If convicted, the pro-lifers could face\u2064 up to\u200c 11 years in prison and $250,000 \u2062in fines.<\/p>\n<p>The trial of \u200dChet Gallagher, Coleman Boyd, Heather Idoni, Cal Zastrow,\u2062 Paul Vaughn, and Dennis \u2063Green began with jury selection. Jodie Bell, \u2062Gallagher&#8217;s\u2064 lawyer, argued that\u200b the pro-lifers were peaceful and only sought to persuade pregnant women not to abort their unborn children. The other lawyers also emphasized that\u200b their clients never posed a threat or harmed anyone during the \u200dprotest.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Crampton, representing Paul Vaughn, \u2062stated \u2062that\u200b his\u2063 client was innocent, and the protest was a \u200d&#8221;nonviolent, peaceful exercise.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the opening\u200b statements, the government called\u2063 Mount Juliet police officer Lance Scheider to testify.
