He made a major blunder \u2064when he took to Twitter and innocently asked, &#8220;How is everybody\u2064 doing?&#8221; Little did he know, \u2063the world was about to unleash its fury upon him.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Elmo is just checking in! It was a barrage of emotions aimed at a \u2063lovable Muppet.<\/p>\n<p>One user replied, &#8220;Elmo, I&#8217;m suffering from existential dread over here.&#8221; Another\u200c lamented,\u2064 &#8220;Every day feels like \u200ca\u2064 struggle, and I can&#8217;t wait for the weekend to escape this \u2062never-ending cycle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even Rachel Zegler, the actress from &#8220;Snow\u200c White,&#8221; who had her own \u2062share\u2062 of\u200c controversy, resisted the urge to tell Elmo about her\u200d sadness.<\/p>\n<p>It was a bizarre situation, but undeniably funny. A Muppet innocently asking about everyone&#8217;s well-being, only \u2063to receive a flood of existential angst in response.<\/p>\n<p>Elmo, realizing the chaos\u2064 he had unintentionally caused, replied, &#8220;Wow, Elmo \u2062is glad he asked. Elmo learned that it is \u200cimportant\u2063 to ask\u2063 a friend how they are doing. Elmo will check again soon, friends. He tweeted,\u200c &#8220;I know \u2062how hard it is somedays\u200b to sweep the\u200b clouds away and get to sunnier days. Our friend Elmo is right: We have to be there for each other, offer our help to a neighbor in need,\u200d and above \u200dall else, ask for help when we need it. Even though it&#8217;s hard, you&#8217;re never alone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This incident raises an\u2062 important question: What has happened to our sense of humor? \u200cWhy can&#8217;t we simply laugh at funny situations anymore? The Elmo debacle\u2062 was undeniably hilarious, yet it seemed to trigger anger\u2064 and sadness instead of laughter.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s \u200bokay \u2062for us to find humor in things,\u200b but it feels like we&#8217;ve lost that ability as a society. Comedy took a hit during the \u2064Obama administration when comedians transformed into\u2063 political mouthpieces, blurring the lines between entertainment and politics.<\/p>\n<p>Barack Obama, a highly marketable \u200cfigure, became the subject\u200d of reverence rather than \u200bsatire. Comedians claimed it was impossible to make fun of him, which in itself was a comical notion.<\/p>\n<p>As comedy merged with\u200d politics,\u2063 our shared space \u200cfor laughter began to crumble. It no longer mattered where\u200c you stood politically; funny was just \u200bfunny. Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno\u2014all were universally\u200b funny.<\/p>\n<p>But as our social fabric unravels, laughter becomes a challenge. If you believe the joke is aimed \u2062at you or that it hides anger and resentment, it&#8217;s hard to find it funny. \u2064Laughter and emotions like sadness \u2062and anger don&#8217;t \u200bcoexist easily.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re experiencing a collective mental breakdown \u2062as a society. We should be able to laugh\u2063 at the absurdity of the Elmo situation, but instead, we&#8217;re divided and unable to find humor in anything.<\/p>\n<p>Take the \u200bTaylor Swift\u2062 and Travis Kelce romance, for example. The idea that it&#8217;s a conspiracy orchestrated \u200bby the NFL or \u200cstage managers is hilarious. Yet, people take\u2064 it so seriously, unable to see the joke.<\/p>\n<p>Politics itself is a tragicomedy, simultaneously funny and tragic. But if we lose the ability to\u200c laugh, it&#8217;s \u200cnot because the situation isn&#8217;t funny. It&#8217;s because we don&#8217;t like the people around us\u200b or \u2062the country we&#8217;re in.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the key to rebuilding our social fabric lies in our\u2063 ability to find\u200d humor in funny things once again. This may be the funniest time \u2063in\u2063 American politics, with Donald Trump, a real estate magnate turned\u200c insult comic, running against a vegetable.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s reclaim our\u2064 laughter and remember that comedy requires trust, just like political success. The anonymity of \u2064the internet allows individuals to \u200dhide behind their screens and unload their anger without consequences.<\/p>\n<p>But why can&#8217;t we just take a step back and appreciate the innocence and lightheartedness in situations like Elmo&#8217;s tweet? \u200dIt was a harmless question from a beloved children&#8217;s character, \u200dyet it sparked a wave of negativity.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it&#8217;s time for us to reflect on our own responses and reactions.
