2063 counted,\u200d we flooded addresses across\u200b the country with\u200c tens of millions of unsupervised mail-in ballots \u200bmonths \u2062ahead \u2064of elections frequently\u2062 to locations\u200d from which \u200bvoters, if they&#8217;re even alive, have long \u2064since moved, instead of having election administration that\u2062 is \u2062rigorously nonpartisan and \u200dimpartial under the law,&#8221; \u200bshe explained.<\/p>\n<figure><video controls src=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/HEMINGWAY.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n<p>Hemingway\u200b said this strategy not \u2064only\u200d applied in the 2020 presidential\u200c election but is being weaponized by\u2062 Democrats in the 2024 cycle to prevent former President Donald \u2063Trump from receiving support at the polls.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead of voters being \u2063able to vote for \u200cthe candidate of their choice, powerful interests backed \u2064by \u2064wealthy oligarchs\u200b are working to remove the most popular\u2064 candidate and\u200c the\u2062 ruling\u2062 party&#8217;s chief opponent from the ballot in a move\u200d reminiscent\u200d of\u2064 Soviet Russia,&#8221; Hemingway said. &#8220;And if that weren&#8217;t enough, instead of \u200bthe top \u200ccandidates being chosen by the people being able to fully \u200bengage in a vigorous campaign heading into an election, we have\u2062 one side actively attempting to throw its opponent \u200bin prison\u2062 and bankrupt \u200dhis family, again, reminiscent of Soviet Russia\u200c instead \u2064of \u2062a system of rule of law that gives Americans \u200dthe same rights\u2063 and\u2062 due process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Department\u2064 of Justice, &#8220;other \u2063partisan actors,&#8221; to American elections, Hemingway said, was just the beginning of \u2063a widespread and growing campaign &#8220;by partisans to further\u200d infiltrate government\u200c offices to ensure favorable outcomes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Allowing just one\u200d of these attacks to infect our electoral system would be \u2064a crisis.
