Al \u200cSharpton used the word \u201cinvasion\u201d to\u2062 describe the onslaught of migrants at\u2063 the southern U.S. border on Monday, his MSNBC guest suddenly stopped\u200c nodding along. And then the fast blinking began \u2014 he was triggered. Because to \u200cthe American left, the word \u201cinvasion\u201d is off-limits and even \u201cviolence-inciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the word \u2014 and the concept \u2014 \u200dare at \u200bthe heart of what\u2019s happening \u200din Texas,\u2063 as Gov. Greg Abbott stands up to the Biden administration and its \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-hearing-near-arizona-border-digs-into-bidens-concerning-cbp-one-app\/\" title=\"GOP hearing examines Biden's worrisome CBP One app near Arizona border.\">open\u2063 border policies<\/a>. He\u2064 rightly contends that according \u200dto the U.S. Constitution, Texas does not merely have the Constitutional power to defend itself \u2014 it has a constitutional and moral responsibility to do\u2063 so.<\/p>\n<p>To \u200dqualify as an invader in the constitutional framework requires two qualities: entry into a sovereign territory, and \u2064enmity toward the sovereign. An immigrant without enmity is not an invader, nor is an enemy that stays outside our borders.<\/p>\n<p>Consider some examples of what the Founders\u2062 did consider \u2062invaders: foreign powers, pirates, and hostile tribes. In today\u2019s context, a vast multinational criminal\u2064 cartel whose activities and personnel enter America, harm Americans, \u200ddestroy or commandeer property, defend routes on private and public lands, coerce \u200dAmerican \u2062officials through extortion \u200dor bribery, \u200cand do so with the collaboration \u200dand collusion\u2062 of a foreign \u200cstate power is absolutely an\u2064 invader, and would have been immediately recognized as such by the\u200d American \u200bFounders.<\/p>\n<p>Sharpton wasn\u2019t siding with Abbott, however; he was\u2062 pushing the \u200cnew Senate border\u2062 bill.<\/p>\n<p>But that bill misses the mark almost entirely on all \u2064these points. With its stupefying allowance of several million illegal\u200b entries per year, its comically constricted \u201cborder emergency\u201d framework, its \u200cloosening of the asylum \u200cprocess, its billions in funding\u2063 for the human-trafficking complex, and its wildly\u2062 permissive structure for allowing the executive branch to override even its own minor strictures, the bill \u200bis\u200b right\u2064 now Exhibit \u2064A in the\u2063 contention that \u200cthe border crisis \u2064is a choice made by Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>The border-security crisis is also a choice by Mexico\u2019s\u200d own powerholders, stemming from two major motivations. The first motivation is simple: money. We must understand this very\u200c clearly: The Mexican state and the Mexican cartels are the same \u2014 including the president of Mexico himself.<\/p>\n<p>Mexican President Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador (AMLO) has repeatedly sided with\u200b the criminal cartels, particularly the Sinaloa cartel. This includes his rhetorical generosity \u2064toward it, his public visits to honor the aged mother \u2063of the jailed drug lord\u2062 El Chapo, and\u2064 his political\u200c party\u2019s use of its sicario enforcers to kill opposition candidates and rig elections.<\/p>\n<p>AMLO\u2019s \u2063policy of\u2063 \u201cabrazos no balazos\u201d (hugs, not bullets), \u2062effectively prevents the\u200b use of force against cartel\u200b violence; he has handed over civil powers to his own \u2064army apparatus, which itself is a major trafficking organization \u2063and uses violence against Mexican civilians who defend themselves against cartels; and he has vowed to\u200d use the\u200b Mexican \u2064armed forces to defend Mexican\u2064 cartels \u2063against the Americans.<\/p>\n<p>The second\u200d motivation for Mexico City is leverage: leverage versus \u2062the United States, which is the only\u2064 power capable of arresting \u200cand disincentivizing Mexico\u2019s slide into narco-state \u2062status.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico City \u200cunderstands \u2062two things very well: It makes billions off the border-security\u2064 crisis, especially in human trafficking, and the\u200c crisis gives it leverage over U.S. officeholders, especially as the latter come under pressure from the American people to secure\u2064 the border and defend our communities.