Secretary of\u200b State Antony Blinken embarked on \u200ca multi-country Middle East tour \u2062in early January to make what the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> characterized as a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-best-interests-of-children-have-often-come-dead-last-watch-mcconnell-tear-into-teachers-unions\/\" title=\"\u2018The Best Interests Of Children Have Often Come Dead Last\u2019: Watch McConnell Tear Into Teachers\u2019 Unions\">full-court press<\/a>&#8221; to stop the\u2064 war in the Gaza Strip from metastasizing.<\/p>\n<p>As with\u2063 so many of this administration&#8217;s foreign policy \u2062initiatives, Iran had other ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Its Houthi rebel proxies have been attacking U.S. military bases and disrupting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/militants-release-video-of-airborne-assault-on-israeli-linked-ship\/\" title=\"Militants Release Video of Airborne Assault on Israeli-Linked Ship\">commercial shipping routes<\/a> in the Red Sea, injuring hundreds\u200d of American military personnel in\u200b the\u200c process. Over\u200b the weekend, American officials announced the deaths of two \u200cNavy SEALs in a daring raid \u2063on an Iranian weapons ship off the coast of Somalia. The ship was ferrying arms to the\u2062 Houthis.<\/p>\n<p>Suffice \u2063it to say, the regional war the administration sought to avoid is well underway, even \u2062if \u200bnobody is talking about it.<\/p>\n<p>Like most wars, this one is exacting an economic toll: &#8220;The cost of shipping\u2064 containers from China to the Mediterranean\u200c Sea has more than quadrupled,&#8221; according to\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-01-24\/red-sea-crisis-how-houthi-attacks-raise-inflation-supply-chain-worries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>, as ships \u2063ferrying consumer goods, &#8220;from clothing and toys to auto parts, are now adding two weeks to their routes\u200c to travel around the\u200d Cape of Good Hope at the\u2064 southern tip of Africa.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What does Team \u200cBiden\u200c have\u2062 to say about it?\u2062 &#8220;We\u2062 are clear-eyed about who the Houthis are, and their worldview,&#8221; a senior U.S. official told\u2063 the <em>Washington \u200bPost<\/em>. Please. \u2062How clear-eyed could the administration that\u200c yanked the Houthis from the list of designated terrorist organizations be?<\/p>\n<p>Any actual clear-eyed analysis would start and \u200bend with Iran, which has\u2062 been waging a proxy war against the United States for decades. That includes during Barack Obama&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pm-netanyahu-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-are-no-friends-of-freedom-the-american-spectator-usa-news-and-politicsthe-american-spectator-usa-news-and-politics\/\" title=\"Democrats Are No Friends of Freedom\">israel<\/a>-will-not-allow-iran-to-obtain-a-nuclear-weapon\/&#8221; title=&#8221;PM Netanyahu: Israel will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon&#8221;>nuclear deal<\/a>, when Iran took \u200dthe pallets of cash it received and poured\u200d the money into its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-pressure-mounts-to-stop-bidens-return-to-iran-nuclear-deal\/\" title=\"Republican Pressure Mounts to Stop Biden\u2019s Return to Iran Nuclear Deal\">terror proxies<\/a> throughout the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Now, as Iran wages a regional war, the Biden administration&#8217;s responses in \u2064Iraq and Yemen have \u2063been limited to the appendages of the Iranian hydra. The Biden \u2062administration&#8217;s struggle to prevent a regional \u200cwar is indicative of its broader foreign policy failures.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main challenges the Biden administration faces in preventing a regional war is the \u200baggressive actions of Iran and\u2064 its proxies. The Houthi rebels, supported by Iran, have been attacking U.S. military bases and disrupting commercial shipping routes in the \u200dRed Sea. These attacks have not only resulted \u2062in the\u2062 injury \u2062of American military personnel but have also caused economic\u2062 repercussions, with the cost of shipping containers from China to \u200cthe Mediterranean Sea skyrocketing.<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to address the escalating situation, Secretary of State Antony \u2062Blinken embarked on a multi-country Middle East tour, aiming to stop the war in the Gaza Strip from spreading further. However, the Biden administration&#8217;s efforts have been undermined by Iran&#8217;s continued support of the Houthis and their involvement in provocative actions.<\/p>\n<p>The recent raid on an Iranian weapons ship off \u2063the coast of Somalia, which resulted in the deaths of two Navy SEALs, demonstrates the seriousness of the situation. \u2062The ship was ferrying \u2064arms \u200bto the Houthis, indicating Iran&#8217;s direct involvement in fueling the conflict.
