Lauren Boebert (R-CO) finished in 5th place out of \u206310 candidates\u200d in a\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-cpac-straw-poll-shows-one-candidate-dominating-gop-field-if-trump-not-on-ticket-in-2024\/\" title=\"New CPAC Straw Poll Shows One Candidate Dominating GOP Field If Trump Not On Ticket In 2024\">straw poll<\/a> following Thursday night\u2019s Republican congressional primary debate for\u200c the state\u2019s 4th District.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert received 12 of 117 votes cast after the 90-minute debate, placing behind Logan County Commissioner Jerry Sonnenberg, who received 22 votes; former Colorado House Minority Leader\u200c Mike Lynch, with 20 votes; Douglas County filmmaker Deborah Flora, with \u200c18 votes; and House Minority Whip \u2064Richard Holtorf, with 17 votes.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>&#8220;I won\u200c that debate,&#8221; says Holtorf<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Pure votes, pure objective votes. \u2062I won this raffle, hands down. I am a prominent candidate, I \u200bam a\u2062 serious \u200ccandidate, and I am the most qualified candidate. \u200cI think the field saw that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u200dstate\u2064 representative explained the voting \u2064process\u200c involved what he\u200c called &#8220;stack[ing] the ballot,&#8221; in which\u2063 certain candidates brought family, friends, and staff to the ticketed event to cast their votes for the \u2063one who invited them.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>&#8220;Watch out, Colorado!&#8221; warns Holtorf<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;So watch out, Colorado, because \u200bhere I come, Holtorf for Congress.\u2064 Hang on to your hat because this cowboy is\u200b riding in hard\u200d and fast,&#8221; he told the Washington \u2062Examiner.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Boebert&#8217;s campaign manager, Drew Sexton, dismissed the straw poll, stating, &#8220;A straw poll \u200cof 10 candidates and their supporters that took place in the 8th District where \u200cticket sales closed \u200ddays after she announced is of no concern and doesn\u2019t provide a realistic snapshot of the district.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sexton downplayed\u2062 the reliability of straw polls and shared analysis posted on X from\u2062 Colorado Sun \u2062reporter Jesse Aaron Paul, who attended the debate \u2064and called the sample &#8220;very unscientific.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) \u200dmocked Boebert \u2063on X\u200c after the tally came in, posting, &#8220;I thought it would only be fitting to send\u2063 &#8216;thoughts &#038; prayers&#8217; to my colleague, Lauren Boebert. It\u2019s my understanding that she placed 5th in her first straw poll of the election cycle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Only two-thirds of eligible debate attendees chose to cast a vote in the poll, to the dismay of debate organizer Tammy Klein, who told Colorado Politics, &#8220;It\u2019s very concerning that even when you place a ballot in their hand, they still walk away and leave \u2064it on the table.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Boebert is running in \u200cColorado\u2019s 4th District despite representing the state\u2019s 3rd District.
