Tommy Tuberville takes aim at DHS Secy Alejandro Mayorkas\">weak reaction<\/a> to attacks by Iranian-backed forces that\u2063 have resulted\u2062 in the deaths of American troops.\u200d Cotton pointed out\u2063 that Biden&#8217;s responses have been \u2063directed at &#8220;empty buildings or warehouses in the\u200b middle of \u200dnowhere.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cotton appeared on Fox News with hosts Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer. Perino quoted a Washington Post columnist who criticized Cotton and fellow GOP\u2063 Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) for calling for action in response to the killing of U.S. troops by Iranian-backed forces, \u200cclaiming their\u200b comments were &#8220;irresponsible actions without bearing responsibility for the outcome \u2062is a senatorial perk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>&#8220;What\u200c would you say is actually &#8216;irresponsible&#8217; in this situation?&#8221; Perino asked.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhat\u2019s irresponsible is the 11 \u2063years of the Obama-Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">foreign policy<\/a> towards Iran of trying to appease, coddle, and conciliate ayatollahs who \u2064still chant to this day, \u2018Death\u200c to America\u2019 and \u2018Death to\u200c Israel,\u2019\u201d Cotton \u2064replied. \u201cThat\u2019s why \u200cwe have all these attacks on Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBill, \u200byou laid\u2062 out the more than 160 attacks\u200d since Hamas attacked \u2063Israel on October 7,\u201d\u200b he said to Hemmer. \u201cThat didn\u2019t start \u2063because of that October 7 atrocity; there were more than 100 attacks against Americans since Joe Biden took office before \u2063October 7th. How many times did we retaliate? Something like four or five. \u2062Almost every case\u200d against empty buildings or warehouses in the \u200cmiddle \u200cof nowhere. Again, that simply emboldened Iran and its proxies throughout the Middle East to\u2063 continue \u200dthese attacks. That\u2019s \u200dthe height \u200bof irresponsibility,\u2063 a cowardly sniveling policy that led \u200dour troops as \u200bsitting ducks in \u200ba region because the\u2062 commander-in-chief would not take action to protect them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hemmer noted that when the U.S. attacked the Houthis in Yemen, \u201cThey knew it was coming, and they \u200cscattered, that could happen again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBecause, again, that\u2019s a consequence of\u2063 Joe Biden\u2019s policy of fear and appeasement and conciliation,\u201d Cotton asserted. \u201cJust like with Ukraine and before that with Afghanistan, he\u2019s \u200cscared of his\u200d own shadow. He keeps worrying about escalation. What we saw over the weekend was a massive escalation by Iran. That\u2019s\u2064 central to the president\u2019s Commander-in-Chief power. What I question is \u2064whether Joe Biden is worthy of wielding \u2063that\u200d power because he has not\u2063 protected our troops\u200c or advanced our\u200d interests in the region \u200bfor three years; he\u2019s left them\u200b as sitting ducks, refusing to strike back whenever we are struck. He highlighted\u2063 the danger\u200c of allowing \u200bIranian-backed forces to act with impunity and \u200cthe need to send a clear message that such actions will not\u2063 be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIf\u2064 you don\u2019t take action against Iranian militias and put them in the ground when they attack our \u200dtroops, it simply emboldens them to \u2063continue to do so,\u201d\u200d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s the problem, Bill. \u200cThat\u2019s why we\u2019ve seen U.S. servicemen and women die, whether\u200c it\u2019s in Iraq or whether it\u2019s in Syria, whether it\u2019s \u2063in \u2064Iraq by these Iranian \u2064militias or whether it\u2019s in Yemen by their proxies, the Houthis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cotton \u200calso criticized the Obama-Biden administration for their approach to Iran, stating\u200b that it only furthered Iran&#8217;s aggression and \u200dthreat to American interests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cJoe Biden \u200bserved \u200bas \u2064Vice President for 8 years under Barack Obama, and look at the\u200b consequences of the Obama-Biden approach to Iran,\u201d\u200d he said. \u201cThey gave Iran billions of dollars. \u200cThey gave them a pathway\u200c to a nuclear \u200bweapon. \u2064They weakened sanctions. They lifted the arms embargo that was \u200bpreventing them from\u200b \u2063sending \u2062weapons to their terrorist proxies through \u2062\u2064the \u2062Middle East. That\u2019s\u2062 why we\u2019ve seen so many billions of dollars reach Iran. That\u2019s why we\u2019ve seen attacks\u2062 on civilian aircraft, whether it was in Saudi Arabia or \u2064most recently just a few weeks ago, in UAE or attacks on shipping.