<\/p>\n<h3>Texas&#8217; Efforts in Defense of Itself and Its Citizenry<\/h3>\n<p>Texas has undertaken a variety \u200cof efforts in defense of itself and its citizenry that the federal government has refused to do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Texas has \u2063illuminated the national scope of the border crisis, and invoked the principle of equity within it, by its transportation \u2063of migrants to leftist-run\u200d localities \u200bacross the country.<\/li>\n<li>Texas has \u2063used its military\u200d forces for their proper \u2063and primary purpose, in the \u2063defense of its own territory \u200dand citizenry, with the use of the Texas Military Department, including the personnel of the Texas Army National Guard, in Operation Lone Star.<\/li>\n<li>Texas has built \u200beffective border-barrier infrastructure not\u2063 once, but twice \u2014 with its innovative buoy barriers in the Rio Grande, and its barriers on the river\u2019s\u2063 north \u200dbank.<\/li>\n<li>Texas has a new law that allows\u200d Texas law enforcement\u2064 to intercept and de facto deport illegal entrants into Texas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The federal government\u200d ought to be doing all these things \u200d\u2014 but it is not, and therefore Texas must see to its own\u200c self-defense. \u200bAs \u200dAbbott has noted, in failing to\u2063 do so, the federal government has abdicated its own Constitutional responsibility\u200b to \u2063the states.<\/p>\n<p>Make no mistake, Texas is faithfully \u200cexecuting the law \u2014 both its own, and the Constitution\u2019s, which provides in Article I, Section 10, for a state to defend itself \u200dagainst\u200c invasion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.texaspolicy.com\/testimony-before-the-congressional-border-security-caucus\/\"><em>Read the\u200b author\u2019s full testimony on the border security crisis delivered to the U.S. Congressional Border Security Caucus on Feb.\u2062 6.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Joshua\u2062 S. By perpetuating \u2063a porous border and \u2064facilitating the flow of illegal \u200dimmigrants, Mexico can continue \u2062to profit from human trafficking and drug smuggling. This \u200dgives \u200cthem \u2062significant bargaining power in negotiations with the United States, allowing them\u200d to influence policies in their favor and avoid significant consequences for their\u200b own complicity in the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>But ultimately, the responsibility for \u200dthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/twelve-days-of-wex-mas-how-serious-is-biden-about-fixing-the-border-in-2024\/\" title=\"Is Biden committed to fixing the border in 2024?\">border crisis lies<\/a> with \u2064Washington, D.C. The Biden administration&#8217;s decision to dismantle many of \u2063the \u200ceffective\u200d border policies implemented by the previous administration has sent a clear message to potential migrants that\u2062 the United States is open for illegal entry. This has created a massive surge\u2063 of migrants, overwhelming \u200bborder facilities\u2063 and putting \u2063a strain on local communities.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2063 Biden administration&#8217;s border policies, \u200cincluding the loosening \u2062of asylum processes and the lack of \u200beffective\u200b enforcement, have not only \u200bcontributed to the crisis but have also put\u200d the safety and security of\u2062 American citizens at risk. The dangerous journey that many migrants undertake\u200b to reach the United States results in countless deaths and exploitation by human traffickers.\u2063 The Biden administration&#8217;s failure\u2062 to address this crisis effectively and provide a humane solution is a clear indication that they are prioritizing\u200b political agendas over the well-being of individuals.<\/p>\n<p>It is crucial that the United States takes strong and decisive action to address the border crisis. \u200dThis includes\u200d implementing\u2063 effective border\u200d security measures, increasing resources for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">border patrol agents<\/a>,\u200b and collaborating with Mexico to combat the\u2064 criminal \u200corganizations\u2064 that profit from the crisis. Additionally, there must be a focus \u200bon\u2063 addressing the root causes of migration, such as poverty, violence, and political instability in the countries of origin.<\/p>\n<p>The border crisis \u200cis\u200d not an issue that can\u2063 be\u200d ignored or \u200ddismissed. \u200cIt is a choice made by\u2064 Washington, D.C., and it \u2064demands\u200c immediate \u2063attention and action.
