Trump-hating Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus isn\u2019t happy. She wants a swifter witch hunt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a column headlined, \u201cSlowpoke federal appeals court puts 2024 election in jeopardy,\u201d<\/a> \u200b Marcus laments what she considers to be the slow\u200c pace\u2063 of justice in\u2064 the federal case alleging that former President Trump plotted to overturn the results of the 2020 election. <\/p>\n

Trump \u2064has argued he is entitled to absolute immunity from criminal prosecutions involving actions he took as president. It\u2019s an \u201caudacious\u201d defense, Marcus snarls. But \u200cthe columnist\u200c insists it\u2019s \u201cbordering on unconscionable\u201d that a federal\u200b appeals panel\u200d has yet to render a decision\u2064 on Trump\u2019s claim. It\u2019s been nearly\u200b a month, after all. <\/p>\n
Why, it only took 18 days past oral arguments for another panel of the D.C. Circuit to \u201clargely reject\u201d the former president\u2019s challenge to the First Amendment-bludgeoning gag order against him, Marcus whines. <\/p>\n
What does\u2064 it take to get a decent star chamber in D.C. these days?! Marcus \u2063seems to blame a dearth of Biden appointees \u2063on the \u200dappeals court panel. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe immunity panel included two Biden appointees \u2014 Florence Pan and Michelle Childs \u2014 and a George \u2062H.W. Bush nominee, Karen Henderson,\u201d the\u200b WaPo columnist writes. \u201c They appeared disposed<\/a> to rule against Trump, \u2062but perhaps a \u2064concurring or \u200deven dissenting opinion is slowing things down.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nerve.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour honors, the clock is ticking more loudly every day,\u201d Marcus admonishes.<\/p>\n
The clock in\u2063 this case has nothing to do with \u2064the legitimate turning of the wheels of justice but the left\u2019s political fever to dispose of Trump before the \u2064party conventions this summer. If the multiple, politically weaponized indictments against\u2064 Democrat President\u2062 Joe Biden\u2019s most likely challenger don\u2019t \u2063end in quick convictions \u2014 if they are bogged down by\u200b superfluous judicial concepts like due \u200dprocess and defendants\u2019 rights \u2014 well, that\u2019s going to be a real\u200b stick \u200din the machine to reelect Biden. <\/p>\n
\u201cWithout strict court supervision and swift action \u2062to prevent Trump from \u2062running out\u200c the clock, his trial could easily collide with the party conventions and the \u2062height of the general election campaign<\/a>,\u201d Marcus moans. \u201cIt is not at\u2063 all far-fetched to imagine it being postponed until after the \u2062November \u200delection \u2014 Trump\u2019s ultimate goal, so \u200che can win, take office and then order the case dropped.\u201d<\/p>\n

How dare the former president use every legal means possible to defend \u2063himself against the full force of the federal \u200bgovernment \u2014 led, of course, by his presumed political opponent.\u200b Trump\u2019s attorneys\u2062 really should think of the good of the nation, as defined by the Democrat Party. <\/p>\n
Think of the children! Think of the voters! Marcus insists failing to get this\u2064 witch hunt, er\u2026 \u200ctrial \u200dgoing \u200dwould\u2064 be a \u201cterrible disservice to voters.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cThey are entitled to know before\u200d casting their ballots whether they \u200bare choosing \u200ca felon,\u2062 especially one guilty of election interference,\u201d the columnist asserts. <\/p>\n
And if we\u2019ve got to hurry up or rip apart American jurisprudence \u200dto do it, well,\u2062 that\u2019s the price we\u2019ll have to pay to defend democracy.<\/p>\n
