Nearly three years after being fired \u2062from\u200b the hit TV series \u200c”The Mandalorian” due to a \u2064controversial social media\u200c repost, Gina\u200c Carano, a producer and actress, is planning\u2063 to sue Disney’s Lucasfilm. She claims that she was a victim\u2064 of a \u200c”bullying smear campaign aimed at silencing, destroying & making an example out of me.”<\/p>\n

In\u200d a lengthy post on X, Carano wrote, “The truth is\u2063 I was being hunted down from everything I posted to every post \u2062I\u2064 liked\u200b because I was not\u2064 in line with the acceptable narrative of the time.\u200b My words were\u200c consistently twisted to demonize & dehumanize me as an \u2064alt\u2063 right wing\u200b extremist.”<\/p>\n

While Lucasfilm cited\u200c Carano’s\u2064 “social media posts denigrating \u200dpeople based on their\u200d cultural and religious identities”\u2063 as the reason for\u200b her firing, \u200dreports suggest \u2062that \u200bthe company had been looking for a reason \u2062to let her go for two months prior.<\/p>\n

Carano defended herself, saying, “Look with your own eyes at what I posted and ask yourself, for example, where did I \u200bcompare Republicans to the Jewish people in \u200dthe holocaust? I didn’t. Ask \u200dyourself why\u2062 they were calling me a racist, was there any merit behind that or history of it whatsoever? No.”<\/p>\n

In addition to being labeled a\u200d transphobe, Carano faced criticism for questioning \u2063topics \u2063such as masks, lockdowns, and forced vaccines. She believes\u2064 that these discussions should \u2063have been allowed without\u2063 harassment or censorship.<\/p>\n

She questioned Hollywood’s commitment to female representation and equal rights, pointing\u200d out that her male co-stars were allowed to speak without harassment or consequences, \u2063while she was not \u2064given the same freedom of speech. Carano\u200c emphasized\u2062 that artists do not surrender their \u2062rights as American citizens \u200bwhen\u200b they enter into employment.<\/p>\n

Carano’s\u2063 decision to pursue legal action<\/a> against Disney came \u200dafter X Chairman\u200b Elon Musk \u200coffered\u200b to subsidize lawsuits for individuals who \u2063were unfairly treated by their employers due to their social media activity<\/a>. Musk \u200bconfirmed that there would be no limit\u2064 to the\u2064 support \u2062he would provide.<\/p>\n

A few \u200cmonths\u2064 later,\u2063 Musk fulfilled\u200b his promise and sent a lawyer \u200cfunded by X to represent Carano in her \u2063case.<\/p>\n

Carano \u2063expressed her gratitude to Musk and X for giving her the opportunity to bring her case to light. She believes that \u200bmany people have been silenced and wants to create a platform where everyone can have a\u2063 voice, regardless of their political beliefs.<\/p>\n
