But it also shows how the chaos at our southern border under the Biden administration \u2064far exceeds all prior\u2062 migrations, raising questions about the consequences should this bedlam persist.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Immigration Explosion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In \u200cits <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/system\/files\/2024-01\/59697-Demographic-Outlook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>, the budget office created both prospective\u200b and retrospective estimates for\u2062 three \u2063different\u2062 categories of migrants: legal \u2062permanent residents, or people who can become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cotton-bidens-border-crisis-is-a-superspreader-event\/\" title=\"Cotton: \u2018Biden\u2019s Border Crisis Is A Superspreader Event\u2019\">legal permanent residents<\/a>\u200d (e.g.,\u2062 fianc\u00e9es \u200cof citizens,\u2063 refugees, and asylees); \u200cpeople admitted as non-immigrants, such as students and temporary workers;\u2063 and other foreign nationals. The last category includes individuals \u200cwho\u2064 have entered the country (either at a port \u200bof entry \u200cor otherwise) illegally, individuals paroled into the \u200dUnited States, and individuals \u2062who have overstayed their visas.<\/p>\n<p>As this chart on page\u200c six of the report demonstrates,\u2064 it doesn\u2019t take a Ph.D. in economics to recognize that\u2062 the explosion \u200din\u200c the \u201cother foreign national\u201d category under the Biden administration vastly exceeds \u2064all other\u200d types of immigration \u200bcombined over the \u2063past two\u200d decades:<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Elsewhere in the report, CBO notes \u200cthat\u200c it now expects 5 million more migrants \u200dto arrive in this\u2062 country\u2064 over the \u200bnext three years\u2064 (2024 to 2026) than\u200c it did just last year. And yet the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/unfair-unconstitutional-and-unwise-two-more-lawsuits-hit-biden-over-student-debt-cancellation\/\" title=\"\u2018Unfair, Unconstitutional, And Unwise\u2019: Two More Lawsuits Hit Biden Over Student Debt Cancellation\">budget office predicts<\/a> that the immigration explosion in the\u200b \u201cother foreign \u200bnational\u201d \u2063category will\u200d soon end almost \u2062as quickly as it \u200cbegan:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Net immigration\u2064 of\u2062 people in the other \u200bforeign national category \u200bin 2024\u2063 will \u2063be similar\u2062 to what CBO \u200cestimates it was in 2023 \u2026 and then will decline in\u2063 2025 and 2026 as the immigration system adjusts (<strong><em>without new legislation<\/em><\/strong>) to the increase in immigration. After 2026, net \u200cimmigration of other foreign nationals\u2064 returns to a number that is closer to historical levels. The decline in net immigration \u2062between\u2062 2024 and 2026\u2063 may stem from changes in decisions by other foreign nationals to enter or leave the \u200bUnited States, changes in actions by the administration or \u200cimmigration judges, or a combination of those changes. (Emphasis mine.)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The budget office \u200cprojects that\u2064 \u201cother foreign national\u201d migration \u200cwill \u2062decline from\u200c 1.7 million per year over the next three years \u200cto \u2064200,000 per year thereafter. In other\u200c words, CBO assumes\u200b \u2014 without\u2064 giving any solid evidence\u2063 or justification for its assumption \u2014 that net migration will just suddenly decline to \u2062just over \u200bone-tenth\u2064 of its current\u2062 levels, without any changes to current law.<\/p>\n<p>On\u200d the one hand, one can\u2019t \u200cjudge CBO \u2064too harshly for its guesswork about \u200dwhether\u2063 the migration mayhem continues beyond 2026. The agency did recognize the effect of the current surge by increasing \u2063its short-term immigration estimates by 5\u200d million \u2014 and CBO generally cannot assume \u2062changes in current\u2064 law. A future administration could \u200b(and should) tighten up immigration controls to secure\u200d the border.<\/p>\n<p>But given the size and strength of the immigration surge, \u2064CBO\u2019s assumption that\u200c this migration will quickly abate raises an obvious question: What if it doesn\u2019t?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Secure the Border<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Some may use other elements of CBO\u2019s demographic report to\u2064 argue for the benefits \u200cof migration. Because Americans are having fewer children and having them later, CBO estimates \u200dthat the \u2064fertility\u200b rate among women over age 30 has exceeded that of women\u200c aged 14-29,\u2064 previously the peak child-bearing years,\u2063 the \u200dbudget\u200b office projects that deaths \u2064will exceed births \u2062among\u200c the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-borders-foreign-born-us-population-hits-highest-level-ever-recorded-in-american-history\/\" title=\"Record high foreign-born population in US under Biden's administration\">native-born population<\/a> by\u200b 2040. After that date, the United States\u2019 population would begin to\u200b decline,\u2062 absent either net migration to the country or an \u2064increase in the birth\u200b rate among the native-born.<\/p>\n<p>That said, the\u2064 current chaos is not legal, not \u2064secure, and \u200dnot\u2064 controlled \u2014 nor,\u2062 as the graphs in the CBO report \u200bindicate, \u200dis\u200d it anything approaching sustainable. The factors \u200bcontributing to the\u2062 surge, such as economic conditions in source countries, violence, political instability, and the perception of more favorable immigration policies, \u200bare unlikely to change on their\u200d own. As such, without addressing these \u200bfactors or implementing\u2063 new policies, \u200cit\u200b is unlikely that\u200c illegal \u2063immigration\u200b will naturally decrease.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes, government reports conceal revealing facts.
